The Big Short is an entertaining and informative movie that dealt with the housing crisis that's tied to that.
A lot of the people on Reddit are willing to go down with the ship as long as Melvin Capital goes under, and this is becoming bigger than a "for giggles" kind of thing. It's illuminating just how rigged things are in favor for those with a ridiculous amount of wealth, and is yet one of the many different things from the past like 11 months that has changed my perspective on things.
It's majorly rigged for the wealthy for decades but we are seeing it reveal itself more this past year because of COV etc. Check out Dan Price's 'interesting' thread. (He's that CEO who gave all his employees 75K a year and took a million dollar pay cut).

Ya it's all fine and dandy when hedge funds and millionaires\billionaires do it but the same people call foul when a bunch of small fries get in on the exact same action. Corrupt motherfuckers deserve to sink. No bailout. Take your lumps are realize you don't always win.
Exactly. Wall Streeters treat our economy as a casino and then complain about a message board of posters who are doing the same.
I'm buying some Blockbuster stock. ?

Conspiring to manipulate securities prices like that is probably a crime.
Not saying the big boys don't do it, but they are smart enough to not leave a trail. People conspiring openly on reddit like that opening themselves up to trouble.
They dont have to cover it up and they aren't that smart. And I quote--> think GameStop is wild? Wait 'til you see what the financial industry did to retirement accounts for teachers, nurses, police, firefighters and factory workers in 2008. Their punishment? 0 jail time, big bailout, and a huge new revenue stream: cheap houses to buy and rent out.
This is getting political so I'm stopping right here. Pull up popcorn on your local news channel and enjoy!

I finished the rerelease of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World on Switch last week (with the eponymous Scott). I felt like it was a pretty good homage to the River City games.
Great movie, great game, I beat it way back with my kid on the PS3 I'm glad the game has come back I thought it disappeared forever.

1.) Cosmic Star Heroine - Nintendo Switch
This is a physical copy of the game that I beaten. I started the game in the later part of 2020 and didn't play it ever week. Comic Star Heroine is a very good and quick rpg.
It is a cross of Chrono Trigger and Phantasy Star. It also has a Suikoden element that recruiting people. For a turn based rpg, the battle system, sound and storyline were done well. The graphics are a 16 bit feel. The game is a 15 to 20 hour turn based rpg due to its side quests and the pacing of the game.
I started this game years ago (steam) but put it away I need to get back to it and start it over and finish it it was fantastic from the little I played.

Finished Metro Exodus, an improvement over the other ones in terms of gameplay but the ‘open world’ is largely uninteresting. It's got some weak sections where you're like where the hell do I go and some really hard bosses to beat that can be frustrating, the stealth in the game is crap…. but I like the story, the characters, the music etc. If it weren't for the story, you and your companions and the game being quite fun for the most part, it would have been a let down.
This is the second game I finished on the epic platform, 99% of the games I have on there I got as free downloads they do every month and I have a bunch, it's really too bad that they don't have achievements otherwise I’d play more games on there.

Loved it, I still remember getting the green Halo edition. 720p gaming and it was easily hackable too. I would spray paint some of them. It also had one of the greatest games I played Ninja Gaiden black. Fun times.

Beat Metro Last Light, second time through trying to get a different ending.

Can't the subforum just go back to being called Modern Gaming or something neutral?
I agree it should be Modern Gaming since there's console specific threads already anyway and so many games are cross platform today (thanks MS for doing your part), I also know quite a few people that are relegated to playing on PC only due to physical ailments\disabilities, I was one of them a few years ago. Sounds stupid but I play a few phone games and sometimes I feel like posting something about it in Modern Consoles but I feel wierd doing it so I skip it.
Also imo it seems there's been a huge rush of console to PC transfers amongst the younger people too because of the "I want to be the next streamer competitive gamer" having dreams of getting loads of followers playing Fortnight or Rocketleague in competitive matchers etc. (ex. Ninja). I'm not saying consoles are total crap for competitive play but I'm definitely seeing that they're not even a consideration for most serious competitive gamers. Just my own observation I've had the last two-three years.

Methinks this thread should be pinned.
Beat Wolfenstein 2, thought it was great, really liked BJ’s crew and the voice acting etc. just more of the same over the top carnage and a nice ending. Love that Twisted Sister cover song.

People buy anything. Sure why not, someone will buy it especially when they see people laid off, in debt, having no budget with the world going up in flames around them and still forking over $500 for a console and a $70 dollar game that’s not included.

I have Transformers but haven't played it, I was going to post that I beat Sword of the Stars: The Pit but I really didn't. In the end I threw on some cheats and said screw you. Rogue-like the game that is ridiculously impossible to beat IMO.

My favorite quote: The irony of a Cyberpunk game having a fanbase willing to defend corporations to the death should never be forgotten.

I finished the main story in 2018's God of War. Playing this game was strange for me. I really liked the story. In fact, I'm willing to say that they broke new ground in terms of telling a compelling story that crosses over literary genres between mythology and modern "journey lit." At times, I thought I was playing a video game version of "The Road." I was impressed throughout by the quality of the storytelling.
However . . . and this is hard for me to say because I love story-driven games, but there was almost too much story in this one. Or maybe the problem was that the gameplay just wasn't that compelling for me. Or maybe it was just too big a departure from previous God of War games. I don't know exactly, but something about the actual fighting in this game wasn't as satisfying as past entries. Here's an article I thought was true about the mini-boss trolls just acting as "speedbumps," I Hate God of War's Trolls (kotaku.com), but I thought almost all of the combat sorta felt like a speedbump. It was thrown into a mix of story and 3d puzzle solving in a way that just didn't let you really feel like you were mastering fighting as Kratos. I never felt like I got a real hang of the combos on the face buttons and the pace at which you were expected to learn new combat attacks and tactics was too fast to be really enjoyable. Something else is that I have to look way back into the past to remember a game where I enjoyed shopping and managing my inventory less than I did in this game (maybe something like Armored Core?). Every time one of those dwarfs popped up with an item shop, I really dreaded it. The armor and weapon upgrades never really felt like they made any sort of obvious difference, but I was scared to ignore the upgrades entirely. And the way the menus had you view upgrades but then exit and open another menu to actually view all your equip-able items and skill upgrades almost felt like deliberate punishment. I wish there was a "upgrade me automatically" button.
Anyway, all that complaining to say that I would still give this game a 5/5. It is a great game, but I'm definitely not as complimentary toward it as many other reviewers. I probably enjoyed Shadow of the Tomb Raider (which I played earlier this year) a bit more.
I agree 100% with this, in fact I never finished it because of the combat, annoying puzzles, horrific menu system and tiresome upgrades. It's a total departure from the intensity of previous games, those were almost arcade-like, a rollercoaster ride if you will. This felt like bumper cars and your on the slowest one. I'd probably give it a three or four out of five I just didn't enjoy it as much as most people, I mean it looked cool and the storyline was great but other than that I much prefer the older format of the games. Sadly I don't think they're going back to that ever again.
Same with Uncharted 4, disappointing. I don't think I'm ever gonna bother with the Last of Us 2.
One of the best games I played on PS4 and beat years ago was a horror game Until Dawn. Then again I really like choose your own adventure type movie games like the Telltale games. I replayed it this Halloween it still very much holds up.
