  1. Oh hell yeah! That bomb button doubled my score! There's those few formations that ALWAYS get me.... some of the helicopters and the hammers. Little SHIFT key tap... POOF!!!!!! 108378
  2. Has anyone figured out how to use the bombs? I pick them up, but I can't see anyway to use them.
  3. The genius of the 400/800 was the chipset. In 1979, a programmable chipset (display list) and sprites were simply mind-numbingly awesome. Even next to the C64, the _chipset_ was awesome, even if the implementation was starting to lag. The 'next step' for the 8 bits should have been enhanced versions the Antic/GTIA framework with new modes, colors, sprites, etc- much like Miner & Co. eventually did with the Amiga, with the FAT and SUPER versions of the same chipset.
  4. Ditto here - I've got a working EZ135 on my Mega ST that runs my BBS. One of us would be glad to help you out. PS BTW, IIRC, you could have just left the EZ cart formatted as is, and not formatted under Atari... I believe I did this with one of my carts - I was able to swap back and forth between my Atari and a friends PC. (or am I thinking of something else)? It's been years since I tried that though. I haven't had any luck doing that, then again, the EZ135 I had in the PC was an IDE model, the Falcon one is an external SCSI.
  5. Just a thought.... There's at least a couple ST'ers with working machines that have EZ135 drives (I have one on my Falcon) I'd be happy to move the contents of the disk onto a cd-rom for you. -Ken
  6. You guys are gonna hate me for this one..... 32018
  7. Man, the road part gets hard FAST! 18526
  8. Picture, if you will, A 4.5 liter, Aluminum block, sequential port fuel injected Cadillac V8, in this: Poobah's Car Ooooh, what year? I've been looking for a '94 or '95
  9. Her PM inbox is probably already stuffed with marriage proposals after that pic. I only soldered one of those damn din plugs, and boy was I annoyed at it Ha seriously! And who was talking to their manager and said "Hey, I've got a great idea... SOLID pins! Whaddya tink?"
  10. Damn, you fix cars too??? I could use some help with my 88 Fiero Gt (4.5L V8 is on the stand in my garage for it!) Now if we could only do something about this neatness streak, you'd be just about perfect
  11. Took me a bit to figure out it doesn't work on NTSC! 8917
  12. Darn it! I had original Boulderdash and the monkey game (Flip and Flop or something? small platforms and ladders, whole board flipped over) when i was 12 or 13.
  13. Or most of the "Sci-Fi Originals" on Sci-Fi..... They are like Sub-B Somewhere I have one of the old MPP-1000 joystick port modems- If you used the MPP software you could vary the baud rate until it puke (between two MPPs of course), so we'd get connects at like "490 baud". Ahhh, early overclocking.
  14. Thanks. so in the left side ram banks they are bypass capacitors too? I've just had a close look at the motherboard and what's printed on them all is CGW 104 Z5J 715 There's also two of these by the Freddie chip. Are they standard electronic components that I can pick up easily? Thanks again everyone for your help. Tezz Those are 100nf. pretty standard stuff. I use little ceramic caps usually (look like little orange blobs). The exact value isn't crucial- as long as you are close to 100nf, you'll be fine. Should be really cheap. Some people call them filter caps or decoupling caps. The power draw of a chip isn't smooth, sometimes it needs a little, sometimes a lot. The filter cap acts like a mini 'power reservoir' so that there's enough power available when the chip wants a whole lot in a short time. Kinda like a buffer for electricity (EE majors will cringe at that explanation, but its basically whats going on) The cap smooths out the power draw so the voltage doesn't drop at the power pin.
  15. Thanks for your help, there wasn't any ram installed in those sockets so unfortunately I cannot try that. It's actually a 130xe board sold as a 65xe with only the first row of 64k installed originally. I did check to make sure no traces were severed and all looks ok. I'm thinking that it's the 8 resistors missing next to the extended ram c113-c120 that would normally be present if it were a 130xe. I've read this referred to as the casbank line? Does anyone know if these resistors missing are what's causing the problem? c113 thru c120 should be bypass capacitors, not resistors and they are definitely needed. I'm not sure what value the other ones are. On an ST, the ram caps are 220nf. I can't make out the values in your picture, but you are looking for a 3 digit number, possibly with a letter after it.
  16. Hi all, I've got an ICD AdSCSI Plus card for sale. I have not tested it, but it appears in good condition. Not really sure what it's worth, so a reasonable offer will own it. I figured I see if anyone here was interested before I trucked it off to eBay. Pics at AdSCSI Plus Card Drop me a PM if you are interested. Thanks! -Ken
  17. I thought I would share a couple of hints that seemed to help me out... 1) Level bonus is crucial, you want those 500 points, they are huge compared to the pittance you get for jumping around, so make sure you get across quickly at the start of the level. 2) Once you've gotten the bonus, Take your time. Most of my deaths come from being too quick to move on. There's no real timer (you can always re-super), so don't move till you're lined up and it 'feels right'. 3) This may seem silly, but when I am super bunny, it seems like the jumps to an empty spot are easier. 4) Based on 3, once I become super, I try to get the critters on the left 2 rows first. If I die, once i become super, i am right next to the remaining ones. If the timer runs out, I'll be back near the right anyway, so its quick to 're-super' the bunny. 5) The game is all about focus. It takes me a round or two to get dialed in, so relax, tune out the world, run your emulator full screen and press your nose close to the monitor After a couple warm-up rounds, scores of 900+ should be easy to get. 6) I hate this game, shame on you all for making me play it
  18. Somewhere I have GEM disks for the PC, it was a little uglier after they had their tif with apple. Might be neat to install it on an Atari PC-1 I'll post them if I find 'em
  19. Such an evil game level 3 : "you're doing super" ARGHH 2820
  20. Holy Crow... I haven't seen a WDC hard disk controller in what, 20 years? A whole bunch of neurons in my brain just woke up!
  21. Any word on this? I've got my very first Atari 800 (purchased way back when I was 11) just begging me for a reason to open her up, and replace some PS caps.
