I want a hard drive just to store source files, so I don't have to load them from disk images. I am planning on doing some assembly, but just for learning and development fun. As to games, good to know that most of them are supported on the 520 kb models.

Hello and thanks for you interest and replies, I currently have no plans to add memory to the machine. What I really want to do is getting the mass storage on the cosmosEx going. My TOS About Info lists 1985, 86, 87, 88, and 89. For software development, I will stick with emulation, and test-run the programs on the real machine. Do you know any Atari specific literature on these machines that are useful to a software developer ? Either bare metal programming, or using TOS. Cheers

Hello community! I have an Atari 520 STFM in good condition. I removed the floppy disk drive and put in a CosmoEx clone made in Slovakia. I can load .ST files on to the virtual floppies. But I don't have any software for it. I want to use the CosmoEx SD card as a hard drive but still checking what is needed for that. I have a ST disk image of assempro assembler (I don't even know if its legal). I was thinking, with just 512 K of memory, is it just useful for games (not even all, some require 1MB), or can I develop software on it (I will assume this to be rather painful by todays standards)? Maybe a c compiler ? Thanks, Regards

Tried the GEMDOS drive and it works like a charm. Thanks for the info. I am still a noob on Atari. Only thing I know is that I wanted one when I was a kid but didn't have the money for it. HAHA

Hello, I have an Atari 520 STFM in perfect working condition with a CosmoX connected to the floppy interface, and want to mount a windows directory as a Hard disk in order to transfer files from the hard disk to the floppy images. Then I take the floppy images and load them through the network to the CosmoX and they appear in TOS with the files in them. Problem : I haven't figured out how to map the directory. I have tried ACSI, SCSI and IDE. when I reboot the emulator it complains of not knowing the size of the directory where the emulator is, although I had configured a different directory. Can anyone help me ? Thanks, Regards

By legal, I mean that the previous user bought it from a store, and then some years later sold it to me second hand therby transferring the license to me. I am trying to find the copyright owners to see if they can replace my disks, but had no luck yet.

Hi, I have a legal copy of R-type bought on ebay. The disks are bad. I found the STX images of the disks. Is it possible to write them back to a good floppy again ? Thanks, Regards

What about changing the VHOLD and HOLD controls in the back of the monitor ? Would that help ?

There is the refresh frequency of the video signal that comes from the computer, and theres the frequency of the power supply. It's the latter that I am talking about. As I said, I can hear sound coming out of the monitor when I press the computer keys, and I can change the volume of that sound in the monitor. I just don't get a picture.

I guess I am stuck with 50Hz. Only if the monitor could do 50Hz also. But I don´t know if it does.

I checked the output of my step down transformer, and its giving 120V (correct) at 50HZ (WRONG!!). The monitor needs 60HZ because that is the mains AC frequency in the USA. Any one know of a step down transformer that can do 120V 60HZ 0.83Amps, I searched amazon but could not find one (yet).

Then I don't have a monochrome monitor. I have a color one.

Hi Atari fans, I have a working Atari 520STFM machine that I can connect to an HDMI monitor through a monitor cable that has the atari connector on one end and a SCART connector on the other, The SCART connector connects to a black box that outputs HDMI and then goes to the HDMI monitor. A while ago I bought a monochrome SC1224 monitor from the USA. (I'm in Europe) I had to also get a step-down transformer to convert the 220V from Europe to 110V of USA to power the monitor. Its rated at 300W. I connected all the cables, and the computer boots, the green led on the monitor lights up, If I crank up the sound volume on the monitor I can hear a Hum. If I press the keys I can hear the clicking sound coming out of the monitor, but there is no picture. There are some controls in the back to use with a screw driver. I fiddled a bit with them but nothing happened. Did I get the wrong monitor ? Thanks, Regards
