1. I'm not too bothered..... at the moment. If they start making noises like they're not going to refund me, things'll get loud. You wouldn't happen to have a factory sealed copy of Rayman about your person would you, Broonale?
2. Hello all. I am looking to purchase a mint (and I do mean mint) or preferably factory sealed copy of Rayman. I recently bought a copy from Telegames UK for £60 that turned out to be decidedly second-hand. Needless to say: They're having it back. I will be paying (rather handsomely) via Paypal if anyone can provide me with this. Anyone?
3. Are you sure? I don't think the Genesis PSU can deliver enough juice for the Jag. The Jag PSU is around 1.2 amps, the Genesis one is around 600milliamps IIRC.
4. But you'd lose your saves/scores. The whole benefit of this method (if it worked) would be that you wouldn't lose your saves. As LinkoVitch says though, it would probably be safer to use proper hardware to do it.
5. Yeah, probably quite a rarity. Shame the game isn't better. Looks stunning but seriously lacking in substance.
6. You're welcome! Perhaps if you'd actually said what you needed help with.....
7. It has happened, mate. People have had their chips die after only a few years.
8. I know that the Jag checks the integrity of the EEPROM/E2PROM at boot, does it check it at all after that? If the saved data is copied to RAM after loading has completed and the save chip isn't touched again until saving occurs, it could be possible. The result, of course, would be your old saves/scores on a fresh new chip with 100,000 cycles ahead of it.
9. Greetings all. I was wondering how the Jaguar save data is handled? Is the entire save chip rewritten every time any portion of the saved data is chaged, or just a small part of it? If an EEPROM chip reaches the end of its life, the data is not lost, it just can't be modified any more. Is that correct? If that's the case, and the entire chip is rewritten each time any data is changed, would it be possible to perform a live transplant on the chip? I.e. Insert the uncased cart into a Jag, power it up, load your game (if applicable) and then desolder and change the chip and cause the game to save again. All while the Jag and game are running. Does this sound at all feasible or is it just me ranting like a madman?
10. I can't afford any more games at the moment, mate. I've just bought a Capcom CPS-2 motherboard and about £700 worth of games as well. I really need to stop spending for a while.
11. Tried Telegames? I got my factory sealed CD unit from them about a year ago.
12. Looks a bit dodgy.... Why is there solder on a load of the edge connectors?
13. Hey big spender! I thought I was bad: I've just bought HS Unconquered Lands, Syndicate, Myst (yeah, I think it's boring as well) and Rayman. Myst and Rayman have yet to arrive. Looking forward to Rayman, never played it before but always hear good things about it. It better be bloody good anyway! It cost me £60 on its own!
14. Me too. Though I'd be happier if it played teh romz.
15. Ahh, excellent! Thanks mate, I'll be getting one of those (above) then. Unless anyone know of a better one?
16. I've always wondered about something concerning the Rotary controllers, perhaps you guys could help me out. On Tempest 2000, how the hell do you do special stages or anything that needs up/down movement with a rotary? I'm thinking of getting one, but I might not if it's a hindrance to any part of the game. Thanks guys.
17. I think you must be missing the enemies, mate. I have just (within the hour) been playing AvP as the Predator and it only takes two hits to kill a Marine with the Wrist Blade. One hit with the Combi-Stick, Smart-Disk and Shoulder Connon. Cloak as soon as you see an enemy. Watch him. Line up and charge at him, de-cloaking just before you reach him. Waste him, cloak and look around for any more enemies. You can do some nice 'Hit and Run' tactics with the Predator.
18. You should have no trouble finding a replacement. Caps are a dime a dozen (literally). A great place to get things like this is Digi-Key 924104 I really wouldn't know what I was looking for...
19. I don't mean to be patronizing, but are you sure it's a battery, and not a capacitor? It sounds more like a capacitor to me, and they *do* go crusty if they leak, just like a battery does! It makes perfect sense for a capacitor to be involved. I think Glenn or Matthias published a circuit? Cheers, JustClaws. 923710 Yep, you can find a description of a MemoryTrack-PCB here: http://www.mdgames.de/jag_pcbs.htm Just select the MT-card in the top-left frame. The blueish thingy with the + and - is an Electrolyte-Capacitor (if this is the proper english term, abbreviation in german: "Elko"), which is not exactly an battery. But yes, they tend to explode... Regards Matthias 923839 Ahh. I see. That would make it almost instantly rechargeable whenever the Jag CD is powered up. Here are the pictures I promised you anyway JustClaws: Maybe a replacement is not going to be easy to source... I scraped all the fur off the top end, I'll just have to see how it goes. Thanks for your help guys.
20. I didn't even know there was a battery in a memory track, can't see why!The Memory Track is supposed to use Flash ROM, not CMOS RAM, I thought, where the normal Jaguar cartridges uses a 128-byte serial EEPROM/E2PROM for storage. The only unit I was aware of with a battery is the Alpine. Can you post a photo? Cheers, JustClaws. 923648 Hi, JustClaws I will do. I'll need to borrow the digicam from work today though. It'll be a few hours. It's a small, blue, cylinder type battery. I know it's a battery because the poles (+-) are printed on the board where it is attached. Just can't see any details printed on the actual battery. Curses!
21. Greetings all. I have a Memory Track cartridge for my Jag CD and the battery inside it it getting a little crusty around one end. Does anyone know the specs of this battery? Type, voltage, capacity? I need to find a suitable replacement. Any help would be greatly appreciated, guys.
