  1. I'm really enjoying both of these excellent games so far! We definitely need more games like these on the VCS, there better than some of the bigger releases if you ask me. I would love to own these in physical form to play on the 2600+ to 🙂
  2. These games look great and light cycles i think its called will be a free game released to Atari VCS users which is very nice of the developer. If i read it correctly 16 players is only possible on the Atari VCS due to its hybrid design, the Xbox version only allows for 8 players max so this is going to be awesome.
  3. Very interesting. I thought the 4k issue got fixed over a year ago. I remember when i used to try and play my Atari VCS 800 with the screen resolution set to 4k my VCS would start to freak out and the fan would ramp up and it would be a slide show, even navigation of the dashboard was impossible but the issue resolved when the OS was updated a long time ago now. Have you tried changing your HDMI cable? Some HDMI cables are just no good when it comes to 4k so its always recommend to get a high quality cable that supports that resolution if you don't already have one.
  4. Has anyone got the online player vs player mode to work? I tried hosting a game but i don't actually know if the online mode works or if it needs to be patched in but no one joined after i spent 10 mins waiting 😅.
  5. This is now available for purchase on the Atari VCS store! I've just picked it up, hoping to get some free time later to sit down and play it 🙂 I've been looking forward to this game for a while, its a little out of the range of the usual games i play but that's what's drawn me to this one plus the Steam reviews are mostly positive so its one to pick up if your looking for a change.
  6. From my understanding there will be a restock of the Atari VCS Classic Joystick although there's no time frame on it but it will happen, that's what's been said on the Discord server last month when someone asked . I also think its more likely to happen now especially since Atari have a new manufacturer for the 2600 plus so i don't think its impossible to have them do it. The joysticks from the gamestation pro wont work with any other system. The way these controllers connect is via infrared, even when connected to the gamestation pro with a cable there still connecting wirelessly, the cable is to charge the joystick only. I got this information from a reviewer on YouTube who was allowed to show of the joysticks. I personally think they look terrible and the layout is weird but we shall see 🙂
  7. Be prepared for messed up hands for a while after playing it at first 😅. I struggled to hold a controller for a day or so after playing this game. You'll eventually get used to it and it becomes more fun and much easier! Great game i need to get back into it, i was planning on doing multiple plays of the game to get better at it.
  8. The Atari VCS 800 could be in a very unique position to have the best version of Qomp2. Qomp2 looks like it would work very well with the classic joystick and if they add in some spinner action it could be next level!
  9. So the game is now available on the Atari VCS store and its pretty good just as i expected! Looking forward to giving this a proper play through at the weekend but no complaints so far! Its got a fairly decent sound track to and its a bargain at only £4.20
  10. I'm not comfortable tinkering with hardware and software by any means and my 4 Atari VCS's work for me. Now the fact that all are working and i can turn them on and play Atari flawlessly would suggest to me that your unit may be defective and i would highly recommend contacting Atari or heading over to the Discord server and you will get help from very helpful Atari staff to determine if the unit is faulty. There are a few problems with the Atari VCS admittedly, its not perfect far from it but again the issues are going to be resolved eventually, the main issue is the update issue out the box experience its kinda crappy at the moment but you will need to flash a new VCS using an image and a USB pen, its a very simple process and takes very little time and there is a straightforward guide and video on here and Discord to help guide you. The Atari VCS can also take longer to update when connected via WIFI so if you want it to automatically in the future and have it update quickly and more reliably its best to use the old ethernet connection and be patient. The issue with the controllers is an issue i only had once myself back in 2021 but ever since un pairing my controllers and re connecting them its been all good but the controller issue definitely still exists for some people and should be a thing of the past come the big fall update that's being worked on for the Atari VCS. I just personally couldn't recommend the 2600 plus in anyway shape or form over the the Atari VCS especially since there's lots of new games coming to the VCS and of course the cartridge reader. I've got my 2600 plus on PRE order but its more a thing to sit next to my Atari VCS 800 in the main room connected up to a modern display and i wont be retiring me original 2600 and 7800. I've no doubt the 2600 plus will have its faults and frustrations when it comes out like every device does, next people will be upset that they will have to update the 2600 plus via USB C cable connected to a PC to have the latest firmware on it for future updates and that can have risks such as bricking the device if it gets interrupted during flashing. I wouldn't over look an Atari VCS 800, get both or stick to the old hardware.
  11. The Atari VCS 800 game library just keeps getting better and better! This will be a day one purchase for me when it hits the store
  12. I highly recommend the Atari VCS 800 infact its such a good purchase i have 4 in my collection right now. As has been stated you will need to flash it at present to get it up and running out the box but its a very simple process and you can find instructions here or on the discord server to do it. If i had to pick between the VCS 800 and the Atari 2600+ it's the VCS everytime, there's absolutely nothing the 2600+ rom dumper can do that you cant already do on the Atari VCS 800 and there's also a USB cartridge reader being developed for the Atari VCS 800 so your going to be able to play those 2600 and 7800 carts on the VCS at some point and you can already play them on there either via games in the Atari Vault or run the VCS in PC mode and do it via emulation. I've PRE ordered the 2600+ and I'm super excited for it but I'm just being honest in saying that the Atari VCS 800 is in another world its a modern console for modern games, indie games, retro games and now homebrew games its a mini Ryzen PC, your getting so much value for just a little bit more than the 2600+. I use my VCS for gaming, watching Netflix and YouTube i can run my own business on it in PC mode and do some gaming in PC mode and mess around its the little console that can do it all. I'm starting to notice more and more people finding out about the Atari VCS 800 after heading over to Atari's website to view the 2600+ and the few that have done it have ordered a VCS 800 instead very interesting.
  13. Wow i definitely need a few of those adapters and the 5200 trakball! We never did get that over here in the UK or the 5200 sadly. I have the 2600 trackball but its no where as beastly as that one.
  14. The VCS is a great choice and the 2600 plus doesn't effect the Atari VCS 800 in anyway plus there's a USB cartridge reader in development for the Atari VCS that will allow it to play all the same carts as the 2600 plus if you wanted to go down that route eventually so the VCS is a solid option and a good purchase too . The only reason the 2600 plus will outsell the VCS is that Atari refuse to sell the VCS outside the US so its kinda locked down and holding the console back from a whole new audience 😥 I did read on Discord that the Atari VCS might be getting sold on Amazon for international buyers now to but i don't know if it was said in error. I ended up placing a pre order for the 2600 plus and all games and accessories so i can have it set up next to my Atari VCS 800 in my main room on the modern display, i certainly wont be retiring my original 2600 and 7800 though those are in my game room hooked up to the old CRT.
  15. The game is now up on the Atari VCS store if anyone is interested. I wasn't expecting to much from this game to be honest but its actually really well done and quite challenging so if you like puzzle games its worth picking up 🙂 Another great puzzle game for the VCS.
