  1. A Falcon to RGB monitor adapter was produced for those programs that don't work in VGA mode (the one I have came with the Falcon along with the VGA adapter). Whilst the VGA adapter is readily available I haven't seen the Falcon to RGB adapter on offer in the same way. Still there must be some out there & possibly someone producing / selling Atari gear may have them available or be willing to make them?

  2. Try using 2015! What happens? Then save a new file from a text editor or word processing program. Click on the new file from the desktop then use the Show Information option. What date is shown - 2015 0r 2023? Next: disable temporarily ALL time and clock setting programs except  SETKBD.PRG (including from UltrSatan if possible) and disable Xcontrol Acc. Reboot & set the date to 2023 then try saving & checking a new file & it's  date as before mentioned. If it is correct reboot after enabling Xcontrol. Check dates again. Add in or eliminate programs & date setting progs one by one in a step by step procedure to identify possible software source of problem or possible program conflicts.  good luck!

<E> (for everything) is only on the newer versions of TOS. I use it with TOS v2.06 and 3.06 here.

TOS v1.4 here does not have that.

As mentioned, <control> is for moving files. <Shift> will select a file and you can "lasso" and

"rubber band" multiple files. Using <shift> again will deselect it.

Just a thought, it might be a little less cumbersome with lower TOS versions to switch to an all

text mode instead of icons, for these file operations.

Otherwise, use an replacement desktop that allows a hot-key to select all files or upgrade your

TOS version. Not sure but would any of the replacement file selectors allow mass selection and

    file operations? Can't remember...

    HTH's.   :)

Yup Universal Item Selector - UISIII - completely replaces the system file selector within all GEM programs. It allows mass selection of files & their manipulation - as well as much more! Very handy especially on single tasking systems & works well with Hotwire 3.

  4. I posted Hotwire 3 and a text only version of the manual for Hotwire 2 on Atari Forum: Codehead Software - Atari-Forum  Hotwire is a program launcher and much more. It integrates with Multidesk to load & manage multiple Desk accessories and Multifile. I used it a lot on my ST's. Under emulation Gemulator on a PC it didn't function very well. I couldn't move & edit entries easily. However  I've started using Geneva as the OS on Gemulator and Hotwire now seems to work just great again. recent versions of the Steem emulator have improved emulation and Hotwire works a bit better than on earlier versions.

So the 2nd design ideas disk makes all kinds of noise when it spins up, you can really hear it, like it's scraping the inside of the disk cover or something....ffftttth ffftttth...

Thanks for preserving those disks. Not my really area but  I suggest searching on line for information about:

    1. Cleaning floppy disks

    2. "Lubricating" or otherwise enabling a floppy disk to spin freely

This is assuming your disk drive is working just fine and can work with disks formatted as this one is. You could try the disk in a different drive to see if it spins more freely?

With these old floppies - the longer we leave em before preserving the more likely the files n data can't be fully accessed - if at all. And any "cleaning" attempts may accelerate any wear &  tear damage  unless carefully done (the same may apply to old floppy disk drives).

Here are Education Graphics (this time done with MSA 141), People Places and Things, Signs and Symbols and Design Ideas disk 1 (disk 2 seem to be damaged and wouldn't image, I'd be happy for help with it).

SwiftCalc 2 to come later - it's buried in the back closet as I bought it last year.

    twpptgrp.msa 325.24 kB · 2 downloads twsasgrp.msa 328.28 kB · 2 downloads twdsgid1.msa 298.71 kB · 2 downloads twedugrp.msa 328.65 kB · 2 downloads

OK 3 of those have  IMG files on and they display fine. twdsgid1.msa contains .dtp files which I think are the template files potentially more interesting for Desktop Publisher. The disk that appears damaged - some or all of it's contents mat be salvageable especially given your hardware. There are people on Atari Forum & maybe here with interest in disk preservation who may be able to help. Knife ST is a very useful and powerful program for this kind of thing - First if at all possible get a back up copy or image of the disk.

  7. Yes the disk works. Thanks for sharing it. The disk contains IMG format files and these can be viewed in both Gem View & Image Copy so they should be available to use with a variety of ST programs including Desktop Publisher. I ran a slideshow of the files in Image Copy as the quickest way of checking them - all fine, I think. Other files on the disk lack a suffix file identifier so I don't know what they are?

SwiftCalc 2 said to have some interesting features, would be good for it to be preserved. I haven't seen it around & don't think it's  easily available.
