It has been an intermittent problem for -some-. If you go onto the VCS Discord and ping Ashlee at Atari Support, she will help you.

What could have been... Atari Port for the VCS
THX-1138 replied to The Historian's topic in Atari VCS
They are going to make legacy carts playable on the VCS 800, that was the whole point of the investment in Playmaji. The VCS will get the Polymega Remix to connect via USB and play old Atari carts and take modules to play media from other retro consoles too. -
LOL, I was really curious about that too.

It's a great little home computer in the tradition of what came before, a nice mix of old and new and can run any OS and software you want on it. I couldn't be happier with mine.
-
You're welcome and Steam works great too. I use it in Linux.

I am very happy with mine, I bought it as a successor to my old Atari 8-bit and ST computers and I don't regret it. I now have three in the house. One is used as a home entertainment system and games machine, another is my main PC. It replaced a Ryzen 3 that I bought the year before. I have 32GB of RAM in it and 2TB drive, I run that one only in Linux and use it for graphics, audio, programming etc. etc. and it handles everything I've thrown at it. As a game console, it's the first I've actively bought since probably the first PS1 came out and I got bored of it all. It's made me want to play games again - the two Vaults, Atari50, all the Recharged games and new Atari games like Kombinera, Akka Arrh etc. come together to make a nice system that mixes the best of old and new. I'm also buying the 2600+, it's not an either/or thing, but it will look nice sat next to my VCS. The only thing I'd say to anyone getting one, make a USB recovery drive from the link on the VCS Discord. There has been a LOT of updates since the original production run. Once you get it, follow the instructions to flash it to the latest OS - that will bypass the -huge- number of big, repetitive and rebooting updates which seem to throw so many people off.

No, AtariOS is just for Atari VCS games. Boot into Linux or Windows and run anything else you want in that, such as Steam. Hope that helps.

You have some serious comprehension issues. You SEE a 2600 and say it's "Possibly the Polymega Remix 2600/7800." THEN you say "At no point did I say it was the Polymega Remix" - WTF? THEN you reveal yourself as a whiner with the "junk" comment. Yeah, I'm laughing at you. Never change, stay salty.
-
I cannot help you then. It's a new 2600.
-
Really? 🙂 You're not seeing the console they are clearly showing you? Look again, carefully. It's not the original one, looks slightly different around the switches. We'll know for sure later today.
-
Correct. It is not a Polymega and Atari's logo IS shown...
-
It's clear what it is, they're SHOWING it.

Ok. I've no interest in Macs so I can't really comment further.
-
Ok, I'm out of the loop with Mac stuff - I got rid of all my Apple hardware almost 10 years ago, but I don't see what this has to do with the VCS.

In my case I was able to use another VISA card that supported US currency and I've never had a problem since. The store has never been a problem for me beyond the initial card problem I had. I do think they have a problem with their card processor, usually it's folks in the US and Canada that have problems and it all 'just works' for me. Not sure the store will ever be fixed as such, anymore than we'll ever be able to buy -anything- from Atari in the UK.
