  1. What irritates me: I can't see the consistency with the Atari2600+. Atari wants to reach the homebrew market, but at the same time is launching a console that will not be 100% compatible with itπŸ™„
  2. not worst than your assumption. Time will tell. I'm in general also a "doubts kind of guy"... but in this case, nobody in here (not even all of you programmers and designers for 20 years) can get a better picture of this case than Al can do. We just don't know the details.
  3. I didn't mean to offend you ... in terms of responsiveness to mobile devices the store is a relic. I know...forums are generally not mobiles devices best friends.
  4. for those who lament here and get stuck in nostalgic "everything is going down the drain" feelings: 1. Al certainly knows what he is doing. If it is good for Al, it is also good for Atariage, because Al IS 100% Atariage. Period. 2. there are enough reasons why Atariage can become even better (again): - the website (store and forum) are definitely technically outdated - It needs more manpower, as communication, shipping times and many other things have gone over the head. This was well felt in the last 48 months. - Many project ideas that Al addressed in the past have been put on hold for a long time. New energy for them can now be released. - Anything that brings more homebrews and more attention to them is primarily positive. ...the list goes on.
  5. Hey guys... you flood Al with endless questions: lets get him back to work! He still has to ship tons of packages, among others mine! πŸ˜‹
  6. At the end of the day, this is a senseless discussion. It's comparing apples and oranges. I for myself am a big Atari 2600 homebrew lover, because I am fascinated by the results a (mostly single) programmer person can achieve out of a 50 year old hardware, especially with its hardcore technical and gameplay limitations. This makes me love games like Galagon, Thrust+, Medieval Mayhem or Tower of Rubble even more! There's no way I could make a next-gen enthusiast catch fire for this. And it's totally understandable, too.
  7. I mean, Atari already got 13 pages of talk for this thing in here (actually twice!). How long ago they got this for any product!?😜
  8. for gods sake let's hope atari read all this and make use of the 2 months until release.
  9. Lets hope Atari staff really follows this discussion. If not done yet there is still time to implement the best possible software solution. Hey Atari Folks: all we want is (new) homebrew and SD cart compatibility! If so, you get dozens and hunderts more customers on board here! πŸ™Œ
  10. Seriously, how many such "average customers" exist: people who kept 40 year old carts with no device but willing to pay 130 bucks to check if the're still working? Such people where targeted for raspberry and flashback units. We will see. I say: Atari should target the "hard core base" with this product, people like in this forum..
  11. Of course it does affect us all here personally, that's why we are in this community, isn't it?! Maybe it is just because we are hoping the new Atari could be like the old Apple:
  12. Nope. If it wont play Homebrews and SD carts properly you'll be way better served with original setup.
  13. So chances should be high the same will be possible with the 2600+ right?
  14. I read it can't out of the box. You mean a modified R77?
  15. with all that discussion about "what system it should/could have been"... ...is it from a technical perspective even realistic that you could develop such a system for under $200? I don't mean FPGA, but an emulator powerful enough to play ARM, >4K homebrews, SD-carts and ALL old carts?
