  1. Maybe it's just me, but I would have loved to have seen Graham Gooch Cricket come out on the Jaguar. I'm an American, and definitely didn't grow up with Cricket, but my brother and I love sports games. We got a copy of International Cricket for the NES once, and we literally taught ourselves the rules just so we could play it. It's a fun game and makes for a good competitive 2-player game (I think of it like baseball, if there are only 2 bases and the infield is in the center of an oval shaped outfield). If it is ever found and released, it will be in regular rotation on my Jag.

And to answer the original question, the target audience for Graham Gooch would definitely have been the UK and Australia. Most cricket games released on other consoles get released there.

I use both my VCS Onyx and VCS Classic mostly in Linux, doing massive downloads and streaming stuff - never had any problems with the wifi.  Ubuntu/Mint does need the power saving mode setting in /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf to stop disconnects, I doubt that problem is present in AtariOS.

Most problems folks encounter on the VCS store in the AtariOS are probably due to server problems and occasionally user error/impatience.

I have the same experience. I've used mine for PC games (through Windows) and I have definitely downloaded bigger files than Atari 50 via WiFi, with no issues. Also, Atari 50 downloaded fine for me once I was able to get into the store (that took 2 or 3 tries, but nothing major).

If the VCS was a high priority I would think ease of porting games to their system would have been at the forefront. A console is kind of pointless without the games.

Any hopes that Atari actually tries to make a game that doesn't involve Pong, Asteroids, Breakout, etc.? If Atari is going to grow it is going to be through growing new IPs.

As @davpa pointed out, Kombinera is a great new IP from Atari. It was simultaneously new and also "on brand" as an Atari game. More titles like that will be fun to see in the future (not that I haven't also been loving the "nostalgia titles").

  4. Hey Davpa. Thanks a lot for reaching out. It's great to see Atari pushing some continued support for the VCS. I'm happy to hear that you guys are on the job troubleshooting old issues, and securing new releases.

On a side note, I'm officially removing you from my "guy who gave me a wedgey in the 2nd grade" suspect list.

  5. I agree with most of what has been said already.

I used it as a console regularly. The game library is limited (still has ongoing releases), and has few exclusives, but I've found most are really good indie fare. Also, the games that make good use of the classic controller are awesome (it's the definitive way to play those games in my opinion).

I also regularly use it as a mini gaming PC. It's been able to handle the steam games that I've thrown at it so far. I am planning on installing extra RAM to really get the most out of it.

I have been very satisfied with it myself.

Anyone know if we can talk Orange Pixels

We should also ask Orangepixel to port some of his other games, like Ashworld, and Residual!  These both look awesome, and I'd like to get them on the VCS!

I believe he said in one of his earlier videos that he was planning on porting over the 10 games that are currently on the Switch. Residual is on that list, but I don't think Ashworld is.

Does Atari's new console play Jaguar games ? I have asked on a few forums and no one has answered. Id be interested in getting that new system if it plays Jag and Jag CD games. I have a bunch of CD games i bought at Kaybee years ago. Would love to be able to play Iron Soldier I or II and Battlemorph as i mentioned earlier. But i have not gotten an answer on weather the new system plays Jag games. I would think it would, but the Jaguar gets ignored a lot it seems. But before i buy it i want to make sure. Id rather buy that system that can do the others things along with it than spend the money on an actual console. Those prices are crazy. I bought my original Jaguar for $29.99 and the CD unit for $34.99 at Kaybee. Yeah... and im looking at the prices and just nope lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks as always. 🙂

There are no jaguar games available for the new VCS system just yet, but the new Atari 50 collection will contain 9 Jag titles among its collection of games. This release is currently delayed for the VCS, but should be out soon. This will be the first time many of these jag games were ported outside the original console. To the best of my knowledge there are no jag cd games yet. IS 1 and 2 and Battlemorph are not on offer at this time.

I don't think any emulator can run battle morph.  I think there is only one emulator that can run CD games and it is one of the 20 year old ones like project tempest, and in regards to CD emulation I think it can only emulate two games well enough to get into the gameplay, which I think are primal rage and world tour racing if my memory is correct.

I thought Baldies worked too, but I might be wrong about that (it's been a while since I looked into this). It's definitely Project Tempest though, no one else has CD support to the best of my knowledge.
