replies vs non replies is a pickle. pretty much all responses to any project will be problems. you dont see many because your program doesn't suck. it doesn't suck so much that it has ran all other 2600 emulators out of the business. you can, and should do things on your own time and interest level. seriously no one should expect anything else.

work your way up to the nuclear option. brush scrub and vacuum and see where you get.

Kennedy approach had speech, and was 48K. I dont recall it stopping to talk

in regard to the credit toll over , what kind of scores were seen on the ZPH session? 5mil 20? you could use hex leading digit and get 6x worth at least. or maybe some graphics table lookup as the leading digit. People could submit the screenshot (activision oldschool) and get the x symbol = 14 you kick ass

Reading your post you say I got a TT, implying that is a new machine (to you) and that is where the problem is seen. Put it back in the machine you used when it worked and see if it still does. Unless im reading you wrong.

somewhere, in the years worth of threads on here , there have been t/s walkthrus using a diag disk and a scope, (prob a DMM as well) . you definitely need a solid working drive before going anywhere.

this stuff right here, guys helping each other out, is why I keep coming back to these forums.

I had pulled up the manual and saw this was a 220V unit with euroconnector. Didnt know what that was until I found a reference to scart. cool novelties has this cable see if they will swap out the one you got

diamondback 3 is a drive image creator. atarimania has the dl for it

try putting images in different order ie since pp image works put different images in that spot . rule out the images that way. Try getting pre split images to use. Try a chip programmer software for the image manipulation instead of windows.

well try using msa 1st if the disk isnt protected . you can use progem or proreb if it is . if the protection is too much for them to make an image, youll probably need a hardware copier. How did you plan on getting the image off the ST over to a mac or win box? unless you have a floppy on them , and that would make them old machines indeed.

i downloaded the image and in steem(sse) it shows image as 84 sectors but inside the emulator it shows 2-80-9 . I can see all the files but since I dont have any timeworks software to load the .img files i dont know if they are working. What ver of msa are you using for the image? I have jay 17 and 18 and the original msa ver 103 and 141. Maybe you could use proreb or progem to make an image. they had standard copy modes even though they were intended for protected stuff.

had to be summer 78. Dad went to sunnyvale couple times a month for work. came back one time with couple bags of what looked line electronics junk. it was the main board and switch board , the aluminum case, no bottom cover or plastic case at all. there were several carts almost all with no cases. There were jsticks paddles and indy 500 controllers. all sorts of random cables and components. apparently there was a place in some stripmall that would dumpster dive and get tons of rejects, I guess qa fails. This one had the rf box smashed we had to replace it and wire up and fix some controller issues. Had to hand craft a bottom cover for the alum box. eventually Dad got a plastic enclosure on one of his trips. it had the gray 9v wall supply and some early jstick versions at least from what I see in the forums.

this will still be no help but at least you wont feel so alone in here

is this more of a europe thing? at least late in the a8 life? I don't remember tapes much at all and while warez was certainly a thing, don't recall anyone daring to advertise (hey look at this !!!!) cheap ripped stuff.

gameplay makes the game, but I get your point. Just taking keystone kapers 7800 for example, though. So kickass. If anyone wanted , could your code be used to work on, (source) ? Not me as I couldn't code myself out of a paper bag.

does every thread need to get into what a 'real machine' means? We have had a lot of years to shake out whats needed with the hardware to get what we want out of it. If not everyone has the hardware, and really who does, you can play it on the emulators. the dev can make whatever he wants the way he wants, no deadlines, (Christmas shipment) manuals already printed, doesn't resemble screenshots. Who cares.

you seem to have conversions down, as i've seen several out in a very short period. Since you seem to be doing straight ports, and have mentioned several times you don't want to be changing fixing etc , I was wondering if you have reached out to the various super talented folks around here for graphics updates , sound music enhancements or game mode additions? Most of the Activision 8 bits did some level of updates . You can still release your straight across ports, people will still appreciate the efforts.

in the forum post you reference it links to a mag article and it says something about draft mode vs better quality. I don't know if nlq (near leter quality) is that mode or not, also switch 4 you might try as you say it doesnt do anything several tries. maybe eol or line feed (4) is incorrect. finally printer type bits (5-7) maybe 8? there were many printers of the era that said they were epson compat, but you had to screw around with settings , or didn't work right.

if you saw both colored that would imply there was another one which there isn't. that would lead you to chase incorrect words and you only get so many correctly spelled word guesses. your not allowed to just fill the lines with random letters to exclude stuff.

Do you think it was intentional on atari's part to make the cart slot tough to fit third party carts?

3rd party vendors were getting ready for a product that got shelved for a while. They had investments in cart molds and were not about to spend more money on replacing them until enough sales occurred.
