  1. I vote for the 16 or 1850 's , Issue with most of what they were proposing would have been quickly surpassed tech and or crazy priced. Seems atari had a few years there with insane excess cash to throw around and eng groups doing all sorts of crazy stuff. why they didn't follow apples lead and do superset upgrades to the chipsets , still support most previous software , but have faster cpu more sound and vid ability. Or the IIGS route. so good Jobs killed it so the mac could catch up.
  2. i would have to believe its irrelevant as long as it fits in the hole, matches the pattern, and can turn the bobbin. Be it hex head or slot or Philips head . and as you said something non conductive is better / safer
  3. I remember the ste had a couple jumpers that set a <> b internal external, i dont remember if the original st had that option.
  4. you could go with all items colors user selectable. background, foreground, icons, texts. Have a default (or several) then all the others definable. sure , you want stuff thematically a specific way, but since your actually thinking about this, make it possible for the user to change. If you are doing HS saves you could save the custom settings people choose.
  5. you could use an emulator (altirra), load the image , then save as X, different image type. atari800winplus has a misc pulldown that does a direct conversion. I have used this tool for long time , no idea if it works in w10 . also no idea if there is a tool that will batch convert disk. for some reason i cant attach it . it is atrutil by ken siders
