Atari 520STfm ... copying games to floppy disk!
Jfcatari replied to somacast's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I would highly recommend a greaseweazle for any ST or image copying to images! I used this to create .ST file from all of my old ST 3.5 disks. I was even able to get the Spectre formatted ST (mac on ST) disk images. https://github.com/keirf/greaseweazle -
SFF 320XE - "designed in Sunnyvale California"
Jfcatari replied to Spanno's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I am very interested in getting a few of these built from a doner 600Xl I have. What version of your board do you suggest I work with? 1.2? -
SFF 320XE - "designed in Sunnyvale California"
Jfcatari replied to Spanno's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Nice work! Sounds like I have more projects on my plate to explore now. -
Glad to hear the GT is up and running again! The GT was always a work of ART for the Atari 8bit line.

I would recommend the following project: https://github.com/retro16/acsi2stm I created an alt board here that is simple and all through hole design. This board is based on the design in the original above. https://github.com/jfceklosky/acsi2stm-alt-hardware I am planning on building the DB-19 version and placing them on ebay (at cost plus a small assembly fee).

The HD is probably toast. Is the drive SCSI or MFM? If it is SCSI you can look at one of the Zulu SCSI devices or a Blue SCSI / Blue SCSI V2 project. All of these use SD card for storage.

Good luck. I have an indus in mint condition that still works. I have replaced belts on the 1050 tandem with belts from console 5.

Jfcatari replied to Marius's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Thanks for mentioning that. I would give it try with -video-accel for openGL -

Atari 800 Emulator (Linux) on a Chromebook. How to install?
Jfcatari replied to Marius's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I just looked at the specs that should be a decent machine with a 12th gen i3 and 8 GB RAM. Did you check here? chrome://flags/ Type that in the chrome address bar and search for GPU. Make sure everything is on. -
Atari 800 Emulator (Linux) on a Chromebook. How to install?
Jfcatari replied to Marius's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
There is not much that I can think of to boost the performance. How much memory do you have? I know the chromebooks are not upgradeable memory wise like the Chromeboxes are. I have an Acer i5 8thgen chromebox with 8 GB RAM and it seems just fine for me. I have been working with Linux since 1994, so tinkering with Linux under Chrome OS, is like old hat to me. -

Currently ChromeOS linux is using bullseye, you can update to bookworm using the following. Bookworm includes atari800 version 5.0.0 while bullseye is using 4.1 https://medium.com/@ceroberoz/update-debian-bullseye-11-to-bookworm-12-in-chromeos-80509cf876d0 -

Any long time Atari 8-Bit users try the MiSTer core yet?
Jfcatari replied to SegaSnatcher's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Atari 800 Core does CPU 1, 2x, 4x,8x, and 16x. No on the Antic/GITA! Does do Dual Pokey. RAM sizes all over the place, and Drive speed Standard, FAST-0 - FAST-6 -
Any long time Atari 8-Bit users try the MiSTer core yet?
Jfcatari replied to SegaSnatcher's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I have a MiSTer and will check and let you know on the speeds. I think it does support faster CPU, not sure about Antic/GITA stuff. Also the MiSTer is a fantastic device! I have it running everything under the sun in the Atari line 2600 to ST, no TT though. -

New 22" monitor that works with the ST
Jfcatari replied to Shift838's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I have the 27" and I think it is a great monitor over all. Works well on all modern stuff along with the ST (low, med, high)! I do wish the 22" worked like the 27", I was also afraid of the size of the 27", but have gotten used to it. At least I can save others from making the mistake and picking up the 22"! -
New 22" monitor that works with the ST
Jfcatari replied to Shift838's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Yes I used an ST switching cable with the 22". It only works in HighRes. I also tried the box from Shift838, same deal. The 22 does support 4:3. The only monitor that works in all resolutions is the 27" Dell. -

Odd Issue with 130XE with Fujinet plugged in
Jfcatari replied to Jfcatari's topic in #FujiNet SIO Network Adapter
Thanks for all of the pointers! False alarm on the 130XE greenish screen. I had a marginal PSU being used. I should have started their first. I guess one of the 130Xe's was OK with the lower input value. With a good PSU that is outputing 5.12v both 130XE's are A OK with blue colors on the Fujinet config screen when the Devkit Fujinet is pulled in WITH or WITHOUT power to the Fujinet! -
Odd Issue with 130XE with Fujinet plugged in
Jfcatari replied to Jfcatari's topic in #FujiNet SIO Network Adapter
This is my hand-built devkit version. In my tests with each 130xe everything was the same. Nothing is getting hot on the green one. I will check voltages at the gita especially. The green 130xe is a recent buy from ebay. Got a source for 130xe regulator? -
