  1. Actually, it's a totally unique die cut sticker. NOT a mistake- this sticker was designed to fit on the cart. I thought I saw mention of the double label elsewhere...
  2. Anyone know what the deal with this cart is? I mean double label, as in the back side of the cart has a sticker/label that covers, oh, 2/3 of the lucious black plastic. It looks very official, as though it was stickered at the factory, rather than by some kid. Unfortunately it is being sold by a lame vendor who sells all 2600 carts at $5, and the other label is a bit worn, lest I'd have picked it up and sent a picture for your pleasure. Anyone know what the deal with variant this is?
  3. I need these, as long as they are in good shape and NTSC/N.American boxes. Are you selling them? How much would the be with shipping? Can you take paypal payment? Thanks in any case, ian
  4. Great idea. Complete with kiss outfit and hood or something. And make a special package for him. I picked up all that Ruxpin stuff at a thrift as a bundle for $60. I set the reserve at $150 because I know there's a chance that the bundle might not get that much attention- that's just how much I was hoping to make given the time and trouble it took to bring it home and list it. I suspect I won't make much more that that. If I do, well, more cash to spend on you know who.
  5. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcI...s&userid=ianoid My latest round of auctions- some classic stuff. Take a peek. Hopefully I'll make enough money to buy more stuff form Marco. So bid, because the money goes right to Marco. ian
  6. Yeah, looking at the original Telegames- with the white control panel (I forgot about that!) it would be a reasonably well done hoax. Doubt it would be a contest- let's hear about the contest then, eh!? Likelihood of this being authentic in my eyes: low.
  7. Actually, I hesitate to suggest that it's real. The serial number sticker on the bottom is intact- was it cleanly removed and reapplied? The control panel lettering is also curious- did he repaint each word in black? Isn't it normally white on black, not white on black? And then the green telegames lettering is preserved? I'm certain that the folks that thing that this is real aren't saying a word. They don't want to encourage any bids. What I consider suspicious is that the RF cable looks to have been reveresed- doesn't the internal jack have that stunted look, whereas the external jack look more beefy and black for folks hands?
  8. Check 'em out at: http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...s&userid=ianoid or go to www.ebay.com and seller search ianoid Thanks, ian
  9. I actually have a Space Invaders cart with a brail end label. I was meaning to post a pic of it. So weird! "Hey blind guy, hand me that Space Invaders cart so that you can listen to me playing it."
  10. Erm, I trade for TONS of stuff not on that wants list. I have like half the SegaCD, Saturn, Genesis and much less than half of the SNES and N64 collections. It's not THAT hard to find stuff that I need, if you have spares. I'm a pretty easy guy to trade with, once you get beyond common stuff- and I even need some common stuff! Sorry about that crashing. It's like the lowest budget setup I could get. I use www.lowcostdomains.com for forwarding Which forwards to Angelfire It was probably the absurd deluge of Angelfire ads that got you. In any case, the address is actually www.angelfire.com/id/ianoid I can also just post the list here, but I change it so often (trades and new acquisitions) that it would be more of a pain to update than posting a link. PM me if you want me to email a list.
  11. So I have auctions: http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...0&userid=ianoid And I have a tradelist at www.ianoid.com I've added stuff to both- some 5200 titles on the tradelist and more. I also take cash offers on all stuff. Thanks, ian
  12. CCE carts are not rare at all- in Brazil. Sure, you might have to wait a lifetime to find one here in the US. CCE, along with Polyvox and Dactar, is one of the largest producers of cartridges in Brazil during that country's piracy is legal and encouraged phase in the 1980s. A few titles are particularly unusual there, but 85% are readily available, including some cool odd titles like Stone Age, Fisher Price, and Snail and Squirrel. The Green and yellow labelled ones tend to be less common- offhand I think Pole Position is tough. There are a number of label variations (numbers and colors) that are of minimal interest aside from idiots like me. Apparently these carts were produced over the course of 6-10 years, so just like Atari 1st party releases, there are variations.
  13. rEMEMBER my children, one bid or side offer at a certain price does not a secure price make. Once the top end money wasting TI-99 contingent is saturated, you can expect prices to take a drop, but still I would be this cart would settle in at the $20-$50 range. We'll see!
  14. I'm updating the list which is 'mini' because the 2000 or so items I usually have for trade are in storage. So check these out. www.ianoid.com or look at the list below. Sinistar

Sinistar I am green eggs and ham. How do you Sini-bomb on the 2600 version? I don't have access to my stuff (again) so I'm wondering... -ian

    lochjaw

lochjaw is both a label variant and a subtle ROM variant. There are some subtle graphics changes, with minimal effect on gameplay. If you started Shark Attack and Lochjaw up side by side, you wouldn't have much trouble finding differences, more than just clouds, as I understand them. There are a few differences with the mazes if I remember correctly.
  17. I just don't understand why!? If you can convince a seller to end their auction, why shouldn't you? You're almost a fool not to try. I think that what makes the argument about 'fair' prices moot is the fact that prices are a sliding scale, and on eBay they constantly change. This is the charm of auctioning- you might get more than you expected- or less. However, expectations are everything and if a seller sells for less than you'd pay, so what. Hopefully they are happy with what they got. Life isn't fair, and eBay is certainly no exception. Note that 98% of you readers wouldn't pay $500 for an Atari 2600 cart, and bless your sensible souls (I'm not one of you.) 98% of that 98% are waiting to get that cart for $1 from their local flea, thrift, or from some random deal. You dishonest bastards!
  18. My thoughts, irrelevant as they are: 1)Best not to throw around prices when talking to vendors. They can do the research if they want to go through the trouble. Everyone has their own idea of value. Anyone who's sold much variety of stuff on eBay has probably granted their share of deals- and anyone who's bought much there has found their share of deals. Same for flea markets. I have ascribed to this philosophy ever since I started. 2)'All is fair in love and Atari' is about the stupidest thing I've heard yet. Money talks, sure, but anyone who expects to be part of this community has to accept responsibility for their actions. If they are a jerk, this statement does not exonerate them. 3)It's not over 'till it's over. I hope that stuff I buy shows up in the mail, but there's always a chance it won't, no matter the seller. If it's not in my sweaty palms, I don't have it- and even if I do, it's possible in the first week or two of having it (or while I'm at the flea market) that I'll be chased down to recall it. MCGRAIL, you may have sour grapes on the deal, but I think it boils down to my next point, which is irrespective of what I would call bad judgement in tell vendors prices (see #1 above.) 4)When a seller commits to a sale, they are stuck with it. That's part of eBay. I never leave negative feedback, but in this instance I would neg that guy in a harsh way. I would also complain to eBay beyond that for the sake of it. They seller is a jerk, and although CPU may have been peripherally involved in leaking what information was readily available, clearly the seller is at fault. You are punishing yourself be not being around here! Nevertheless, you will be missed. I say: let the stupid be stupid. Who says we're out to educate sellers? This isn't Atari Age university. If people want to use the site, let them. If they are silly enough to pass on it, let them. I suggest most of you consider this when dealing with 'outsiders.'
  19. Man, that was a deal. If I'd know I could get a complete 7800 collection for $350 in one shot, I wouldn't have bothered spending a couple years and about that much or more doing it. I guess my way was more fun.
  20. I dunno, maybe I'm exagerrating, but I think those 3 first star games are neigh impossible. 8-bit cart finds are all around more uncommon than cart systems like 2600, Inty, CV. So, the rares for 8-bit are really tough. I can see that it could take me 10 years to 'complete' my 8-bit collection with at least 10 titles almost never seen anywhere. Those First Star titles are up there. As with many things more rare doesn't always mean more money. Comparable 2600 carts could fetch 10 times more, fortunately for us collectors. I would guess Bristles could fetch $75-$200, more likely somewhere in between.
  21. Yeah, calcs used to be worth something on eBay. At least more of them. Some are valuable still, but it's either a saturated market or the buyers are wisened. I dunno. People just aren't spending anywhere near what they used to. I totally appreciate them for their kitsch and aesthetic, although not enough to keep them. Even if I just make a few bucks on those, I'm happy to pass them on. I get a charge out of buying them that is a few notches below finding old game stuff. -ian
  22. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcI...s&userid=ianoid I would prefer to trade any of these games for titles I don't have. Or just buy 'em. I can ship pretty cheaply.
  23. If you like good stuff made with outdated stuff, consider also Optiganally Yours, made with a bizzare Mattel Optigan organ that takes software discs from the 70s and Rob Crow/Guitar. Check out www.optigan.com Now to get this dang computer at work to download OGG so I can get more from the Observatory site.
  24. Finding stuff depends on: How many holy grails you are looking for- you're more likely to find other people's holy grails. For example, I picked up a Starfox Comp cart for SNES earlier this year. It's been years since I found a $300 2600 cart- I found a Lochjaw in the wild many years back. And I don't think I've even found another released cart quite as rare. The rest are from trades and purchases. I never found a Chase the Chuckwagon (trade.) I found 2 Mr. Do's Castles. I never found a Bomb cart (those are impossible NTSC), one of the really rare Spectravideos, the rare Starpaths... I haven't found THAT much really rare stuff, really. What you find depends on how much you hunt, and how good at it you are. Do you go to the same dead thrift stores in your town or do you drive 30 miles to go to 5 flea markets and 20 thrift stores four days a week? Looking more will increase your odds, but they are still odds- you may never find anything good. If you like hunting, it certainly helps. I think in general classic finds are on the downswing, so you just will see less 2600 than you might have 5 years ago. The more you see, the more likely you are to find 2600 rarities.
  25. I wish you had Sword of Saros. I need that one, and I'd give you $75 for it for certain with instructions. -ian
