  1. Out of interest, does a gotek drive support the direct sector access the p-code card requires please? Many thanks
  2. Thanks, the double stepping / incompatibility concerns me the most The idea came about because I have the powered external case that I got my 5 1/4" drives from to put in the PEB (along with the stepping board) and I thought I could make use of it in a cheap project rather than it just going to landfill I can pick up 2 unused 3 1/2" drives, 5.25 to 3.5 adapter trays and power adapters for about £50 all in, which I didn't mind forking out for given I didn't know how much I might even use them (if I were to get a couple of shift838 adapters that would effectively double the cost of the project) I don't really see me needing a gotek as I have the TIPI. As I say, this is more about making use of something that will otherwise go to scrap and because I like old school But the incompatibility that a lack of double stepping could cause means I think I'll hit the idea on the head and bin the case Many thanks
  3. Many thanks for the info I’ll have to have a think about which path to go down
  4. I was wondering which 3.5” floppy drives are suitable for use with the CC9900 FDC I was thinking about getting a couple of Samsung SFD-321B/LEC, but not sure if they are compatible to use as DSK3/DSK4 external to the PEB I’ve kind of ruled out a Gotek as I only have an M1 Mac and therefore no windows machine for the various tools. And I do prefer old school I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts please? Many thanks
  5. Keep safe @OLD CS1 (and anyone else in its path)
  6. Thanks @ti99iuc I have a spare genuine TI binder (got it from @arcadeshopper with EA in it, but in the end didn't need it as I got a free sealed copy of EA - long story) so will use that for my self printed UCSD manuals (if I don't find an original). I have a 750 sheet ream of US Letter paper on its way which will hopefully be enough if I print both sides.
  7. Thanks. Had just assumed they must of issued separate binders. At least it means there’s only 1 original binder to try and track down, though 3 manual sets. Thanks
  8. Just realised there are 3 separate binders, so a scan wouldn't work for all manuals in a single binder
  9. Thought I'd join in with a few pictures of my main system (F18A/PEB/Tape). Don't laugh, I have very limited space (and also had to fit in my C64/ZX Spectrum/2600 and all their related stuff). Spare PAL 99 is boxed up
  10. But call tipi can be lowercase of course
  11. I tried the whole line as in CALL TIPI(“TIPI.NET.TELNET”)
  12. Have you tried with alpha lock on? That works for me, but in lowercase system resets
  13. Sorry to be a pain, but does anyone have a scan of the UCSD p-system binder spine they are willing to share please? (Have got a spare TI binder and am intending to print out all the manuals, as I doubt I'll be able to find an original set) Many thanks EDIT: Can't believe I missed the scan I wanted on the previous page in this thread, sorry
  14. CS1 Support is working fine for me (thanks for the updated DSR @arcadeshopper) I did mess up initially and started my path with TIPI. (TIPI.DISKS.TESTCS1 for example) and got I/o error 66, but once I changed that to just DISKS.TESTCS1 it worked great Many thanks
  15. Am going to have to consider getting a cheap windows laptop for the various emulators I’d like to run and for tools like this
  16. Just written, compiled & run my first little test program Many thanks for getting me started I think all the manuals will be my bedtime reading for quite a while
  17. Turned out it was 4 disks, not 5, that I had Took a while to get my head around swapping the disks around so I could copy the 4 SSSD disks onto the 1 DSDD, but got there in the end and as a quick and dirty test I can now load *DFORMAT without error I guess next up will be to try a short program to get some kind of handle on how more of the system works Not used Pascal for decades so it won't be easy, but looking forward to it when I can find the time Many thanks
  18. Have got a set of 5 x 92k dsk images for those (Compiler, Editor/Filer 1, Editor/Filer 2, Assemble/Link, Utils) I downloaded from somewhere, will try to use those to make a single 360k disk (less utils) Thanks
  19. I found 30 minutes to have a play @apersson850 and can now find my way around the menu system with '?' and do basic operations like a disk directory. Many thanks Decided to create a work disk for when I try my first application so formatted a DSDD disk (using CorComp disk manager) and then Zero'd it in p-code. It asked for the number of blocks and based on your information above I told it 720 blocks which created a PASCAL file that filled the DSDD disk so that looks good But I don't think my boot disk is working properly because when I tried to execute *DFORMAT it gave a bad file error? Also, the boot disk doesn't have SYSTEM.COMPILER (there may be others missing). It was an image called 705.dsk I got from WHTech ftp site Is there another disk image out there that has everything on it I might need to use the system please? (I only have two DSDD floppy drives so would like to have a boot disk with everything needed by the system and use dsk2, or should I say #5, for my own stuff while I learn) Many thanks
  20. Hi @apersson850 Not had a chance to try anything as yet (am a full time carer so don’t get very much “me” time) Will boot it up again when I get a bit of quite time (time today was spent fitting a cru switch to my tipi peb to be able to move it out of the way when using the p-code)
  21. Just fitted a switch and it works a treat Is it ok to flip the switch while PI is running, but PEB is powered off please? Many thanks
  22. I keep getting grief for not even joining the family WhatsApp…
  23. Thanks for the info @apersson850 The ? mark was a big bit I was missing, I wondered why I couldn’t find other command options! Will give it a go thanks I’m not on any social media, in fact this site is the only site I’m a member on Many thanks
