I am a big fan of the first ever native Evercade game. It doesn’t look like much, but the music is fun and energetic and the gameplay is the mix of Joust and Defender (well, Dropzone) I never knew I needed. I hope the handheld can run it!

I don't know if the handheld can handle it. Its a fun game though.

I discovered a youtube video that has a 3d hidden game.

    Spoiler

    No game cartridge inside. Press L2 2 times, press R2 2 times, Press L1 2 times and R2  2 times. It a steam/PC game from 2018.

  3. The Secrets I know are in the spoilers in terms of how to get the secret games.

    Spoiler

The first secret game is you have to put in 2 game cartridges.

It does not include Renovation collection or Gremlin Collection 2.

You need to put in Piko Interactive Collection 1 and Gaelco arcade 1 in the Evercade VS.

I just discovered a 2nd secret game for Evercade VS on youtube.

    Spoiler

You need to press the grey square button on the Evercade VS controller without a game cartridge. I think you have to press the grey square multiple times.  It is a steam/pc game.

So I finally got my Evercade Renovation Collection in the mail yesterday, popped it in and wow, it's not great. Exile's almost unplayable due to the accept and cancel buttons almost feeling like they're on turbo-fire. Way too easy to miss dialogue or use menus.

I've got to be one of the last people to get their preorder (amazon), so it's weird all this stuff hasn't all been identified and ironed out.

this is on the latest vs firmware, had to update that again today to see if it handles HDMI differently/better, which it doesn't.

handheld confirmation was done on somewhat older firmware before the vs changes.

The issue with Exile and Beast Wrestler has been fixed on the VS. It is part of the firmware update that also included Tapeworm: Disco Puzzle, and a new secret game. What I know is the Evercade VS system that I use was updated today.

I'm late to the Evercade party and wish I had gotten into this sooner.

Been burnt out on games and such for a good while and didn't pay any attention to this until recently.  I'm really surprised by it.

Maybe I'll get smacked for saying it but, the Evercade is what I would have wanted the Retro VGS / Chameleon to have turned out to be like.  Cool games on collectable carts, with manuals and in a nice cases, plus regular releases to be excited about.  There seem to be a lot of games on the carts that are things I've not seen or ever played so it's pretty interesting to get introduced to things.

I was able to pick up the VS console and a few carts, but haven't found the handheld anywhere for a reasonable price yet.

You are not the only one that said the Evercade is what you wanted the Retro VGS/ Chameleon turned out to be like. My younger brother is the same way in terms of Evercade being what the Retro VGS/ Chameleon should've been.

You made a wise choice getting it. The homebrew/little known carts is what I got me to Evercade.

I recently ordered a mega ever drive pro from Krikzz. I did receive my order a couple of days ago. Since then I have noticed Krikzz's website says "out of stock" for all ever drives. As most of you know Krikzz is based in Ukraine. I'm just wondering what will happen considering the future production of everdrives.

I checked out Krikzz's twitter account. Krikzz tweet on the 24th mentioned hearing shooting time to time and is hiding in the basement as of that tweet.

I got the information from this tweet link:

    https://twitter.com/krikzz/status/1496965485111488518?cxt=HHwWjMC50a2LpcYpAAAA

All I have to saw is hopefully Krikzz is still alive.

As a side note, I love a lot of the homebrews on Atari Age. I would love to hear any suggestions you guys might have for any homebrew that would make a good unlockable easter egg for the Evercade

Any of the ones I mention for the 7800 and 2600 would be good for an unlockable easter egg.

Dragon's Cache, Failsafe, and Riki and Vikki for the 7800. For the 2600, A Roach in Space, Galactopus, K.O. Cruiser, Ninjish Guy In Low-Res World and Space Battle.

Blinky Goes Up, Spies in the Night, Lead, Draconian, Space Rocks and Beef Drop are my favorites of the standard-joystick games. First 3 being more original ideas, last three being clones of popular arcade games.

On another side note, would it be possible for the unlockable games to stay unlocked in some way? Remembering what unlocks what seems an unnecessary hassle. Also collectorvision seems to be making rom packs available now (currently two collections).  This is pretty new for them, and I wonder if maybe they'd be down for an evercade deal.

Draconian, and Beef Drop actually are arcade ports not using the arcade name of the games.

I know about Beef Drop. I was around Atariage as a lurker when Beef Drop was worked on the 7800, but the late Ken Siders didn't get the okay at the time. Ken Siders did the same thing with Q*bert being called B*nq for the 7800.

Intellivision Collection 2 coming. The “viral” clip Evercade posted on Facebook has the skulldude from Tower of Doom and the creepy voice quotes the manual for that game.

Hoping Cloudy Mountain and Treasure of Tarmin are on there too. If they’re taking trademarks off old games here’s hoping for Tron :)

I seen the tease also on twitter. I didn't forget that a Intellivision Collection 2 was mentioned last year as a part of the Intellivision 1 Collection announcement. I am happy that its still happening with the Intellivision Collection 2. Intellivision Collection 1 to me was one of the better 6 collections that were released.

The only question is going to be what other games and if there is any homebrew games on this collection like the first collection had in Princess Quest.

Thanks for your support! Trying to provide the best service possible to Evercade fans. Thankfully Evercade tends to release carts in pairs, so that helps offset the shipping. Plus no annual fee required at Songbird. ;)

I am impressed with your service already. My younger brother ordered Evercade Vs premium pack and the 4 other collections. He received them in January from your company.

  11. Great topic. Good thing I keep a track of what games I own. My 7800 list helps me out in this case.

My younger brother and I got a 7800 for Christmas in 1989. We were in Grade School at the time.

We got games from 1989 to 1991. Some of the games from 1989 to 1991 were Christmas gifts in 1989 and 1990.  I don't know where my parent got the 7800 games as Christmas gifts for sure. I remembered using Sears Christmas Catalog, and JCPenny Christmas Catalog's as kids for making Christmas lists. I know JCPenny in 1990 did not have 7800 games in their Christmas Catalog.

I also got 7800 games JCPenny in 1989 a couple days after Christmas that year. My younger brother and I went there with our parents. The games I got there were Tower Toppler, Xenophobe, Double Dragon, Rampage and Pete Rose Baseball.

I recalled getting 7800 games for Kay Bee/Circus World while discounted and I think I got 1 or 2 7800 games from Children's Palace.

What we got from being discounted and get as Christmas gifts were Asteroids, Ballblazer, Centipede, Desert Falcon, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, F-18 hornet, Food Fight, Galaga, Hat Trick, Joust, Karateka, Mario Bros, Ms. Pac-man, One-one Basketball, Pole Position ii, Real Sports Baseball, Super Huey, Super Skateboardin', Touchdown Football and Xevious.

  12. Earlier this in 2021, I beaten: Ys Origin and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for the Switch.

Ys Origin had great music and game playplay. It is bit different as YS game compare to the others that I've played. It is a dungeon crawler. The graphics are what you expect out of a YS game that uses the Ark of Napishtism game engine. That game engine is very old and Ys Origin originally came out on Computers in 2006 that happened to come out in the switch in 2020. Each character's adventure is your typical YS game before YS 7 in terms of amount of time. All 3 Characters take can take up to 10 hours each. The game does a great job of tying up loose ends and sets the events up for YS I and II great.

YS IX is a pretty good game. I think a little of experience of past YS games is a good help. There are references to past YS games in YS IX. YS IX soundtrack to me isn't quite as good as YS VIII. There is still good music in the game. The gameplay is great. There is great character development for the secondary characters.

So remind me Technos and Namco are cutting off evercade shortly (unless some new deal is made) is it just on the console carts or the arcade ones too?

It is just the console carts. You got time with the Technos arcade cart.

Santa Albert left me K.C Munchkin and Jr Pac Man. I knew he was real. I hope Santa left you all some cool Atari stuff or whatever it is you asked for!  Now if only the elves could get serpentine, Atariage Circus, and Bentley bears crystal quest back in stock :)

I was given Medieval Mayhem for the 2600.

  15. Evercade has a hotline now. That hotline has announcements for new games, new carts, and new hardware. You also find out new tricks & tips from that hotline.

I know Blaze does retro, but I did not that expect that type of retro. I did not call the hotline.

Unsurprisingly, Namco 1 & 2 and Oliver Twins end production next year (in June and March respectively): https://evercade.co.uk/looking-forward-to-evercade-2022/

Very surprisingly given the brand new arcade cart, Technōs 1 ends production in March as well. It’s not my favorite cart but River City Ransom and Double Dragon II are a good time, and Kunio sports are always fun. It was good to have the “finished” revision of Super Double Dragon as well. Maybe Arc System Works didn’t appreciate the middling reviews it got, or maybe sales were poor. That’s a shame.

Also prices on the handheld are going up next year, and prices on the cartridges are going up in the UK and Europe but NOT (????) in the US, where they were already the cheapest.

There is one good thing to look at. Blaze did say they are going to release 15 cartridge next year and 9 of them are already signed. The other 6 are almost there in being signed. They mentioned they will be releasing more arcade cartridges, more indie games, and more home console classics.

Looks like someone already did it. Where is it available?

Mr. Do is not done and is not available.

What you saw was a proof of concept. Darryl did that  to see if Mr. Do is possible for the 7800. Pengo and Kick-Man also were proof of concept when this video was made back in August of 2021.

What I can tell you is Darryl had problems with Mr. Do as a proof of concept in terms of programming. It was easier for him to do Kick-Man and Pengo.  Pengo was worked on and appears to be completed as a game unless a glitch/bug is found.

I don't know when Darryl is planning to do more work on Mr. Do.

I wonder if they've tried to get that corrected and Namco won't budge as it is strange.

There was an Evercade podcast that had Andrew and Ryan from Blaze as guests. That podcast happened Yesterday. Andrew Byatt is the managing director at Blaze Entertainment.

There was a question on the podcast concerning Namco. Blaze tried to get that corrected according to them.

They mentioned the Namco Europe branch had no problem with to allow the 2 collections to run on Evercade Vs., but the problem is in Japan. The Europe branch of Namco talked to the Japan branch of Namco and Japan branch opposed the 2 collections run on the Evercade vs.

Seriously?  Why would the Namco games fail?  If I remember right, aren't they entirely just Famicom carts emulated on the system anyway?  Seems like bad design, a glitch, or intentional sabotage?

Namco games failing on Evercade VS is not a bad design, or a glitch at all.

You are dealing with an odd contract between Namco and Blaze. What makes it odd is Namco only allowed Blaze to release the system on a Handheld and that same contract didn't allow Namco Collection 1 & 2 to be distributed to North America online stores. How North America Ebay sellers were able to sell those collections was buying the collections overseas online and resell them for a profit.

By allowing those 2 collections to be played on the Evercade vs, it would be violation of the contract. Blaze found a way to prevent the Namco collections not work on the Evercade Vs as a way not to be sued by Namco for breach of contract.

Yes, the 5200 could have a massive success, if

    - the controllers were much better and different, like a modern flight-stick with numerical pad beside.

    - the RAM was bigger or had a Mem.-card slot (making all atari-8-bit coukd work)

    - new games came out steady pace

(Atari has for a long time been very bad at making sure there are many hi-quality games out there with their systems, - as Atari VCS iz out now, it seem to still be sort of a portal to Retro-games or portal to portals of retrogaming - this arcade-stream-thing and using it as a PC, and well, go for Mame… where is Star Raiders 2222, with planets to land on… and explore FPS-style, stations to dock with - and explore either as welcome or unwelcome guest (think alien or star wars resquing Leia), plethora of ships, shops, enemies, monsters, missions, galaxies, Boss-fights, and ways of playing the game (true open to set-story-line mode), … hmm, ok, many thoughts there…)

    - producing and distributing widely 2600-5200 converter-pieces.

    - - -

But they did nothing of this.

So now its the retro-gamers who can advance it.

More ram was not realistic at the time for the 5200 from a stock hardware standpoint. The 5200 had 16k of ram and the 5200 cost almost $270.00 in 1982.  You can make the argument of the size of the system playing a role of the cost, but the 5200 with 48k of ram or high in 1982 would cost over $270.00. Video game systems in North America were not exactly successful if they were launched at $300.00 or more dollars before the Playstation came out at $300.00

The cost of the 5200 was one of the reasons the 5200 was not a big success. My point having 48k of ram like the Atari 800 had was not affordable for price in 1982 even if the size of the 5200 itself was smaller.   A smaller 5200 being cheaper would not be less than $200.00 with 16k ram in 1982. The only possible solution I could think of for what you want is an adaptor/add-on device.
