Yep there are standalone apps that run on your desktop as well although they often require updates as ebay updates their site/API, etc.   If you have the ability to whip up your own that will submit a bid with 6 seconds left etc.. that'd be the way to go.

well worth it! I use 7800's instead of 2600's now. It's that much better for the video mod on a 7800, 2600's are so hit and miss. 

I used a snipe service once because the same seller had a ton of scarce games with manuals all ending around the same time.

Or I used it for those late night auctions  I didn't want to stay up for, or auctions that ended when I wasn't going to be home.
