  1. Yeah I noticed the instructions on start up, and understood why they were there after playing for 10 minutes lol Shmups are a genre I considered to be far outside my comfort zone, but your game is easing me out of that comfort zone. I usually don't get frustrated by a game if I don't care for it. But this game is making me like shmups, and want to get better at them! The 7800 is pretty decent hardware wise for it's generation then. I also noticed the ROM is only 48K, that's pretty nuts since the game is so gorgeous, and huge too!
  2. I figured out the gameplay mechanics of Dragon's Havoc, My my inexperience with shumps means my accuracy is near 0 lol
  3. In a lot of games, you cannot fire more than 2 shots at a time. In Crystal Quest, like any old Mario games, you can't fire more than 2 shots at a time. This gets me killed more times than I can count, and its extremely frustrating. Now I don't play many shmups, but I was playing Dragon's Havoc, which is otherwise a great game (or else this wouldn't bother me about this particular game), but only being able to fire one shot at a time, and have to wait for it to slowly move across the screen, and until it's off screen, you can't fire another shot, and I get killed. And Dragon's Havoc is already a super tough game as it is. If this is a deliberate design choice, I'm not a fan of it AT ALL.
  4. I would have just liked to have seen most of the games the NES got appear on the 7800. If I were in charge of Atari in 84, I would have made Bentley Bear Atari's mascot, and made Crystal Quest lol and start a whole line of games like Nintendo did with Mario. But really, it would have been awesome if the 7800 got more ports.
  5. This game has always caught my eye as being a simply gorgeous arcade game with it's ridiculously colorful graphics, and it would have been cool to be able to compare the NES, SMS, and 7800 versions, as it seriously pushes the color capabilities on the other two consoles. I just love the way this game looks.
  6. Yup, I got it all figured out lol thank a bunch! The only thing about playing CQ on the concerto, is that the sound is messed up, but other then that, it seems fully functional.
  7. Do homebrews work with official 7800 controllers for you?
  8. Ok, I need to try other controllers, I was trying to use a genesis pad. The prolines, and the CX-78 work fine for official retail games. Crystal Quest does not work with any controllers however. And thats good to know.
  9. Oh I get it, I have the hokey version. Thanks a lot. So for future firmware updates, I can just put the new update on the SD card, and update it from the concerto menu on the console itself? Or only through a computer? Also, just to be sure that nothing is wrong, many games do not register any controller input, or very limited controller input, is that normal at the carts current stage of development?
  10. I myself would love a copy of Crystal Quest, but it isn't for sale anymore. Paying $75 sure beats paying $400 for a random copy that appears on ebay once a year lol
  11. First, I noticed the cart is not super usable yet. I bought the one with the soldered hokey chip cuz I'm not a technical person by any stretch of the imagination, so will that make updating the firmware impossible? Since people say you need to remove the sound chip to do so. Second, what's the exact proper way to update the firmware without destroying anything? I know about the harmony software thing, but does the SD always have to be in the cart? Install drivers? Just want clarification. I really hope we don't have to wait 7 more years before the cart is fully functional! As many home brew games cost hundreds if you can even find the carts! Thanks much in advance!
