  1. I'll never forget the price I paid for this because it's marked on the back of my cartridge. I got #40.
  2. The only game I remember turning over was Pinball.......in fact the game is easy enough to turn over that I did it in my first try in 20 years a couple of months ago......lol
  3. Which of course is like saying I prefer water torture over having my finger naills pulled out. I hated Pete Rose baseball because it was WAAAYY too easy to score.
  4. I personally enjoyed E.T. and Pac-Man both as a kid. We owned Pac-man but not E.T.. I played that one at a friend's house and enjoyed it. I think I even managed to get E.T. home once or twice. Must have been on the easier levels or something.
  5. Thanks, that site is what I was looking for and yeah I'd already been through the high score contest thread. Didn't see River Raid in there though. I can't believe people played the game long enough to get 1,000,000 points. I wonder how many hours that takes.
  6. Yeah I really don't see what could be put into Beef Drop to improve it. I can't play Q-Bert because it hates my Radica modded stick otherwise I'm sure I'd tell everyone that I think it's awesome too.
  7. Is there a website with a list of 2600 world record scores somewhere? I'm just curious to see just how much better really good players are than me. I've googled and searched this forum with no luck. I really was just looking for the River Raid world record but if there is a list of other games it would be cool to see those scores too.
  8. Here's the main difference. The main purpose of a computer is not to play emulated Atari 2600 and 7800 games. That's only something a very very very small percentage of all users use the machine to do. The main purpose of creating another Flashback machine that could play roms would be specifically to circumvent someone else's trademarks and copyrights and it would be easy to prove. Any large enterprise that tried doing something like this would be sued quite quickly.
  9. Combat, Adventure, Space Invaders, Pitfall
  10. If today's consoles really only had awesome graphics and terrible gameplay no one would have them. That excuse is a total cop out. Many games today are ten times better than those we had on the 2600, 5200...etc. I spend just as much time on today's games as I did with the old ones........especially with the multiplayer modes they have. Some would say today's games are overly complex while people quit playing those early games because they were overly simple. The one downside to better graphics is you have to put more and more labor into doing individual models instead so gameplay areas shrink because they just don't have the manpower to model that much better complexity on the same size area of game real estate. Even if that does reach a limit I'm not sure why that would mean people would start playing crap games with crap graphics from the early 80s. My CC2 proves just how many bad games there were for the 2600. If I had to choose between today's games and those from the 80s I'd choose today's games in a heartbeat. I only have a 7800 and CC2 to relive my childhood. Sure there are a few games from that era that I still love to play but for the most part they are trash just like most of the games of today.
  11. Of course it was frivolous. That's what being a kid is all about.
  12. Too bad you don't have stock certificates 2600 and 7800 as well. "just" having #5200 is cool enough in it's own right though.
  13. I see one problem with warlords being a hit. It needed paddle controllers. As long as the game let you wrap around your area just using a dpad or something by pushing left and right it would be great. These days htough they'd have to have power ups and special weapons or kids would get bored and it would have to come as part of some sort of party game as one of the mini games inside like in Super Monkey ball etc.......
  14. I think the following line was probably pulled from a webpage with a url under "here" so it would read like this: Make sure there is an ip.bin file in the game folder. If there isn't one download this ip.bin and put it in the game folder. There should now be a 1st_read.bin and ip.bin in the game folder. Basically you just click on "this ip.bin" to get the file.
  15. I thought Adventure was awesome as a kid. I won't touch it now. Honestly though very few 2600 games hold my attention now like they did when I was a kid. They're a nice diversion for 10-15 minutes at a time but that's it. My nieces and nephew have lots of fun flipping through my CC2 though and finding old games to play.
  16. If I had to guess it was probably Combat but it also could have been Space invaders or Air-Sea Battle. I was like 8 or 9 at the time so I don't really remember.
  17. I'm guessing you missed this page where they have 5 separate zip files that contain all the roms (besides activision of course). http://www.atariage.com/system_items.html?...&ItemTypeID=ROM
  18. I just tried this thing with my CC2. Trying to use my Radica SI stick with it was absolutely awful. I had to be pushing really hard into each input direction to get Qubbie to move. Anyone else notice anything like that?
  19. Another thing I'd like to see is detailed instructions on how to get a Pokey chip onto the CC2 or it would be nice if someone offered the service to put it on. I also noticed something else today. I originally bought a sandisk 32 mb MMC card and some cardreader from Newegg.com Some games wouldn't play and I had problems with one of my menus and didn't know why. After Paranoid telling me that Chad had said it was all based on the Sandisk standard I went ahead and got a SanDisk card reader. At first I still had the same problems with the card as before so I went ahead and formatted the card and it's worked flawlessly since then. Before Ace of Aces wouldn't work right and I think my alphabetized "R" menu was corrupt too but it all works just fine now.
  20. Do these homebrew guys even have CC2s? If they don't own one I certainly wouldn't expect them to know what the menu line should be for their game. What information from the programmers would make it easier to figure out the bankswitching required? I look in the bankswitch folder I see 41 different possible bankswitches. Now when I look at the menu I created that only has my 7800 games in it, there are 2 options for bios used there...the 7800BIOS and HSC. Now, it looks like of the 41 bankswitching files 20 can be used for 7800 games. Do people really go through all 20 to see which one works for these homebrew games? If someone wants to write something up I'll host it. I've already started a sort of very basic CC2 FAQ.
  21. One on ONe basketball has always been my favorite.
  22. Got mine back today. OSG fixed their work. Looks great in all games now.
  23. If you look on the scoreboard it looks like each team should have timeouts but I can't figure out how to get them to work if they exist. Kicking a field goal is impossible too and I can only seem to get the qb to throw to the guy at the bottom of the screen.
