I do think it's a cool idea even if someone accidentally necro bumped a thread although the light gun part would definitely not fly with people who no longer own a CRT.

If consoles continue to simply be an upgrade of the current x64 architecture these games could theoretically be playable on the consoles of 2026. Personally I think two issues will keep games from being all that different than they are now. 1. It's becoming more and more difficult to make faster CPUs using silicon. 2. It already costs a lot of money to pay artists to render the current worlds we have in games so only developers with enough money to pay a lot of artists can pay to have the best graphics. If graphics get much better it's going to be more and more difficult to guarantee anything but a AAA blockbuster will make money with the latest graphics.

There's a lot more money to be made on consoles than the PC so I'm not sure why any developer would ever do that. I guess it depends which game genre you're talking about and the size of the studio. There hasn't been a Madden football game on the PC since 2008 because they aren't worth the trouble. The PC version of AAA games have typically been console ports and plenty of those ports have been terrible for the past couple of generations of consoles. Heck, 9 months ago the PC version of Batman Arkham Knight was so bad Warner Brothers offered people refunds multiple times. I think most of the games that start out on Steam start there because they treat it as a test market before going to consoles. Part of the allure of doing this is Valve doesn't charge developers to release patches. They also allow developers to release as many patches as they want whenever they want so this is a much lower barrier to entry. While Farsight started their games on consoles first their Steam version of The Pinball Arcade is a perfect example of why the PC version of a game could be a lot better than the console versions. They can patch the Steam version whenever they want and get feedback from their Steam customers on what they screwed up then fix it quickly. The Steam version is now easily the best version of their game. When they release on consoles they're charged a lot of money to release those patches and those patches also have to go through Microsoft and Sony QA first. This forces Farsight to think long and hard before releasing new content on consoles. I doubt any of it is being lazy, especially in an industry that's notorious for it's overtime practices. It's more likely they simply ran out of budgeted money and need to release the game to bring in more.

I'd be interested in picking up a dualshock 4 because I'm kind of a controller collector but don't really care about Sony OnLive.

I haven't played it but Dropsy looks weird.

I wonder if Kickstarter was asking them for better prototype proof after people flagged it so they cancelled the project before getting booted off the site. Otherwise I don't see why they'd cancel the Kickstarter project when it was still funded at 3x their initial goal regardless of whether people were crying scam or not. I say continue with the video since this thing is still around through that Celery thing.

Apparently they got around to showing another prototype. I'd still stay far away from it. and this one although there's no way to know what's actually driving the screen it could actually be connected to another device. So yeah, all their videos are from the same perspective and never show the back of the device. I'd stay far away.

Did the person selling it know what they had? I'm surprised you found this on craigslist and not eBay.

If you don't have a card reader that supports MMC you'll need one of those too. In my experience it's best to get a card reader that supports as few card types as possible.

It's recommended you get a SanDisk RS-MMC card. The first one listed on that eBay link should work fine.

New Pinball Arcade from makers of Williams Collection

Farsight yanking season passes had nothing to do with Microsoft. Apple didn't want them selling a season pass without disclosing what tables people were actually purchasing so farsight went ahead and pulled season passes until they'd announced all the tables in a season. They also went ahead and did the same thing for every platform except Steam. They may have later reinstated pre-release season passes on other platforms but I don't remember. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/210888/Pinball_Arcade_developer_yanks_season_pass_citing_Apple_policy.php Also, he explained how preordering a season pass saves him money over buying each table individually. Individual table packs are $5 a piece so buying all 10 table packs in a season is $50. Season passes go for $30. Not sure how buying an individual table screws up buying a season pass on the Wii-U but if Kosmic Stardust states that's the case then it probably is. It's pretty obvious Microsoft isn't super big into their parity clause in every case because the Xbone has consistently been behind the PS4 on table releases. -
If I try a game and decide I'm not going to play it right away I delete it and immediately request a Steam refund because deciding I'm not going to play it "right away" means I'll probably never play it. Valve hasn't turned me down since I'm always well under 2 hours and 2 weeks.

Activision/Steam are judges and jury (Not)

I'd have to side with Activision on this one. -
Space Sims making a comeback (Chris Roberts)
HammR25 replied to cimerians's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
I'd rather buy a game from a competent developer. This garbage is still a terrible pre-alpha tech demo while Infinity Ward is about to ship a real game in November. -
Why VR is so DIFFICULT & EXPENSIVE & should gamers CARE?!
HammR25 replied to Metal Jesus's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
Looks like Six Flags is using this VR thing to boost ridership on some of their older coasters. Not a bad idea since it's much cheaper than spending millions on new coasters.- 34 replies

I sent Telegames an email and got this response about the PC version.

I agree, because that's how the big boys do it. No one ever has launch titles when they release new hardware.

I'd say probably the word Jaguar combined with the year 1993 and probably done by a web crawling robot.

Gamestop is selling their remaining stock of Steam Controllers for $35. Use promo code SAVER for free shipping. http://www.gamestop.com/pc/accessories/steam-controller/121865 You can also get them through Steam for the same price. No idea what shipping costs there. They're both selling the Steam Link for $35 as well.
