  1. Was this game ported from the 8bit version? Thanks again.
  2. The fact that you mention there's only 3 games using analog controls tells us you're not familiar with the games. For 99% games, the analog works great for me on the 5200. The trackball on the 8bit is different than the 5200. To say the 5200 controls suck says you probably don't know how to use them. I've got the scores to prove the 5200 sticks work well on many games. I used the 800XL from 1984-1992 a ton. And I am one of those people that have 1k+ games. I know it well and I've played it more than the 5200. But the 5200 in 2022 is a gem especially for those that grew up with it. Today, I find it easier to load up games than the 8bit. And frankly, I play the 5200 much more even though I love my trusty XL.
  3. In order for the Jaguar to have survived, there would have to be a high amount of 3rd party support maximizing the 64bit hype. Mortal Kombat 2, Super Street fighter 2, and Virtual Fighters were huge in 1993 and would have to be on the list. With only a handful of decent games, the Jaguar was doomed. Also, you couldn't find the Jaguar at major retail stores. It should have been released in major stores like Kmart. I bought my Jaguar at EB Games.
  4. There are two types of 5200 boxes. The first generation box is huge. My original box from 82 XMAS was cut up into a poster frame and hangs in my recording studio. lol.
  5. In terms of the internals yes, but the nothing was shown in terms of the games. The whole 64bit advertising was all hype. But the brand loyalty and hype led me to purchase the jag in its release.
  6. There was nothing innovative with the Jaguar. There was no large 3rd party support. It really was destined to fail.
  7. Musicians doing cover music and asking a developer to do an 8bit conversion to the 5200 is not the same. That's not a good comparison.
  8. Got mine in 82. The 5200 was such a blast and ahead of it's time.
  9. I thought the box was pretty artsy looking. The cartridge looked really cool. Supposedly Zenji CIB is for sale over 100 bucks in eBay. The music of Zenji and Pengo have similar vibes even though the music are different imo.
  10. Any Zenji fans? This puzzler was one of my favorites. I think the game is underrated. I always loved the music.
  11. The lynx world is pretty amazing. There are so many great games on the little console. I haven't gotten Sky Raider because I'm still trying to finish Wyvern Tales.
  12. It's interesting that Atari even released the XE game system in 87 with the 7800 out. XEGS was just a repackaged XE 8bit with a gun. I actually couldn't stand the XE keyboards and preferred my 800XL. Seems like a desperate move on Atari's part using 70s technology in 1987.
  13. Really pointless thread. I grew up on both 5200 and 8bit. While related, the 8bit is a computer with games that have much depth. The 5200 is a console with 8bit DNA. They are both part of Atari history and family and shouldn't be argued which is better. They both have had their roles in gaming.
  14. Hey, never knew about this. Thanks. Was this an 8bit game converted by you to the 5200?
  15. Please don't include me in your requests for conversions again. That's not cool. If someone actually worked on a 5200 version, I'd support it and purchase like I have many 5200 games.
  16. There's a much faster reaction time on an upgraded gold dot 5200 fire button than the wide hard to push intellivision. Intellivision is one of my favorite consoles.
  17. The intellivision keypad can be hard to press. Upgraded 5200 sticks with the gold dots make the keypad much smoother than intellivision. You can tell a difference between trons deadly disc vs 5200 Intellidiscs. You can't also move the disc and press the keypad at the same time on Intellivision. Many people that grew up on the 5200 sticks know how to take advantage of the analog sticks for games like Centipede and Galaxian. The 5200 sticks innovated controls for gaming. It's too bad the flex circuitry gave out and made the sticks unreliable.
  18. Would be cool to see a 5200 version using the keypad. The 2600 version is already very good. Superman is another version that would be cool too.
  19. I'm a fan of Antstream but the app is so glitchy. From controller issues to things not loading up, it's really annoying. Anyone else have similar issues?
  20. Definitely not a bug. In transition, you have to avoid the spikes. If you die from the spikes, you have to avoid it again in transition. That's what happens in the arcade too. This game is pretty amazing and a 5200 version exclusive.
  21. Any news on a Vault 3? If you had to choose, which games would you like to see? I'd like to see more 7800 and possibly some Jaguar games.
  22. Star Island was not the result of your work directly, it was @playsoft. And it was me that brought up the original topic of Star Castle.
  23. Sure you can say that about any console or even any computer because the US market was saturated with many consoles and computers at the time.
