  1. I have decided to scrap every thing. For some reason, I just really dont care about the Stella lite anymore. I apologize for causing all of the stir up and "controversy." Bassicly, what you do, is take an Atari flashback 2, add a cardridge port via the pin outs provided on the mother board. then you take the pokect TV specifed in Ben Hecks Atari section in his book, and modify it to be back lit by LEDS instead of the back light bulb. Then you build a standard controller, also specified in ben heck's book. Here is the hard part. I could never really figure out a way to connect the controler to the pin outs of the FB2. Measuer or find out the voltage consumption of the unit, then sauter a voltage regulator to the pin outs of the desauterd power cord. Add batteries. Then connect the screen via the video pin outs on the FB2, and the pokect TV. Do the same thing with audio. then boom, you got the guts. Now mind you, it has never been tested, so do not count on it working. Once again, I apologize for the stir ups, and I hope I havent upset you guys to badly. Besides, I've never desinged a portable before. So I suggest to leave it to the pros like ben. Bottom line, I was way over my head, I had a lot of work, i was lazy, and I'm just an ameture.
  2. listen, guys. I had a lot a stuff happening latley. I'm only 16 years old, so I gotta deal with school, and Ive been having some family issues. I just cant seem to find any time to get it off the ground. So instead, Im gonna give you guys a step by step process to build the guts as soon as I can. Now I can't gaurnetee that it would work becasue it has never been tested. Hey, look on the bright side, at least you can build it yourselfs for a even cheaper price. Sorry guys. I've been WAY over my head.
  3. I decided that the casing would be shaped like a gameboy, but a bit fancyier. I have access to a CNC machine so it would make it a whole lot eaiseir.
  4. sorry about the long absence guys. School has become such a pain lately. And my dad and I are still working on Ben's NES portable. I think I found a sponsorship for the Stellalite though. A coulple of friends at school have a video game team called team 501st. If I can get them to sponsor me, the construction process will be much easier. KJ
  5. Nothing I say. I mean, Ben sold a bunch of VCSp's with heavly modified 2600's, and did he get in trouble? Besides, I plan on disabling the rom chip in the FB2 board in the units that will be sold, and only the prototypes will have the rom chip still working. Would'nt want Atari to sue me for re distrubuting all thoes roms for a profit. (Sorry guys.)
  6. I've been thinking of making 2 prototypes. 1 for testing of general use. It's mission is to appeal people and see if it can do what its desinged to do. The other one is for testing with power hungry items like superchargers and 32 in 1 cartridges. By the way, I just hit the first snag in construction. I want every one who has one to be able to play games such as warlords, but it has to have a paddle. I read bens book, and it say's I have to use a "Fat Green Capacitor" for the Atari board. However, the main goal for the "Stellalite" is to prove that you can make a VCSp without sacraficing anything from an orginal Atari. Do any of you know if the FGC has a number so I could buy one at an electronics store? KJ (Mariobros300)
  7. I just thought of a name for the protable! How do you guys like "Super Stella"?
  8. I'm still yet to build the prototype. So don't hold your breath on pictures.
  9. Try cleaing your games. New pin connecter + dirty games= ruined pin connecter and no play time! You can get a great profesinal cleaing kit on ebay!
  10. Oh... Just one more thing. I can't think of a name for my protable. I can't use Vagabond or VCSp for obvious reasons. Can you guys help me out? KJ(Mariobros300)
  11. Here's the differnce between Ben's VCSp, and mine. Ben: Uses a hacked up Atari board. Requiers video and audio output modification . can only use the 3 inch screen. Me: Use a multi game in one console with a added cartridge connecter. Has modern video/audio output. No modding required. With AV option, you can play on a normal TV. However, Ben's tech did give me some help. My portable uses the same style screen. His book helped me to come up with my idea, and will soon help make it a reality. Thx Ben! PS: The reason why I did not reveal what multi game in 1 console I'm using is because I don't want anyone stealing my desing. Just a precaution. Sorry. KJ (Mariobros300)
  12. Maybe a 5200 portable can be made. Try finding some pirated version of it inside one of them multi game in one controllers. If Atari makes a Flashback 3, maybe it would have a 5200 emulater inside.
  13. I just desinged my own version of a portable atari 2600 VCS. Once I am done with the prototype, I plan on selling units to the general public apon request. I found out that it would cost $100 and at least a week to build. So I figured that the price should be $150. Note, it has an optinal feature. AV audio and video out put, so you can play on a regular TV. I just wanna know. I'm planning on eventualy posting an ad in the forum for the portable. But since they take a week to build, and there are thousands of Atari fans out there, how could I possible keep up with the demand. And based on the features, would you buy one or not? Specs: 3 inch LCD screen, player 2 jack. Oak casing AV output (optinal) Price w/out AV: $140. Price w/ AV: $150. KJ (Mariobros300)
  14. I want to hack into a Pitfal rom and creat a game called "Ape Canyon." I want to add donkey kong sprites in the background, increase the playable characters head size (the character in ape canyon is named block head.) and at the end of each stage, I want there to be a king kong sprite. (the story involves searching for the sasquach.) Can you guys help me out? Can you tell me what software I have to use (mac or pc) what hardware I have to use (if I do) how to edit and add graphics, and how to release it in cartridge format? Thanks Kyle (Mariobros300)
