I'm moving there. Anything nice there for older game stuff? anything interesting in general in the state at all? I'm in connecticut now. Lots of nice flea markets and yard sales. I find rare games all the time.

I just bought what looked like a normal cx-40 or whatever but under the boot, the stick was black plastic, not white. I haven't opened it yet, but the clicks inside are really loud, so i don't think it has membrane switches. The plug says atari but there's nothing on the base. Neat. there's always variants of stuff, a lot of the time it was for an atari computer.

i don't see a lot of air raiders lying around. and winter sports is a really excellent game, i think the best sports compilation style cart except maybe 2600 california games or nes crash n' the boys. our two beloved flea markets here, rocky hill in RI and mansfield in CT, were abuzz with rumors of closing but they're both back up and running. Gothmog the terrible is pleased by this.

secret quest is impressively put together and has a lot of things going on in it, it's more of a PC shareware era type of computer game. It reminds me of commander keen and such. Adventure is one of those atari games that, because of the limits of the system, simplicity, or whatever, doesn't fit readily into a defined genre, and is thus more interesting and fun.

How much gold is in an average Atari 2600 cart?
stop_rebel_scum replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
guys, guys... all atari games are basically golden -
well, obviously the ps3 is sowing discord in the "dudes and certain amount of dudettes who enjoy discussing atari online" community... perhaps it Is the spawn of satan. As far as the media... gentleman A insists the media is wholly controlled by commies, whilst gentleman B suggests nazis control the industry. Obviously, they both cannot be correct (these are hypothetical gentlemen, both of whom i've met many times). In truth, the media is controlled by profit, which happens to make them sympathetic to whoever has power. Thusly, if the current administration (this includes all branches and even some powerfully connected NGO's) swings a given way, then the media follows. So at the moment - formerly hefty on the right wing, bending back towards the fuselage a way bit.

Yea. I've been going to thrift stores for about three quarters of my life and I can confirm reports they're drying up as far as good games. The goodwill near where I live still accepts games as old as atari, they're about 2 dollars a piece which would be great if they were ever any rarer titles. I find genesis games routinely and snes fairly rarely. I took a good sms Haul with all the good shooters such as rtype, fantasy star, space harrier, etc for three dollars a piece. I also found an original gameboy. They're often trying to sell PS1's for ten dollars and failing, which amuses me. Flea markets are great for NES and newer systems, but anyone who has atari in any quantity tends to overprice, assuming they're all rares. Good atari hauls are now yard-sale only, thusly. Realredfive pointed this out to me: always ask if they have any old games, because people often don't think they'd be worth selling at a yard sale or have forgotten them in the attic.

I haven't played atari in three months because my 2600 games have been packed away for out of state girlfriend visit. Except the box of activision ones, anyway... I have noticed that I don't miss the atarisoft titles, especially the box with the first 35 titles. I guess I could go for some breakout, adventure, warlords or invaders but the other 20 something don't tempt me. Instead, I have been playing nintendo. Arkanoid counts as breakout, though, if you have the paddle controller.

I don't think spacechase is a very good game.. agonizingly slow. So this monogram is inserted into the programming and displayed on the screen at some point? oh, I see. Foolish, but amusing.
-
could you list the games? some of these are hard to see.

Songs that mention Atari or Atari games?
stop_rebel_scum replied to godzillajoe's topic in Atari 2600
I have an ep coming out with 7 or so atari themed songs... All the songs except one are done, sitting on tape, they just need to be mastered. I'll put up samples somewhere when they're all ready. -
fun game. i can fit the telegames into my systems : 78, 26, gem.. maybe there's excess plastic flashing or some other quality control issue

isn't that more of a "deliberate bug" rather than a condition of frying? it'd be nice to have a list made of known fryables and their result. I've never done it.

Rainbow Invaders Label Contest - Winner Announced!
stop_rebel_scum replied to Albert's topic in AtariAge Sponsored Contests
Was mr. lee's entry really entered past the cutoff or merely not posted when it came in? nicely done, anyway. I imagine we'll find out who won on the day after tomorrow. -
How many activision games were based on an arcade game at all, anyway? and in my opinion, stampede isn't a sideways shooter or kaboom at all.

Rainbow Invaders Label Contest - Winner Announced!
stop_rebel_scum replied to Albert's topic in AtariAge Sponsored Contests
hehe. Tell us who the other two almost-winners are too please! It's great that game authors can use atariage like this and have many choices for their label. Some of the past contest winners (and losers) have done amazing art. -
oh, and the go fish! author is vdub_bobby BTW. sound familiar? he's a nice fellow.

hi matt. alicia says she loves the way i type she is squirming all over me like a flying lizard how are you the gemini controllers ain't bad. firing button gets tiring after a while though so no for shooters usually unless you hold it down permanently welcome to atariage, which has me, and some other people, and some other people.
-
WOOOO! now.. how to spend 100 bucks without the girlfriend ever noticing... *i hope i win the rainbow inv. contest* haha

I always thought it was called "bobby is going home"? or is that something else

Gauntlet is actually pretty fun, no? You know, usually the rare games are arse.

Funny you should ask.. just last night I finished a song for my forthcoming atari EP... came out really well. Once it's finished, mastered, produced, etc, i'll see if al feels like stocking it in the store or not. It's pretty much acoustic folk/punk stuff, of which I have about 12 albums. i had all these game songs that didn't feel like they belonged on a serious record with the other tunes so now i'm compiling them. hold on, let me find the file for some lyrics... in 1977 in sunny sunnyvale california they rode a giant wave that rolled into the future on a tide of chips and bits and joysticks and beeping a blessing or a curse - now ain't that the truth for better or for worse - the future of our youth until 83 or 4 when the wave came crashing to the shores and all the games went flying to the shelves of discount stores cause mr. jack tramiel couldn't get a handle on the demands of the market so he told the nerds to park it down went their plans and the dark ages began save for brazil where it was still king of the hill now our favorite girl's moving up in the world the lifetime of atari's not over, no, its just begun ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ i'm gonna get, to the other side, i'm gonna cross, that road if i die you better bet i'm gonna try and i don't care, what i find there snakes and alligators why won't you leave me alone i don't come and bother you in your own home i'm so tired of hopping i'm weary to the bone -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- five million aliens lost under the desert sands Such a friendly face, buried in a lonely place roswell, new mexico: you don't even know now i'm in some deep shit, get me out of this damn pit i want reeses pieces bits, i want my telephone kit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- there's a jungle where the vines are black hanging off from an old wooden rack it's a break from reality it's where you wanna be and after i've earned my rest, i don't want one more test so why would you try to live again after you die? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- oh, and there was that wintergreen band with the E.T. video... i couldn't hear the music for some reason but the video was pretty cool. And everyone in the atariage store, of course. Boy and i consider slocum and bobby/tommy montgomery atari lovin musicians even if they don't have non-atari instruments (that i know of). Plus that intellivision surf band or whatever?
-
Very cool. Do you know offhand what your total expenditure was? have a picturing of them glowing? it'd be great for a game like the newer one, Mogno's rainbow invaders, to have a white LED in it and some rainbow-printed plastic film positioned around it with a clear case... but how much would that add to the cost?
