give it a rest people...its just a video game console...get a life!!
Pot, meet Mr. Kettle.

at least i dont hype a piss poor system
-
nintendo is having a hard time vs sony and M$? wow... huh, i guess then nintendo leading the sales in consoles AND portables this year is just thier way of a slow painful death.
its a wonder how people like this are allowed to even talk.give it a rest people...its just a video game console...get a life!! geeze, ive never seen people so defensive over a game system there are more important things to worry about you know...

-
yep, i also agree it would be great if sega and atari came back onto the market.
The only way that would be possible is if the megacorps decide to drop out of it. Nintendo was the strongest of the old game companies, but even they have a hard time dealing with the weight of Sony and Microsoft.
...its just a dream we know it wont happen though... yep nintendo is having a hard time competing with sony and microsoft.

I want Sega and Atari back in the console market, and i wish i could write this text on a brandnew Amiga instead of a shetty Windows PC laptop.
I guess, i am just a grumpy old geezer, but hey, at least i got a brandnew Wii, and i like it..

yep, i also agree it would be great if sega and atari came back onto the market.

Unless Nintendo gets very brave, then they won't go after the high-end market again. That arena has become a side-business for larger companies that can afford dumping tactics on a scale which pure game companies can't compete with. Microsoft didn't mind risking huge losses on the XBox while getting themselves established, and Sony doesn't mind losing money on the PS3 to establish Blu-Ray. If Blu-Ray catches on and the entire PS3 generation never turns a profit, Sony will still be happy. Nintendo is the only remaining console maker that actually needs to make consistent money on video games. They also don't have the manufacturing/distribution assets of Sony or the development assets of Microsoft. Nintendo just isn't big enough to compete at the high end anymore, so they'll stay at a more practical distance from it.
great post i totally agree with you on this.. Nintendo is slipping they really cant compete with sony and microsoft... face it Nintendo isnt the big fish in the pond anymore and it shows ...if they want to get back their thunder..they should have released a system that could actually compete with the higher end systems ...instead we got the wii (shudders)
Okay, either I missed the point of that post or you did. I thought he was saying Nintendo has to stick to their new niche (avoiding the high end grpahics/processing power batle) if they want to remain a profitable and viable company, as they can't afford to go that route. You seem to be reading it to say Nintendo released a terrible system and should have tried to make a more powerful one. The way I'm reading it, it's like saying a company should just make lap tops, witout chasing the high end gaming rig computer market. That doesn't mean they release shitty computers, just a different kind of computer.
yes, Nintendo did release a lack luster system it could have been much better .. this is my opinion on the wii..end of story i mean come on can you actually say that the wii is better than the 360 or ps3? lets be honest. and no i didnt miss anything

Nintendo will go the way of Sega and just be a software publisher next generation.
Right, because they aren't selling enough Wii's to warrant yet another console.
yep. they arent selling enough wiis..where i work people are always buying 360s and ps3 s..and we always have the wii sitting on the shelf..
Yep, you're right; they aren't selling enough Wiis. All the confirmed reports of massive shortages and huge sales, as well as Sony's concurrent massive layoffs and firing the head of the PS3 division, certainly says a lot less than how things are going at your one tiny exception to the rule. Where do you work by the way? Chavingtons?
Target electronics dept asst manager chicago
my brother works at best buy and he says the same thing...the 360 and ps3 are dominating sales now..(then again im not surprised)
-
Damn them. Rogue Leader sold me a cube. I can't afford a PS3. Why must Factor 5 taunt me so

lots of good stuff coming soon..cant wait to see factor 5's next star wars game

-
you have to love the marketing departments..what were they smoking when they came up with this concept? totally pointless.
-
my friend got his for christmas, and then January 15th he had to send it to M$ due to the ring of death.
i had mine since launch day 2005 and i just shipped mine to microsoft today for repairs..so i got a lot of gameplay out of mine . so im keeping my fingers crossed ah well, at least i have my ps3 ..
-
Not to go off topic, but what is this game like? I wanted to try it, but I wasn't sure what kind of genre it was. Is it a hack and slash type game or more of a strategic game?
Is there even a PS3 version or is it just Wii and 360?
Tempest
i just got mine for my 360 today. love it the graphics and gameplay are incredible...
its for all systems...even the wii (shudders) although why anybody would want a wii...is another story

a customer told me this last night and he has a point " ..if you had a choice of purchasing a xbox 360 or a ps3 with their awesome games and graphics etc then you look at the wii.. with its so so graphics and strange controller(thats what customers call it).. what would you choose? " its like choosing between a ford mustang and the ford pinto.. theres no contest ! you pony up the controller is unique ill give it that but these motion controllers arent that new of an idea..
personally for nex gen systems have the xbox 360 and the ps3 and they are incredible my brother has a wii. and after playing it for a few hours i was saying this is it? it was a letdown i know ill get slammed here but i think nintendo dropped the ball with this one... they could have done so much better..
the wii sold well when it was released because, it was cheaper , and it was an alternative for people who couldnt afford a ps3 or a 360 or couldnt find one in time for christmas...i remember we had 10 wiis left over on christmas eve alone and 2 returned after christmas with the customers asking to be notified when we get more 360s and ps3s in stock it makes you think.. is Nintendo losing its thunder in the home console wars? ...i think so.. i have friends that are hard core nintendo fans and they all laugh at the wii and all say the same thing..its a kiddle system it cant compete with sony and microsoft..
my five year old nephew even said the wii is childish guess what he wants ? a ps3 (smart choice) i asked him why? he said the systems have more power and better games.. pure and simple.. he got his yesterday for his birthday and he loves it...so if a child can see the faults with the wii..why cant the adults gamers?
ill admit id like to see the new metroid for the wii and a star wars game with lightsaber action, but thats about it
but in fairness the gba sp and the ds (which i love) are still selling really well..so nintendo is doing something right..at least in the handheld market.
as for Nintendo making abother console..id like to see something better than the wii..something to truly compete with sony and microsoft not just offering a funky controller thats the real gimmick of the wii even the nintendo fanboys have to admit this.. as for me.. when i play Nintendo...ill stick to my nes, snes, n64 and gamecube...i enjoy these systems a thousand times better than the wii and i know im not alone...
if your going to argue..do it smart and not just say ps3+ 360s suck etc..
-
Good:) now hopefully things will start running smoothly for the ps3
-
Yeah folks have been talking about that since they announced the price.
No way is that not too much to ask for the HD...Then again, you don't really need it, so it's not like it will be forced on anyone and $179.99 won't break the people that would be spending the $$$ on Live to put content on the HD.
I've seen folks pay $1,000+ for an Atari cart... Some would call that insane. I'd imagine a person could get much more use out of a 120 gig HD then a copy of Lochjaw.
What kills me is this is a win/win for MS. First you have to buy the extra space, then you have to buy the files...from them, to put on it!! LOL *cha-ching*
It'll be good for folks that don't own a 360 yet tho.....or crazy folks with too much money.
i agree, its insane to spend that much money for just a hard drive ..although the 360 elite is a good idea for somebody that never had a 360.. personally, i dont need a bigger hard drive ..and im not a fan of online gaming so a larger hard drive is a waste for me ..my premium version 360 is more than enough..
-
My PS3 is sitting in its own cubbyhole with the controllers and etc. stuffed in there with it. Fortunately, I was able to refrain from wrapping it in fiberglass and plastic wrap, so I haven't had any overheating issues.
my ps3 and ps2 are right accross from each other... my 360 in the middle....my brother calls this set up the sony towers of power..its funny...

-
i cant wait to get a copy:)
-
Yeah, not going crazy this time around. I just want the HDMI and bigger hard drive. Those were 2 of my gripes with the 360 all along. Plus I am interested to see if a whole new set of failures will come with the elite edition.
ill stick with my 20 gb premium xbox 360 i dont like online gaming and i have no use for the wi fi
-
the wii is just a novelity game system... yeah, if you want to look like a idiot waving your hands etc at your tv screen and then your wiimote sails into your tv screen cracking it...by all means get a wii.. ive tried out the wii at a friends house and after 20 minutes i had enough ..my gamecube games look so much better...nintendo dropped the ball with this one.
Brace yourself for the Attack of the Acolytes of Nintendo !

i mean seriously, Nintendo has had really GREAT systems such as the nes,snes,n64, gamecube... i still HAVE these systems and STILL play them and enjoy every minute ... sure the wii, was a interersting idea and such but nintendo sorry to say "jumped the shark" with this one..and i know im not alone in saying this... sure the downloading classic games is a nice feature but for me, its not needed because,i still have all my original games...but to a newcomer this is something to check out..i suppose..
where i work, the wii was mostly purchased only because people could not get their hands on a playstation 3 or a xbox 360 or afford them and some of them were returned later because of controller malfunction..or the person didnt want it people would call in and ask do you have any 360s or ps3s? and we say no but we have a lot of wiis then there was a click...
the graphics are not really next gen quality when i went to e3 with my boss , and first saw the wii, i said "this is it?..this is what nintendo has been raving about?" and then when i first saw the controller my boss was saying " you have to be kidding? " sure its unique but nothing we havent really seen before there have been other motion sensor related controllers/products in the past...anybody remember the nes power pad?
id be interested in possibly purchasing a wii for one thing...a star wars game that features lightsaber combat.. other than that ill stick with my Playstation 3 and my xbox 360 for true next gen gaming and my classic nintendo systems for "playing nintendo"
-
Yeah, don't go to an actual video game store. You might accidentally watch the ending to a game you wanted to get or be compelled to buy one of their store guarantees that don't actually guarantee anything.
i suggest, picking one up at target/wal mart..they have better prices...and you wont be pounced on by the "pimple faced..may i help you?" clerk
but avoid going to a dedicated video game store for the actual system...they jack up the prices so much.
-
Look on the bright side. In 30 years, an NTSC PS3 20GB model might be worth something.
yep, thats what i also say...so take good care of yours

-
Sony has officially stated that there will no longer be a 20GB version sold in North America:
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/11/r-i-p-pl...cially-no-more/
..Al
same old sony marketing sticking in the gamers ass again...gotta love it..
i have a 20 gb ps3 now its going to be a rarity..all the better:)

1. Yeah, I decided to buy my PS3 at a Walmart for that reason. I don't need some kid giving me advice on what console to buy. I'd like to go back in time to when video game store clerks didn't want to talk about video games and just rang me up. I bought Oblivion at Gamestop later on; the guys were talking about how Wii would win this generation and they shut up real quick when I got to the register.
2. Meh. I think the boxes are pretty sleek.
3. It's the future!! Seriously, it's a new format and more expensive than, say, DVD or CD. Remember, we saw $60 games back in the NES/SNES days.
4. Yeah, it's big, but it doesn't have the same 'doorstop' quality of the XBox or N64.
5. Heat blowing out of the system = heat not in the machine. I'm not actually hearing many incidents of PS3s breaking down, which is good.
6. I agree. It definitely feels less like a toy and every aspect of the design makes you feel like the $600 is well-justified.
+ The AC4 demo didn't impress me, sadly. The graphics and the gameplay both felt dated. Resistance is a solid shooter. Go download Gran Turismo HD also, even if driving games aren't your thing.
yeah, i also agree while i got my ps3 at work right off the truck...my friend asked me to go with him to target to get his ps3 because everytime you go into a best buy or a circuit city you always get that " know it all, pimple faced geeky teen " who thinks hes gods gift to retail sales pouncing on you the minute you enter the coveted video game area ... and then trys to give you "advice" that you really dont need...i just tell these guys ..look, if i need your help ill ask it..that usually shuts them up..
i remember when i bought god of war 2 a few weeks back the clerk was telling me that i should wait till the ps3 version that the ps2 version "sucks" blah blah blah ...i finally just said look , just ring me up huh? or ill go elsewhere... its the same in the computer dept...i know what i need/want just ring me up and let me get on with my life i know your doing your job but drop it down a few notches...
as for you getting a ps3 congrats...its a awesome system just like the 360 your going to have a great time... the one game you have to get is resistance fall of man..and then check out spider man 3 lots of good stuff there..... but i have to say, why are you griping about the game prices? .its new technology so its to be expected remember the nes/genesis/super nes/ days the prices were up there as well... the ps3 is worth it..same with the 360 these systems are the real deal for next gen... you get a lot for your money..
as for the dorks at gamestop, saying that the wii will win this next generation...they dont know whats going on period (remember they are usually 5-6.00 dollar an hour slackers who cant get a real job)...how can you compare the wii, to the ps3 and 360?? its like comparing a ford mustang to a ford pinto..
the wii is just a novelity game system... yeah, if you want to look like a idiot waving your hands etc at your tv screen and then your wiimote sails into your tv screen cracking it...by all means get a wii.. ive tried out the wii at a friends house and after 20 minutes i had enough ..my gamecube games look so much better...nintendo dropped the ball with this one.

The PS3 costst €699 ( $927,684 ) over here in the Netherlands.

damnnn thats a lot of fish

-
Well I don't know about rest of the Europe, but here in Poland PS3 goes for 2400 PLN, which is slighlty above 800$
EIGHT HUNDRED bucks, in the country where average monthly salary is around 700 $
Now that is expensivewow 800 dollars for a playstation 3? thats insane...thats 100 dollars more than my rent... here in the US we have the scalpers and such im glad i got mine with my work discount...otherwise i wouldnt have bought a ps3...
this goes to show you..sony dosent really know how to market this system..

funny add...thank god the ps3 controller didnt end up like that!
