i know what you mean, Just a plain GAMING system would be a godsend, but we live in a age now...where we have to cram evwerything into one system..sure its a nice idea etc but its really not neccessary...half the time i just want to play a game... i happen to like the blu ray format, but mostly i prefer dvds i also have the hd dvd drive for my 360..but to be honest...the picture quality is all the same in most respects...

Honestly, if they did that, the gaming press would be... unkind. Meanwhile, I think it would be a great idea. Strip the thing down until it's a device focused on gaming, and I might even buy one. hmm it seems likr the gaming press is already unkind...but im not a hugfe sony fanboy...i know some people that think the ps3 is the second coming LOL its a gaming system nuff said...

a system isnt everything. the saturn was an awesome system, with many many great games. but the marketing sucked, and they did a lot of moves that were plains stupid.. ringing any bells? and look where that ended up. in fact, many "good consoles" die quick deaths because of the marketing or inner politics. yep the saturn was a great system..i still play all my sega systems...all of these systems had a lot of promise but they somehow get ruined by corporate greed, screw ups, and marketing...im a business major and my professor used sony once as a example of poorly ran marketing practices... a lot of my classmates said playstation 3 even my professor agreeded personally, i think the gameing companies should STOP trying to cram everything into a system making it a "all in one" package because that drives up the cost etc....if you want to surf the net..get a computer (i dont know anybody that even wants to use a video game system to surf the net with thats ghetto..get the right tool for the job) if you want to watch videos get a dvd player(but ill give props for this one though i use my ps 3 and ps 2 as back up dvd/blu ray players) besides all that extra wear and tear could mess up your system down the road...

the ps3 really isnt that expensive..considering your also getting a built in blu ray player.. which is a great deal in itself... sure the price should have been lower...its still high compared to other systems...but what did you expect from sony? their marketing department is run by morons who are only thinking about their pockets..thay dont care about the consumer. i almost didnt get one myself because like most people i was shocked by the price, but where i work i had first pick of them so i thought why not? id rather get it here with my discount than on ebay later... where i work the ps3 sells well..both versions.. and with the news that sony will possibly sell a even more stripped down ps3 i bet that will sell just as well.. bottom line is..if you want the system you'll pay for it. funny thing is we will be discussing/bitching about topics like this all over again when the playstation 4 and Xbox 3 is launched.

yep, get a ps3 now before they botch it up ...but dont get rid of your ps2 ..because the ps3 cant play some of the ps2 or ps 1 games.. i have mine next to each other(my ps 2 is also modded to play import games so im not trashing that ) so theres no problem.. if it dont work in one system i pop it in the other my ps3 cant play the following.. Star wars rebel assult 2 (ps one) Gran turismo 3 (playstation 2) Soviet strike (ps one) Robotech battlecry (playstation 2) everything else plays perfectly...this is to be expected though...its like with the 360 and their backwards compatibility issues also... BOTH companies even said hang on to your other systems... personally, i think the need for backwards compatibility will be phased out at some point...

you have to understand..Sony's marketing department is run by a bunch of retards..who dont know what they are doing.. thats why the ps3 is getting lack luster response...personally, i think its a great system and im happy with mine.. as well as my 360....never wanted the wii.

i had this problem last night...this morning i called the customer service..and ordered my shipping box...it has to go to microsofts repair center..

I hope not. $50 a controller is already bad enough. I don't want to pay $60 per replacement controller for an additional feature which no one wants. who says you have to buy the new controller anyway?

Maybe because 99.9% of the world can't afford or find the room to collect for two different formats. Very few people want to risk wasting money on a player that won't have movies for it in a few years. i second that...why not get both:) i got my ps3 and my hd dvd add on for my 360..im all set.

the playstation 3 is a terrific system. and im really enjoying it ..but i have to say they are really screwing up their marketing and manufacturing of the console.. (they should take some lessons from microsoft or even Nintendo) now removing the concept of backwards compatibility this is just another slap in the face to gamers/and future purchasers ... and just to mention..NOT ALL playstation 2 games will work on the ps3 same with the playstation one games...my advice..hold onto your playstation 2 systems..you'll need it still.. i have my ps3 and ps2 right next to each other... remember, when the ps2 came out...they had problems also...but not as bad as this..sony should take notice on what made the ps2 such a success and use that knowledge for the ps3,'s marketing and manufacturing process but once again it boils down to the stupid corporate mentality of sony ...sure the ps3 is a wonderful system..a all in one system if you prefer.. but the bottom line, consumers look at the price tag like it or not and the super hugh price still turns people off where i work i remember we always ran out now we have so many 20 gb and 60 gb and we cant get rid of them now its like i want a ps3 ok, how many do you want ? but if you notice..the xbox 360 still sells really well and even the nintendo wii sony says that there will definetly be a playstation 4 system...lets hope that it has a smoother launch than the ps3 ...i know people that have the cash and would rather get a xbox 360 (i also have one and its a great system) or gasp even a wii (dont know why though...the wii is pathetic nintendo dropped the ball with that one) someday, i wont be surprised if sony eventually comes out with a totally" revamped" version of the ps3..meaning a even more stripped down model with no blu ray /dvd or anything... just the purpose of playing the ps3 games...mabey sony should have done something like this from the start..it sure would have kept the price down.. but if you are like me and have a ps3...relax and enjoy what you got. its a well built system and a lot of fun and the best games are yet to come (spider man 3 anybody:) ..if you dont have one...i say wait a while.

im pretty impressed with my playstation 3 and my xbox 360...both are great systems. and i cant wait to see what comes out next for games.....as for the nintendo wii...im not crazy about it..the graphics are not all that..i have some gamecube games that look better.. ..as for the wii controller im not impressed...its just a gimmick in my opinion...ive played the wii and was saying whats the fuss? i think nintendo dropped the ball with the wii...personally i think the best systems nintendo made were...the famicom, the nes, super nes. and the gamecube...

same here its everyday "hey do you have any ps3 in stock?" and we tell them" nope check back later" ..yesterday i actually had this guy start to cry when my boss said no ps3 will be in until after christmas if any ... i mean crying over a system...thats pretty lame.

never get rid of your old systems....because you never know when you might need it...

at my store...we dont even advertise that we get them in anymore..because they go so fast...when we get them in its usually one or 3 we got people still lining up every morning before the store opens.. funny thing we got 5 nintendo wii in stock and we cant get rid of them LOL

yeah, im not happy with the wii controller either my friend got a wii a few days ago we started playing wii sports and we both said with all this high tech out there why is there still a wire? it makes things awkward (you can tell nintendo was aiming this system at kids and casual gamers) the 360 and ps3 controllers are great.. although i do like the wii classic controller thats coming out later...if i ever get a wii that would be my controller of choice.. as for the wii's graphics...theres nothing spectacular. its just a tweaked up gamecube...thats why its so cheap.....i have some games on my gamecube..that look better than some wii launch games... if you want true next gen gaming get a xbox 360 or a playstation 3.... or both

the quality of the picture and sound of a blyray disc vs a dvd is about the same in my opinion..i have a hd tv and tried out both discs... nothing really spectacular to report sure having the blu ray player inside the ps3 is a great idea.. but for some reason i dont know why the colors on my dvds look sharper when played on my ps3 so this is a good thing:)

I just got my playstation 3 today...its a aweaome system...but i have one question...i have some import playstation 2 games(macross. ultraman) and ive heard that these will play on the us version of the playstation 3 because both versions 20 and 60 gb are region free..is this true??

ok , i dont get this..whats the point to this video? first off anything could have been in that bundle...some people have too much time on their hands it seems..
