But wait... Seeing Opcode is basically Coleco now, if we are to believe the Rumors and Lore of video game history... Coleco aka Opcode could never release such a beautiful Donkey Kong game for a NON-COLECO system right? Oh wait, Gary let us know that wasn't true...

Yeah, playing ROMS for most of the stuff I collect doesn't bother me at all legally since it's so old but of course for newer stuff I totally get it. Something about emulation just bothers me in general though. I'm a gamer but I'm also a collector, I like "the stuff" man! Just the ROM doesn't cut it for me, especially if I really like the game!! In some cases I really do like buying the games more than actually playing them haha (Rare atari 2600 games for example) Actually a guy here by the name of @IcedCornholio recently said "I come from an era where having the cartridge meant something" or something to that effect...and I totally get it....totally... If you feel weird about playing "stolen" emulation you could look at it this way... As long as you own ONE physical version of the game you could emulate the rest? For instance, say you own Joust for "midway arcade classics" on the xbox. Well WB got their money from you (for Joust) with that purchase so now maybe you can play Joust in emulation for any system (atari 2600, 7800, lynx, etc) Not sure if that would help your conscience or not but maybe???

For the record I still think a Jaguar plus is impossible but, this would be one system where re-releases of the same games would actually make a lot of sense and probably sell very well, especially if they kept the $30 game price point. Unfortunately selling "very well" to a "very small" group of people would still be a failure on a business level...

Is Iron Soldier as good as the cover looks?
Crazy Climber replied to Buyatari's topic in Atari Jaguar
IIRC the ONLY thing I didn't like about Iron Solider was the lack of a save function...it's been a LONG time since I've played it though but I do remember having a lot of fun blowing stuff up -
Is anyone making any impressive Dreamcast homebrews...
Crazy Climber replied to atari2600land's topic in Dreamcast
Dreamcast aside though teh SNES must be kind of difficult to program for since there is definitely a lack of quality homebrews compared to other systems. I mean even the Neo Geo has more and that can't be cheap to produce... -

Crazy Climber replied to atari2600land's topic in Dreamcast
The neo geo dev team stuff was pretty impressive (Gunlord, etc) but I guess they were technically Neo Geo games first. I'm really bummed out they stopped porting stuff to the Dreamcast too because Kraut Buster looks freaking sweet (but I'm not paying $2000 to play it...YET at least) Like Austin mentioned Sturmwind was pretty good if you like shooters, I think I still have the Kracken plush they gave with it somewhere in my house even though my copy of the game is long gone lol I really liked a game @Tursi made way back called "Cool Hearders" it's a fun multiplayer game! I'm not super active in the dreamcast scene but there is a LOT of homebrews popping up for it lately, I'm sure some are pretty damn good Some of those small teams are really making some impressive stuff though lately! Demons of Asterborg (sega genesis) blew my freaking mind haha -
I'm guessing a Jaguar plus is impossible but lets just pretend it WAS possible for a second... It would probably have a LOT to do with how many 2600/7800 plus units sell. I mean, lets face it, if they don't make a decent profit the Jaguar plus won't even make it to the maybe stage How many people asking for a Jaguar plus own a 2600/7800 plus? Not being rude (I don't own one YET either) just sheer curiosity

Nice! Oh totally, it really WAS cool!! For me it felt like the Playstation was just a new generation of gamers, it didn't have the "cool factor" the Genesis did (or if it did I was too old and out of touch to notice haha) I agree the Xbox kind of captured it too, I even bought one and pretty much all I bought/played was Nintendo stuff by this point. I did feel kind of cool playing Halo and StarWars battlefront, and other multiplayer games, even though I was terrible at them haha

You are likely a little older than me but close enough in age to where I totally get this. The Sega Genesis was the first console I paid for with my own money, I just started high school, had an actual job and no bills or debt so I no longer had to beg for games or resort to tactics like returning bottles/cans, mowing lawns, lemonade stands, you know kids stuff haha Which brings me to my point. This was my first real "adult system" I guess you could say, or at least it felt like it. Games like Altered Beast and Ghouls n Ghosts just blew my mind. It was an arcade in my living room, like for real. The sports games were super popular with the older college aged kids in my neighborhood so I felt pretty cool hanging with them and playing Genesis...even showing them a trick or two lol. It was a super cool system and I don't think I could everpart ways with it (especially now that the homebrew scene is really picking up for it!)
