User-Defined color selection. It was prior to move the purples to the next row, without affecting much the colors of the common palette in the 2600/5200/7800 emulators. I observed that there was a green row that was almost useless, similar to the other greens so i removed it. About the yellows, I like most the default yellow and orange in the default palette, rather than the TIA Default thats why I keep it, same with oranges; the next row, reds, became into a "salmon red" but still looks fine where the red was before. Purple was changed to red, thats where I started to swap the current color row with the next, until I reached the greens. Overall, It's almost the same palette but with slight changes based in the eye-likeness more than the acurracy of the system DEFAULT NABUKO PALETTE 00 Grays 00 Grays** 01 Yellows 01 Yellows* 02 Oranges 02 Oranges* 03 Reds 03 Salmon Reds 04 Magentas 04 Reds* 05 Magentas 00 Magentas 06 Blues & Purples 06 Purples (Not magentas) 07 Blues 07 Blues* 08 Purple-Blues 08 Purple Blues 09 Blue & Cyan 09 Light Blues 0a Greens 0a Cyans 0b Greens 0b Greens 0c Lime Greens 0c Greens* 0d Yellow-Greens 0d Yellow-Greens* 0e Ochre Yellows 0e Ochre Yellows* 0f Browns 0f Browns* *Colors that weren't changed but were slightly optimized ** Gray shades were changed

HI everyone! Finally I made it: I finished my color palette for use in 5200 / 7800 emulators, like MESS (soon available in version 0.111), ProSystem for 7800 and Kat5200 for 5200. Perhaps in the future can be used in the next release of Stella (I don't know when it will be launched). Here we go! I officialy call this palette "Nabuko Palette" .PAL Format .XML Format I will be adding here a few more palette for other systems, like Colecovision, Nintendo, and maybe Intellivision. But that will be later. THANKS FOR ALL PEOPLE AROUND ATARIAGE.COM FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Hi there, I just want to submit here a color palette that originally made for the atari 7800 emulators, MESS and ProSystem, and I found that its exactly the same for 5200 emulators, it can be found in MESS and KAT5200, but this time I made it in XML format for use only in KAT5200. It doesn't match accurately with the 7800 but it really looks good with this emulator. Post here your comments about this palette, please. 7800_color.xml

I just bought yesterday my xbox 360 but i don't about emulators that works with it, who can tell me where to find it?

thx for the fix, mitch

The only way to get that palette working on MESS is by... hacking it! Didn't mentioned that? also I hacked today colors for colecovision and arcadia 2001 in MESS and worked as well as 5200 / 7800. Emerson Arcadia 2001 "Gobbler"; and "Congo Bongo" in Colecovision Two examples for 7800: Xenophobe and Scrapyard Dog. Now with true colors! And for the 5200 too! Jungle Hunt and Donkey Kong. Doesn't look that cool? Sorry for the quote, Trebor. Sigh, my bad

Hi everyone. I wish to share with all of you atari 7800 fans my unique color palette that fixes the purple used for skin color into red, and some other colors. I don't think this going to be the last palette you will need, you might want to change the other colors with any hex editor... well, say no more. Here it is: Atari_Palette.zip Hint: this color palette also can be used for any atari 5200 emulator, since the original 7800 and 5200 have exactly the same 256 colors palette (NTSC), and also can be found in Stella 2.2 as "original stella color" setting. Note: If you are reading this for the first time, you might want to read the previous posts about how to change color palettes inside emulators. PS: I couldn't find where are the palettes stored in Stella emulator yet, anyone can help me?
-
There is. I just changed 2 of the 256 colors, I'm a bit shy for the moment, I would be changing the whole palette right now but I'm busy with other things. 7800 ntsc palette starts at address 8D84ED in messlib.dll corresponding to Mess ver 0.109 HAVE FUN! =D BTW I need help with using a proper key wrapper for ProSystem, so it can be able to exit emulator with only pressing Esc (or other key) instead ALT+F4 remember I'm applying it with MAMEWAH frontend.. try it! Oh and other question How do I remove the fullscreen antialiasing filter in this emulator? It's generated when resolution is changed to 640x480x32BPP? (default is 640x480x8BPP) P.S. Thanks to Eric Ball, Trebor and SeaGtGruff for your help and comments.

I got my atari 7800 in a Ms. Pac-Man contest, I didn't had to buy it I just had to play it durning 1 minute along with other kids. Yeah I was a 9 year old kid at the time of the contest, April 1989, when I won it!!! I had to say I was last player in the whole contest, my ms. pac-man score in 1 minute was... 7800! no joke. I was so happy that day. Prizes for 2nd place and 3rd were Atari 2600 Jr. and 2nd had also a Food Fight cart included. I wonder if that kid bought his 7800 or tried to put that cart in his 2600 :/

UPDATE: It's possible that every color palette for all the systems in M.E.S.S. are located in Messlib.dll file, I won't touch it unless you can tell me if it´safe to hack/alter such file. i.e. found a similar hex string of default palette in ProSystem within messlib.dll Ahhhh more homework for all of you
-
Thanks Trebor, but I think I've found other way out to this: Last night I was frustrated and bored of configuring and doing this whole "mess" thing, so I shut down my computer early night, and after that I though "If I cannot change configuration in ProSystem... why not I better change default palette in the core of ProSystem?". So this morning first thing I did was to open ProSystem.exe in a Hex Editor (XVI32) and tried to locate any similar pattern of the .pal (I started with FF FF FF or WHITE) that you made. And I found it! Here's the result: I wanted to make sure this is the default pattern, at the first time I put random hex values, later I restarted edit by putting text strings instead with a secret message. Saved as a copy of the original executable, I opened "color selector demo.a78" rom in both, original and hack .exe as you can see in pictures below. Left: Unaltered ProSystem color palette NTSC Right: Hacked ProSystem color palette (values correspond to the text string used with XVI32) Now I think you are capable of customize your own color palette in the ProSystem by hacking it. ENJOY. BTW I'm not gonna hack it for now, Trebor, you might want to try it by your own and then upload the exe for everyone in the 7800 forum. Thank you for all your help.

Ok now i have a new trouble with this palette thing: after i assigned to ProSystem to load the palette (New_stella_NTSC.pal), when I close and reopen the emu the palette is not loaded, so it returns to the default one. Trebor, can you tell me what I did wrong here? I´ll put as attachment my configuration file and the log generated by ProSystem. Hope that can help. Thanks ProSystem_files.zip btw i renamed palette as "Stella NTSC.pal"
-
Minutes later... i found that color depth was the problem, it was set as default 8bpp, which caused that lag in the fullscreen mode. I changed it to 32bpp in the config file prosystem.ini ^_^
-
Now that you mention about the ProSystem emulator, I would be using it wit MameWah frontend instead MESS, but it has a weakness: fullscreen mode is slow =( why this happens? Window mode is OK, I'm using the same resolution for both window and fullscreen, 640x480. Any way to solve this?

GEE THANKS!!! That really helps me!

Hi, a question for the 7800 fans that emulate this system in M.E.S.S. I'm trying to match atari 7800 original TV colors in this emulator, so it looks like the real thing, althoug there's no way to emulate phosphoresence like in 2600 (BIOS looks completely different in the console) it's not glossy but still nice when emulated with TV-Out. Is possible to change colors or the full 7800 color palette in M.E.S.S.? Or to adjust colors and its settings for this and other systems?

LOL CV = ColecoVision = CastleVania
-
So MSX1 = CV? If its that way: 1. Why not to port those Activision MSX1 games (Released by Pony Canyon, I'm not sure) that aren't in the Activision CV list? 2. Port Vampire Killer A.K.A. Akumajou Drakula or.. Castlevania (But I think it's MSX2).

Hi. I was looking for the original version of the Arcade Pong done by vdub_bobby but I can't find it. It seems that I had other version in which the ball bounce in the walls, but I lost it and when I thought I found it again it was the same game but ball isn't bouncing in the walls, in fact the ball is absorbed by them! no wall collision. Do you have it? Please I need it! Btw I like your Pong redo, I will put them together in my homebrew games folder. Promise.

Right. But you must know that translating in other languages isn't always accurate, too many reasons maybe. Now thanks to you for the feedback I.E. in this episode the game was called "cortacabezas" ("head choppers") not "headkicker". Will you do any further update to this game?
-
This is COOL! I watched that episode of The Brak Show where Zorak says: "I was playing; you were pathetically losing" or sorta (hehe quick translation from spanish) Nice WIP!
-
I've never know about the existance of the stella biglist, as I said it was a lucky found in a torrent file, I'm not sure if there are other homebrews or WIP not mentioned in these forums, you can find it HERE: http://www.torrentz.com/torrent_500157.html
