...it is my favorite Tigervision game and looks and plays better than the A8 version on my XEGS...

I haven't played the VCS version of Threshold in years, but I remember it being an altered version of the original game with more colorful graphics and greater freedom of movement for the player ship but missing the laser temp gauge and having screwy collision detection.

I dont see anything that looks like she purchased it for $200.  It looks like it sold,  A message informing the seler that She would pay $1000 was sent,  The seller re-negs on the sale and sells to her for 1K.

Apparently, that individual was trying to negotiate a side deal with the seller but was unable to do so and someone else ended up purchasing it the second time.  I'll let the actual buyer step forward on his own if he chooses.  But either way, a certain person in a dress did not end up with the item.

We thought it was a mistake until he actually said "Welcome to Denny" directly to us. Kind of became an inside joke for us "you guys wanna go hit Denny for lunch?" Etc...

My friends and I had a similar situation with a particular Aramark vendor who used to hawk in the stands at Shea Stadium/Citi Field and Yankee Stadium.  This guy would say everything in a backwards or somewhat screwed up fashion.  If he was selling Cracker Jacks, he would call them "Jack Cracker".  Or if he was selling Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars, he'd go around yelling "how 'bout that Doc Häagen?".  We thought it was hilarious and still make jokes about it.  I don't go to ball games like I used to, so I sometimes wonder if that guy is still there doing his thing.

And hey, what about Super Crush? That's another I was looking forward to (supposedly a car combat game; I'm so pre-Twisted-Metal).

Not much is known about this game.  Like the planned 2600 port, the original arcade version was apparently not distributed (at least not in the form of a wide release).  At least one Japanese conversion kit is known to exist in a private collection, but as far as I know the game itself is unarchived and not available on MAME.

Watch for broken prongs (the ones that push open the 2600's dust flap) on these carts.  I've had several Tigervision carts, especially the red ones, with busted prongs.  Don't know if that's due to weak plastic or poor alignment, but it is an issue.

Part of the problem is that the prongs weren't really meant to stick out like that.  The first batch of Tigervision games have a spring-loaded dust cover just like first-party Atari VCS cartridges.  Apparently Tiger got cheap fairly early on and didn't want to pay for the springs, so they just inverted that piece and placed in a fixed position on most carts.  I think only King Kong, Jawbreaker, and Theeshold exist with that piece in the proper orientation.

    Could also be NTSC.

Red King Kongs, orange Marauders and blue Jawbreakers also exist.

And Tigervision proto's are brown in same cases.

There have been some oddballs found that seem to have escaped from the factory, but I would tend to believe that white King Kongs that pop up are most likely PAL since Carrere Video used that style of case in significant quantities in Europe for their versions of the U.S. Games titles.

With regard to prototypes, they've been found in various colors.

The game is rarer loose. I think it's because somebody found a few cases of NEW ones about 20 years back and sold them to collectors for $40 each.

Correct...a lot of the ones you see floating around nowadays came from that same source.

In the US apparently, elsewhere it use the Megadrive1/SMS form factor.  So be careful when dealing with potentially imported GG.

The power jacks are different by design though, so plugging in the wrong one isn't possible under normal circumstances.  Sega knew that people were idiots and might fry their console.

  7. I've been taking apart the Vectrex systems I own and have found that the two Hong Kong units (Serial Nos. 0092244 & 0146125) are both held together by a set of five black anodized sheet metal screws with flat tips, like the ones recommended for replacement in the Amazon link above in post #5.  The bottom center screw is of course much longer than the others.

In my Taiwan unit (Serial No. 128157A), the top two screws are the same as above but the bottom three screws including the longer one are different, slightly longer screws with wider threads and self-cutting tips.  These being different makes me think they are possible replacements but this particular unit saw very little use, so this is a bit hard to imagine.  Can I assume there was some variance in the original screws that were used in the system itself?

I've attached a photo below for reference.

  8. I spoke to Don Ruffcorn years ago but I didn't realize he had been involved with the Channel F at the time.  In hindsight, it makes sense.  After Rick Maurer left Atari, he and Ruffcorn started a company called Is'Action which supposedly developed games for 20th Century Fox and others.  I suspect the games that Ruffcorn did for Telesys were actually developed by this company.

  9. So much for "affordable".  I see you sold one at a fixed price for $18 but the one up for auction is at $67 with nearly four days left?  Is there something super special about this version of this Test Cart that I don't know about, or is this just being run up by silly people that have no real idea what they're bidding on?

For $80 you could buy Sean Kelly's Multi-Cart and have the Test Cart program, along with most of the rest of the Vectrex library.  Am I missing something here?

It's always the way for me, a rare 'untested' cartridge from ebay == doesn't work and never did and the seller knows this but is telling lies ;)

Cartridges are usually pretty resilient apart from certain games by specific manufacturers that are known to have problems, such as Gold Mine by Spectravideo.  I've never owned that one but I do have a copy of Cave In for the VIC-20 which I purchased new in box that's totally dead.
