  1. I really like all your backgrounds. Nice addition. :-)
  2. Sounds pretty interesting. After your Pitkat game, I look forward to what you have in store. Thank you for your continued work and contributions.
  3. I finally bit on the X Deluxe. Got one online from Sam's Club at $39. It arrived yesterday, but so far I'm very disappointed. The performance is much worse than my 9 Gold. I'm wondering if it's just this firmware, or if it's like this on all Xs. My firmware is v0.1.7. After playing around with the X for a while, I tried my 9 Gold again just to make sure it wasn't just my memory playing tricks on me. And yep, the 9 Gold definitely plays MUCH better than my X. I'm looking forward to what comes out of the custom firmware for it, because I really have no reason to keep this one as-is. - Wired controllers vs the awesome wireless ones of the 9 Gold... - Bad lag of the X Deluxe and dropped frames in emulation vs the responsiveness and smooth emulation of the 9 Gold... I can hardly wait to flash this X unit.
  4. Congratulations. The 9 Gold is a good choice. I just got the X yesterday and was very disappointed with its performance. The 9 played so much better and I love the wireless joysticks. The one thing the X has over the 9 is out-of-the-box paddle compatibility, but the emulation on the X was so much slower, I'd rather play paddle games on my resistor modded 9 anyway. As for SD card size, officially, the limit is stated at 16GB from what I can remember, but I've had no problem with larger sizes as longs as they are formatted FAT32. Of course, what you'll actually use of the space is almost nothing, since 2600 ROM sizes are so small. So, unless all you have laying around are larger SDs, the smaller ones will be fine. If you go for the custom firmware to read system files off the SD card, you might want to make sure the SD speed capability isn't too slow.
  5. I still begrudge sony because of Dreamcast days, and Lik Sang, and Bleemcast, and other dirty practices they engaged in to squash others. Playstation 1 and 2 are the only two systems I enjoy NOT collecting legit games for. I was given a PS1 and a PS One, and bought another PS1 for $1 that I modded. Picked up a modded PS2 for dirt cheap a few years ago. Haven't touched a PS3 or 4.
  6. It's a very fun version of Double Dragon, imo... especially with a few graphic tweaks. I like it better than other home console ports.
  7. I used to enjoy it, but only with manual transmission. I noticed the rubber banding AI pretty early on, and used that to keep a reasonable speed in 3rd and 4th gears to keep control of my car while still winning the race. Played all the way through once... only took the time to do it once though. I still like the graphics and would like to play it again soon. I haven't spent quality time with my Jag in a long time. That's another one I always loved and had a lot of fun with, especially in 2-player mode. I also enjoyed exploring and going places you aren't really supposed to by abusing the gas and stabilize button.
  8. I'd like to make a couple of points: 1) I've been very interested in this game from the beginning and enjoyed the past demos, but Kickstarter is a non-starter for me. I'm still waiting on some Kickstarter projects I've backed as many as 8 years ago and moved 4 times since. I still receive email updates on a couple, but others are just lost $$. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this. I'd highly recommend another way of going about it. You can publish through existing reputable channels that would give your buyers more confidence. Your Kickstarter page sounds like you still need to design and manufacture PCBs, although I'd assume you'll end up sourcing them through someone here. Why leave it in question? That seems like something that should have been arranged prior to the Kickstarter so you'd have a known cost for the PCBs to factor into the price. 2) I'd really like to see a video of more than just "up to the breadcat". I'm familiar with the game up to that point as well as the haunted forest after. I'd like to see some of each level that's been added to the finished game. In other words, I'd much rather see things I haven't already seen. Again, I've really liked this game from the start and I wish you the best, but it seems like your hard work over the years may be limited to a much smaller audience than it deserves by going about it this way. I'd like to support you, but not in this way I regret to say.
  9. Hmm, still on the fence this year. I'm really hoping it'll reach 200. I have almost all the Collectorvision releases, so the ROM files aren't a big draw for me... and it's hard to justify spending $150 for a single special release. Being closer to two special releases is the key for me to jump in. Maybe you need an infomercial.
  10. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy... LynXmas presents! Love you guys!
  11. I agree that he is an amazing pixel artist, but I love the colors of level 4 -- especially the color of the sky against the rest of the environment. It's my favorite level preview so far. Shaping up to be an iconic level for the game and Lynx. :-)
  12. Mouth watering... Wait, is that an appropriate response?
  13. Glad to see you at work on another solid port, Bob. Thank you for all you do for the community. It cannot be overstated.
  14. @Cousin Vinnie You need to make a video game tie-in... for the 7800.
  15. I dig some of these low budget movies. I’ve picked up a ton of them from the Dollar Tree during COVID restrictions. This looks a lot like many of them, (but hopefully better than some of them). There have been some real winners in those stacks of DVDs, but also some stinkers. ?
  16. You can just take the PAL rom and apply the same sprite hacks you did to the NTSC one.
  17. I hope no one is discouraged. I have not voted yet, as I've been waiting until I feel I can give all the games more playtime. I misplaced my Lynx SD cart and haven't wanted to take the time to re-set up my Agacart, so I've not given equal time to each (I put a few on carts and just re-flashed with different entries so far... except this one because I didn't want to lose my achievements progress). Today, my BenVenn carts arrived, so I look forward to playing them more easily. Maybe there are more out there like me who are just waiting to spend more time with them, or maybe many just don't like to vote. Again, I hope no one is discouraged. I'm sure there are many, many players who like to play, but just don't make the effort to vote. We'll see when the deadline gets closer. And, people might need some continued reminding as that time approaches. Seconded on more SillySis!... and to the 2nd part, surely not, good sir! Lot's of love for SillySis around these parts. I played through all the levels on the first day it was released, if I remember correctly. It's a very cool game. Agreed. That one is hilarious as-is in my opinion. I might just be really dense... or just bad at doing the thing that leads to this achievement.
  18. It does happen a LOT. I've played 7 games in a row where each mine that appeared was either before or after a pirate. There were games before and after this where the pirate+mine combo was only broken up by another mine, totalling probably 10 unwinnable games in a row. This might seem a bit extreme, but it ultimately all comes down to odds. I guess you could say the odds of getting n number of games (let's say 20 for an extreme number) in a row that are unwinnable is x%. But that could mean that some number of games down the road you could also get n number of wins in a row. In the meantime, it hasn't been very friendly to me, but overall, I'm averaging around 40% win rate on Basic mode. Well, this was before I started quitting unwinnable games. I was never able to get 5 games in a row to unlock the winning streak achievement until I realized that quitting a game doesn't count against your streak. Someone else could play and win their first 5 games. That just isn't how the odds worked out for me. It took me many, many... many games to get over 100 points, yet after I did, I was able to do it again the very next game for 2 in a row scoring 101 pts. Then my next five games were unwinnable again. I've probably played around 300 games so far. My official count is well over 200, but I have no idea how many I've quit (which doesn't count in your tally of total games). I had suggested modifying the rules to prevent the unfair combos or at least limit their frequency... but the quit feature kind of takes care of that frustration factor in a way. It still stinks when it happens, but at least I can save a little time by quitting and starting a new game.
  19. Right now, I think the Piko cart is my favorite.
  20. I emailed them yesterday and got this reply today: "Yes please keep looking on our website as we will be getting more stock throughout September!" So, I'm very happy to hear that. I've been wanting to buy one, it just wasn't good timing in August.
  21. The more I look at it, the more I agree. Just wanted to throw my hat in there if anyone cares for opinion counts.
  22. I liked the beta11 one a lot, but this one looks nice as well. I miss the platform he was standing on before though. As for the jump, between the test and classic, I definitely prefer classic, but still think it deserves to be tweaked some more to feel more natural. Anyway, awesome work so far. I love this and can't wait to buy it when finished.
  23. I really like the one by Jérôme Domurat, although it still has transparency and is not arcade accurate. I redrew it pixel by pixel so it would have no artifacting. I don't know if it would ever be of use for anything since the size doesn't match the in-game A-8 or 7800 versions, but here it is anyway. I'm also attaching a slight modification of the 7800 version. I threw it into my old 7800 Xevious hack, but haven't uploaded that rom yet. @TIX your new one is looking really nice.
  24. I don't know about everyone, but I have a close friend with Autism and I can assure you he does not consider it a "gift" and would love to be "cured". And yes, many parents of these children at varying ranges on the spectrum have a lot of difficulties and need support as well. I would not want to fault parents for seeking treatment for their children either, or for seeking assistance or learning for themselves. If someone is happy with their situation, that is fine, but I would not want to smear an organization that seeks to help those who would like help and spread understanding of the issue. There are some therapies that have shown very good results for people. My wife and I have looked into Neuro Feedback and have even been considering starting a clinic. edit: I really look forward to that and wish you all the best!
