  1. Dude, you bring this up *every* year about how we must be totally wrong about the space. I don't know what else to tell you. The fire marshall, who I happily met with and walked around with, voiced *no* major concerns at all. They were curious about how we did some things, and complimented us multiple times on how the show was being run. They are not the only local government that we work with, for the record, and this isn't our first time working with them. Please don't start stupid rumors about things that you don't know about. If you don't like the show, we're not forcing you to go. If it was too busy for you, by all means, you don't need to go. We have been well aware of the situation for years, we have been following up with the situation in multiple ways for years now, but there isn't yet a good solution for it. You probably didn't stop to listen to me talking with Fox 6 news about *that very issue* at the show on Saturday. I know that you think we have never noticed the issue. I think you'll be very interested in the Fox 6 report that is slated to come out in a few weeks about just how much we have noticed the issue, and depending on what they air, exactly how much time and effort we have spent trying to correct it. Sorry to sound a little mean here, but I have no idea why you cannot believe us that the Sheraton is more than double the size of the space that the Olympia made usable to us and find the need to spread false rumors like this that can hurt us every year.
  2. They went up on the GOAT Store site last night, so we've got them back in stock! Limited quantities, but far better than $300+.
  3. My son, who was 2, came last year and *loved* it. I barely got to see him, but when I did he was in seventh heaven.
  4. If you're looking for this, we'll be adding stock of it this coming Thursday. I have to figure out pricing, but it is right in line with the $130ish that we charged last time. We'll also be restocking the other Telegames titles, in case you're looking.
  5. This reminds me that I've got another one to sell sometime...
  6. It's both not out of print and sells for about $130 new right now. I got a bunch more of them in stock a few months ago, looks like it might be time to add some more to our stock again. When I was last selling them new at $130 though, they were still selling for $200+ on eBay. People are just silly sometimes.
  7. Would I like to attend? Well, yeah. Is there any way I can at this point in my life? Unfortunately, no. Stand alone Jagfests were great, and as someone who both attended one (99) and organized one (01), the thing that was great was getting together with Jaguar fans to actually discuss and play the console that we really liked. If you'd like to borrow the official Jagfest banner, I own it now because the MGC is the place where even though it isn't a huge event focused around it, the event still takes place there every year. It also takes place at some other shows in similarly limited capacity (VGS comes to mind). Point is that I have the banner, and would be happy to loan it out
  8. Honestly, the other option that we have is to not have it. I know you weren't able to make it this year, but thanks to how busy the show has gotten, it is like half of the show is in similar locations to this. Vendors were in hallways everywhere, there were arcade games in hallways everywhere... and it was so crazy that we are getting some hotel rooms to try to fit SOME stuff into for next year already. Jagfest is awesome and the reason the event exists, but it isn't quite enough to fill up a big room with, so we have to use the space that we currently have. The answer is we need a bigger space, but that is way easier said than done, unless someone has a spare $50k+ sitting around to help us move. It's not like the MGC makes much money still
  9. This is correct. Long story short, we did the pre-order for them to see how many we would produce, if any. There was enough interest to produce 100 (just barely), so started the gears turning. One chip, that was listed as "in stock" from the place we were ordering from actually was not in stock, and it was unknown if they would ever be remade. After a lot of trouble and legwork, we finally got them... But we ended up with dual orders and 200 chips. In the meantime, we had sold out of the initial run and we had people asking for more. Just after the Rev 3 was shipped, we put into production the Ghost boards. There is no production difference between the two of them other than the Ghost boards have a white PCB and the standard ones don't. All the components and functionality is the same. We had the option to make them a white PCB in the final run and named them "Ghosts", so we did because, "they weren't actually supposed to exist." They were ONLY produced due to the screwed up order.
  10. That is why I posted this - just in case! Check your SPAM settings and see if there is an email in there. Then, whitelist these if you haven't already: GOAT Store Publishing - goat-publishing isat goatstorepublishing point com GOAT Store - listserv isat goatstore point com Replace certain words with the right symbols. Don't email those though, they'll bounce and are only for communication out. If all still seems well, email or PM me and we'll see what we can do.
  11. Yesterday, I sent out emails to our mailing lists both on the GOAT Store site and the GOAT Store Publishing site. If you signed up for either of these mailing lists, please check to make sure that you got these emails. They were actually both dealing with some Dreamcast development stuff that we are doing, and nothing Jaguar related, but we have had a lot of people sign up on these mailing lists so they could be informed immediately upon the release of the final Skunkboards on our site, and other Jaguar news. With any luck, we may have the final Skunkboard release and/or other Jaguar news in the not-too-distant future. If you haven't signed up and are hoping to be notified of these as soon as we release them, please do so now. I will not be posting on any web site other than the GOAT Store and GOAT Store Publishing for at least 24 hours after the release about the Skunkboards whenever we put the final batch on sale. And we will have "other Jaguar news" about something or multiple somethings in the not-too-distant future too, so even if you don't care about the Skunkboard, you may want to sign up!
  12. The Lynx is a weird console like that - a good number of the games have always been really hard to find (Super Asteroids / Missile Command comes to mind) while others seem to have been printed in insanely massive quantities. I think that the commonality of a lot of the games have held down the prices on a lot of the rare ones... you just have to really watch for them. Supplies are drying up somewhat, but honestly the Lynx just doesn't sell that quickly where I'd expect it to be any time soon many more go on that list.
  13. Throwing in a few cents here... Gunstar, this is a totally different sort of item than a game. Unlike that, you have to buy chips, a motherboard to stick them on, and have some sort of professional assembly of that board. I couldn't easily bolt together a Skunkboard. I, and many others, can make a single Jaguar cartridge at a time, and because the motherboards have already been made in massive quantities and the chips are easy to get, it's far easier to replace them and move on than it is to do so with a custom project. If I could have made these in batches of 10 at a time, I'd still be making them today (well, with Tursi and Kskunk's approval, of course). But for what type of product that this is, that simply isn't possible. For any cart like this to work like that, it would take some additional pre-planning. Not that it couldn't be done - just that it isn't as easy as saying, "Let's make more!" and more show up. That is exactly right. The entire Rev 3 run wouldn't have been made if it wasn't for the fact that it is a development cartridge first, and that's all that I care to support. If someone wants to make a warez cart or whatever, go for it! I just won't personally support that. As for if there is a market, there are more than 250 Skunkboards out there, and if there is enough of a market for something like this I think all comes down to price. Skunkboards are *not* cheap to make, and even if the parts didn't go obsolete, considering how long it took for our last batch to sell out I don't think that there would be a market to make another 100 and even break even. If the new product is different, maybe there would be a different result. But I find it funny how many people have written us to ask about when we are getting it back in stock when it took us well over a year to sell out the last batch. There was ample time to get one... Again, if the new product has new features, it might be totally different... and it might flood the market with Skunkboards. We are planning on releasing the final ones soon, by the way - I still have a few handfuls... MAILING LIST if you want one.
  14. I'm at least temporarily out of the 1MB version - actually, all versions of Cybermorph - but I hope to get some more in stock in the not too distant future. Somewhere, I used to have a FAQ I made about Jaguar label variations, and I'm surprised I never replied to this topic. I believe that there are three labels, as noted, but there is also the "black plastic" 2MB cart, and the regular cart color ones. A few of the Jaguar's first run of games were put into black carts. Cybermorph, Raiden and Trevor McFur are thre three that I remember that can come in this "shade" of plastic.
  15. Bumping this back up -- We're starting to have stuff with the MGC move now, so anyone wanting to help out would be greatly appreciated! I am still looking for the Once Upon Atari DVDs by the way, hoping to find them later this week.
  16. In a slightly different direction than what others have said, but not by much... You need to go into the Jaguar knowing that it represents a very unique time in gaming history - it's more or less made for 2D power, but then pushed to do 3D stuff instead. A lot of the games in that context are surprisingly fun, but a lot of early 3D stuff I think shows it's age poorly. For instance, I think that for it's time, Cybermorph was actually a wonderful time, and if you can imagine playing it with basically no other 3D go-anywhere titles out there, you'll see that it really was a huge achievement in gaming... but, if you can't look at it in context, Battlemorph which came out for the Jag CD like two years later is an infinitely better and more playable take on the same concept, and we've seen thousands more like it since then, each improving on the concept. Because of that, a lot of the Jaguar library I find to be fascinating trips into a time when 3D game design was much simpler by necessity. There are also a number of 2D titles that are really exceptional for the console, although for the most part they were either done on other consoles (NBA Jam, Rayman) or weren't popular enough for people to really notice them much (Power Drive Rally, Ultra Vortek, Super Burnout, Zool 2). The game that really makes it all worth it is Tempest 2000 though. In my opinion, it is simply the best game ever made, and although it was ported to other consoles, none of them come close to matching the genius that the Jaguar version was and is. It is by far the number one reason I own the console.
  17. Bumping this up a bit, all of the Pinball 101 DVDs have been spoken for.
  18. Another option is the ChaosReins rotary at the GOAT Store. We've been carrying them for years now, and they are my personal favorite of the bunch. As for T2K, it's passable with the controller, but if you can it becomes even better with a rotary. T2K is my favorite game (and best reason to own a Jaguar, in my opinion) and a rotary truly completes the experience.
  19. Oh, good point actually -- the Tetris shirts *do* go up to 3XL, but I might have to ask for a couple extra bucks for those. Those were really expensive to make (they turned out GREAT though) and I think with the prices above, I'm guaranteed to lose otherwise... Thanks for the interest
  20. Long story short -- I usually do a DVD sale to help us cover our bills. This year, we need to do some show infrastructure improvements (more Doc Ock power!!), and we've already spent all the proceeds from this year's show! These are all US prices including shipping. Email me if you're international for a quote. This is a 'while supplies last' sale, or until I decide to cut it off. Most of these prices are near wholesale prices, and if you pick 6 or more, some of them will be BELOW wholesale prices... Pick 1 - $16 per item Pick 2 - $14 / item ($28) Pick 3 - $13 / item ($39) Pick 4 - $12 / item ($48) Pick 5 - $11 / item ($55) Pick 6+ - $10 / item Here are the items with short descriptions if necessary: - Tilt: The Battle to Save Pinball double DVD set - Pinball 101 (VERY few left!) - The Pinball Collector (few left) - Star Worlds: Pocket Full of Tokens and I'm Heading to the Arcade Documentary DVD (it's a short film, about 30 minutes, but REALLY well done about this great arcade in DeKalb, IL and even features some footage from the MGC! Oddly, the video quality seems low res, although that may be because I was playing it through my super huge TV. I was surprised by how much I loved it though.) - Once Upon Atari (four 30ish minute documentaries about what it was like to work at Atari during the day. Note - if you get this it may delay your order slightly, as I need to figure out where they went still...) - MGC "Tetris" ringer shirt (these are white with either blue or black rings) - MGC "2600" shirt (Has Midwest Gaming Classic on the front in 2600 cart logo, back looks like a cart with controllers and stuff on it) - MGC "Pinball" shirt (Has Midwest Gaming Classic on front with pop bumpers and flippers, pin layout on the back with "It's more fun to compete at the MGC" on it.) If you're interested, you may add this to your order too: Nintendo DS import - Crystal Mines. Long story short, a few years ago I made some levels for an Atari Lynx game called Crystal Mines II. I found out at this year's MGC that a company from Australia had licensed the Lynx game, updated it and put it out on the Nintendo DS. I LOVE the game, and picked up just a few to stock in my online store (the GOAT Store). It's really hard to get a hold of, and I love it -- I played through the copy I bought myself, and I would guess it was at least 25 hours of great puzzler gameplay! If you'd like to add one of these, I can do it for $40 shipped (usually $40 before shipping). It's VERY hard to get this! For any shirts, please indicate sizing. Because I have some of this stuff both here and in storage, it may take me a little while to complete all orders. (I'll try to get pics of the shirts sooner than later.) Also, anyone who orders, I will include both a free copy of the Dreamcast game Feet of Fury that we produced and was released at our 2003 show, as well as a free Twin Galaxies Midwest Gaming Classic trading card while supplies last! PayPal is easiest, although I'd love to get checks or money orders too, and can set up credit card if anyone needs it. Please either PM me or email me if you would like to order anything, and we can set it up! I and the future of the MGC thanks you!
  21. Hunh. I just recently picked up the arcade board. I've always liked the game, the Lynx version is very good, but I just don't know if the gameplay will hold up with a modern audience at all. You pretty much have to accept the fact you need to memorize it all to get anywhere... I was just thinking the other day that if I didn't look at the arcade game with such rose colored glasses, I would think it was complete crap. I'm floored that anyone decided to remake this. Hope it does well though, I'll buy it if given the chance!
  22. The Dreamcast is the system that made us figure out where the "Classic" cut off was for the Midwest Gaming Classic. In 2002, my cousin told me that Sonic Adventure was his favorite "classic" game. He was like 8 at the time, so it made sense. I've basically believed that ever since then. Classic games are the games we have great memories of, not necessarily those that fit into some particular era or something like that. Retro games are a bit different -- retro refers to games that were made in a way or a style that isn't seen as much today... score chasing, arcade-like games to me are "retro" games, whether they are brand new arcade titles, cool score chase titles for the 360 / PS3, or whatever. In that case, to me, the majority of the games that came out on the Dreamcast that are fondly remembered today are not the type of games that are popular today. With just a glance at my collection, the real highlights / memories are games like Marvel Vs. Capcom, Crazy Taxi, Samba de Amigo, Mars Matrix, Rush 2049, Gauntlet Legends, Sega Rally, Sega Bass Fishing and so on. There are very few games like Shenmue or Sonic Adventure that are the more "modern" style of game design. So, based on that and that alone, I'd tend to say it is a more retro console. But, I own retro games that were just released on my Xbox 360 too. It's all perspective...
  23. As a different update, we'll be re-opening the GOAT Store for ordering HOPEFULLY tomorrow night. We've been a little behind, thanks to the MGC, but unless something goes horribly wrong, I'll be updating the inventory either tonight or tomorrow afternoon, and then we'll be up and running tomorrow night. We've got a decent number of working Skunkboards in stock, for now.
  24. Just a couple notes that I thought I shoult follow up on... No, we were definitely busier. We're just getting better at spreading things out and bringing in even more content! Nope, it was cut last year. They cost us a TON of money, and in 2010 after we spent more than $750 putting them together as well as about 20 man-hours to pack them (by far the hours being the worst thing), not including how long it took to beg people for stuff, and everyone complained about what they got in them, so we cut it. Honestly, that was an easy move for us to make. If anyone wants to sponsor them in the future (and pay for them to get made), we'd entertain doing it again, but we really don't make enough money to give away 1500 bags that people think suck or just throw away for the most part. We used them last year too, but between the blue signange being everywhere -- you really couldn't stand in many places and not see it -- and the overabundance of arcade machines everywhere, we opted to save the money and not stick 'em down this year. We'll think about bringing them back next year, promise.
  25. The MGC is looking for a few good men! (Or women!) We are looking to solidify help in two major areas at the show this year. If you love the show and have the time, we'd love to have you help with the show! And, you wouldn't miss a minute of the show itself! Here's what we need help with: Wednesday Night @ 6:30pm - We need to pack up our truck full of show stuff! We could use the hand of two or three additional people this night to help us load the truck at two locations, travel to the hotel and unload the truck there. Generally, this takes about three hours. Sunday Night @ 5pm - Guess what? We load the truck up of everything from the show, take it back to our two locations where we store stuff, and put it all away (or at least sort of away). The last few years, we have had a skeleton crew for this and it has taken far longer than it should. We'd like to get an additional 6-8 people for this. If you can help with either of these things, please contact me ASAP through here via PM or email. I appreciate you considering it!
