  1. Just when you thought it was merely a rumor, the evidence proving it true finally shows itself: Gaming Alexandria's article: https://www.gamingalexandria.com/wp/2022/06/fairyland-nes/ Looks like Retro Core may have to do an update video on Battle of the Ports.
  2. Hi everyone. Browsing my local Craigslist I noticed a less than generous individual is selling what appears to be a prototype of Sabotuer, the originally unreleased 2600 game. I don't know the history of this game but is this of some significance to the community? Had this been found and dumped already? Here is their listing. If this isn't allowed on the forums my sincerest apologies. This is not my game and I am not the seller advertising it. On a side note, $5k is an insane asking price, yeah? https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/clt/d/hayward-ultra-rare-atari-prototype-game/7482181201.html
  3. SELLING ENTIRE COLLECTION FROM 1980's. I worked as a sales rep for Activision in the early 1980's and have a LOT of prototypes (14 total - 8 for 2600, 2 for 5200, 4 for Intellivision), used games in boxes (40+ and mostly Actiivision titles), a 2600 and a 400 game console and even typed original drafts of instructions for 5 games. I want to sell it ALL IN ONE LOT. According to these blogs the protos should be worth about $80 each, no idea of the value of the instruction manuals, and we all know the value of the other games and consoles (not much...). I also have two unopened, sealed ROBOT TANK by Activision for the 2600. Check out the pics. I live in San Diego and YOU will pay shipping. First $600 (plus shipping) can have it ALL, right now! Or make your best offer. and highest bidder just may get this Collection. I had trouble uploading the pics from Google so here's a link top the pics - just copy and paste... (Sorry, I am a salesman, not a tech!!!) LOL https://photos.app.goo.gl/WN5DyyNTrGApAnec7
  4. Now this is quite fascinating: https://duke4.net/duke-nukem-forever-2001-content-4chan-leak/ Judging from the footage and screenshots, this actually looks like fun and it's pitiful that George Broussard decided not to finish this. Hat tip goes to Spawn Wave for mentioning this. It's at the 8:04 mark.
  5. Hello friends, I just picked up these carts from an Estate of a Principal Engineer that worked for Mattel in 82-84. I was wondering if you can help me identify these cartridges. All these were in a Intellivision II lot with a console that had an incredible low serial number of 00661. Thank you in advance
  6. Just wanted to share this pickup with the Mattel Electronics Aquarius Community. I recently attended an Estate sale and i picked up this Gem - The Command Console that was never released for the Aquarius Computer. This was from a Mattel employee who worked as a Principal Engineer from 82-84 Didn't even know it existed.. so happy i was able to find it. Enjoy

  8. Is there a Vectrex ROM ripper/downloader? I have a Bedlam EEPROM prototype and would like to download the ROMs. Thanks
  9. An unreleased game that could and should have been more!
  10. As per the title, a complete beta of Toki has been found for the Atari 7800. This announcement is a bit overdue, as it was found several years ago by BuddyBuddies (another AA member) and I on the same test department hard drives as our Lynx discoveries. It appears to be PAL format and Information on the title screens indicate that it is "Toki Beta 2, Copyright 1993 Atari Corp" which would've made it an usually late release. Although I've been interested in the 7800 for a little while and have a decent collection of games, we're not very familiar with the 7800 scene so we're starting from scratch in regard to exploring the possibilties of releasing Toki. We are going to try to get the game to the right people and hope to have more information with regard to what can be done with this soon. For more information on Toki for the 7800, as well as the other titles we discovered on the test department hard drive, please visit our website HERE (where I've already gone through the trouble of organizing the information!). Other stuff we found on the hard drive include what appears to be some of the latest stuff Atari was working on for the 7800 and Lynx, including Klax (7800), Toki (7800), Hotdog (Lynx), Road Riot 4WD (Lynx), Poker (Lynx), Relief Pitcher (Lynx) as well as an as-of-yet unannounced title. Below are some screens. Here is the toki specific page of our site.
  11. Trying to find more information and photos about the line of telephones Atari was working on in the early 1980s. It's fascinating stuff, but Atari Museum has very little information. Does anyone know where the prototypes have gone (thinking the trash, but hoping otherwise)? Are there more, higher quality photos? Did the kiosk ever make it out of the Atari offices? Thanks all!
  12. Hello fellow Atarians, picked up this item on ebay back in 2011. I used to run a search for "atari prototype" and if anything looked interesting throw in a bid. Won this item sold by a seller in Maryland with a description of "Mock-Up for Happy Drive CPU", stored it away and found it in the closet the other day. Thought you might enjoy checking it out. Cheers!
  13. In today's episode I discuss the most controversial prototype ever: Thrill Kill. What are some other controversial games that you enjoy?
  14. Is there such a thing as a Prototype Label? I got this in a trade 18 years ago from the owner of Mean Hamster Software. At the time he said this was 1 of 2 with this label. But that's all I know, Can anyone fill in more history about this cartridge, label or game? Thank you Steve
  15. MAME 0.229 It’s been an eventful month, culminating in the release of MAME 0.229 today. One change that you’ll notice straight away is that the “64” suffix is no longer added to the file name for 64-bit versions of MAME. If you’re unsure, you can see the data model at the end of the window title. One very elusive Argentinian title has finally made it into MAME this month. We’ve very proud to present Ms PacMan Twin, an extensive hack of Ms. Pac-Man with simultaneous two-player cooperative gameplay. Another rarity you can now experience is Midway’s unreleased Power Up Baseball – the NBA Jam of baseball. On the topic of prototypes, Wayne Gretzky’s 3D Hockey Fatality Edition is now supported. Several TV games for preschool age children from JAKKS Pacific’s Sharp Cookie line have been dumped and emulated, featuring popular characters like Dora the Explorer, Scooby-Doo, Spider-Man and Thomas the Tank Engine. Travelling back a little, Mattel’s representations of Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, and Tag as electronic toys are now supported. Elektronika Autoslalom has arrived from Russia (with love). Another batch of JPM IMPACT fruit machines have been promoted to working this month, making use of new artwork engine features for their internal layouts. Updates to the Win32 and Qt debuggers add a context menu to debugger views with an option to copy visible text to the clipboard, improve behaviour when views are scrolled to the bottom, and fix a crash when right-clicking some memory views. We’re lucky enough to have received another shader update from cgwg, improving the appearance of the popular crt-geom and crt-geom-deluxe effects. We’ve added support for the NEC/Renesas V850 family to unidasm. That’s all we’ve got time for here, but there are lots of software list updates, newly dumped bootlegs, bug fixes, and other enhancements that you can read about in the whatsnew.txt file. As always, you can get the source and 64-bit Windows binary packages from the download page. Read the rest of this entry »
  16. I unearthed a Sonic 1 prototype which is being streamed on Twitch now with a special NYE countdown video at 00:00 GMT https://www.twitch.tv/hiddenpalace Enjoy
  17. That's right!! A great news for the whole ColecoVision community! CollectorVision found & preserved another unreleased game! This game has NEVER been dumped before and this is the only cartridge in existence! The game is not a prototype, it's the full game We're going to post more informations about this awesome find, soon!
  18. I am just sharing this from user Marcel Franquinet from the Lynx fan group on Facebook. Apparently, he was invited to RJ Mical's home, where RJ showed him some rare Lynx memorabilia. Rare as in "I have never seen it before". Beside what appears to be a dev system and a Lynx design document, RJ also showed two slightly different prototypes of the Lynx itself. They are very different looking from the final version. Enjoy! The two Lynx prototypes: A Lynx dev system it seems: An original Lynx 1 faceplate, possibly the original mock up: Lynx documentation... 19. I love to test my games on REAL hardware when needed I did made two socketed NES Prototype carts and I'm thinking of building my own prototype version of the Atari 2600 with Sockets as well I've checked OSHPark and I see Activision styled ones and I'm wondering if that can work for my homebrew games or not I'll list the boards I saw on the site Atari 2600 2K/4K Cartridge PCB - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/ke2psYkp Activision Atari 2600 2K/4K Cartridge - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/fqTcNFkn Atari 2600 8K/16K/32K Bankswitch Cartridge - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/Z612kCkR Activision Atari 2600 8K/16K/32K Bankswitch Cartridge - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/gmpugm1I Atari 2600 64K Bankswitch Cartridge PCB - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/wjP27Tpt Actvision's looks simple to use if I used it as my prototype carts so I don't know - I may not do 64KB so I'll debate on what my game needs
  20. Hi, I am looking to buy a potential prototype build of Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, or any pre release materials anyone might have. Does anyone know any info on where I could find a build of this game, or someone who has PS2 prototypes in general? Thank you!!!
  21. Well, this was a surprise. Found this bugger in a lot of 10 games for 20 bucks. You can still see where the proto label was before it fell off. Amusingly, the previous owner, "TIM", had a piece of scotch tape with his name written on the front (as many other games in the lot did) but it was easy enough to remove without damaging that shiny red label. 999% likely a review copy/final rom but still crazy to bump into. Figured I'd post here as well in case there's anything I'm missing about this that I should check for differences, and just to show that it exists!
  22. Several years ago, I asked around on this site about my Atari 5200. I bought it several years ago on eBay, assuming that it was the 2 port version. So when it come to my house, I opened up the shipping box to see an Atari 5200 two port box. However, when I opened the box, I was extremely disappointed because it was a four port. But when I looked for the 5200 power/input box, it wasn’t in either box. So in my confusion, I turned the system around, and to my amazement, it had a power input. Now I knew from extensive research that the four ports had no power input, but mine did. Well, after research, and years of no one else saying they have a 5200 like mine, I still have no clue what I have. Hopefully, someone can answer my question of what this 5200 is. Is it a prototype? Is it a one of a kind? I have no clue. Now I have never opened up my 5200, in fear that I will break it, so I have no pics of the inside. But I feel like by the serial number, someone could figure out something about my console.
  23. Canceled due to lack of interest. CV Paddle controller – Colecovision Paddle Controller Welcome to the auction. You will be bidding on the prototype Colecovision handheld paddle controller. This is the only one in existing. No other prototypes of this controller will be produced. This it prototype #1. This controller has been tested on both the original CV and the Phoenix. Additionally, this controller can work with Atari 2600 Joystick games. The FAQ referenced below shows a video of A2600 Kickman played with the paddle. It’s designed for games that are either horizontally or vertically oriented. I created this controller specifically for the CV version of Kaboom but works for other games. This controller requires one 9-volt battery to function. There are dip switches on the back to change the orientation, and also can reverse the direction; left becomes right, or up becomes down. This controller does not alter the game and can’t make an object on the screen move any faster than it would with a normal controller. This is controlled by the software itself. This controller was shown at PRGE the weekend of 10/18/2019. Those who tried it were very excited by it. The FAQ listed below has some links to videos showing it being used. The controller has been verified to be working at the time of this auction. Please take time to read this FAQ before bidding: This is a prototype; it could break, it could break your machine, etc. I don’t expect that it will, but I take no responsibility for damage to you, your machine, etc, etc… NEVER turn the paddle on or off with the system turned on. This is a good practice with any controller. There may be additional paddle controllers produced, but they will start with #001. They may also have a few modifications. They will not have prototype printed on them, etc. The winner of the auction will win the CV Paddle Controller and 1 y-adapter. See pictures below. Shipping and insurance will be additional. International buyers welcome, though you will need to work with me figuring out how to ship. I Haven’t done much international shipping. Bidding starts at $200. I will try to update the OP with the current high bid once a day. Bidding will continue till November 3rd, 2019 between 3 – 5 PM California time. I reserve the right to update this text if I realize that I have made a mistake. Thank you and happy bidding.
  24. Canceled due to lack of interest. Intellipaddle controller – Intellivision Paddle Controller Welcome to the auction. You will be bidding on the prototype Intellivision handheld paddle controller. This is the only one in existing. No other prototypes of this controller will be produced. This it prototype #1. This controller has been tested on an Intellivision II. Should also work on a sears Tele-Games or any other system with DB-9 connections. It’s designed for games that are either horizontally or vertically oriented. I created this controller specifically for the Intellivision version of Kaboom (Mad Bomber) but works for other games.
