youngskywalker
I just got a 3DO FZ 1 for 19.99 at a thrift store. When I turn it on it powers up, but when I insert a disc it does'nt load. Screen stays black. Anyone know of any common issues, or any tips would be appreciated. Thanks
kevincal
So you don't hear the disc spinning at all?
youngskywalker
So you don't hear the disc spinning at all? Nope, no spin sound at all. When I insert a disc the green access light comes on, but after that the screen stays black. So, I guess it's the disc drive. Well, anyone know if it's an easy fix, or worth trying to fix at all:? I'll need some more knowledge before I open this FZ 1.
Ghost Soldier
Have you tried turning it on without a disc ? The bootup screen should appear and the mem manager. If not sounds more like a vid/display problem. Edited January 15, 2007 by Ghost Soldier
youngskywalker
The system is showing the 3DO emblem on screen after power up. I found a message from back in 1995 on the 3DO newsgroup about a problem similar to the one I'm having. So far it's all I have to go on. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.v...4f13dad64fd0407 Edited January 15, 2007 by youngskywalker

kevincal
I had a Dreamcast that stopped spinning discs...I opened it up and there was a big ball of lint...maybe carpet fibers, jammed in the CD drive gears. Took it out with some tweezers and it was good as new.
