eric_ruck
Wow, that makes even less sense than the cartoon squirrels they were running for the PSP here. And only slightly better than the Quiznos ads featuring vermin.
liveinabin
Completely useless, isn't it? Sony are clinging for dear life on the 'Playstation cool' they had back in 97. It's gone now, they really have to try as hard as anyone else. Ah well, when the layers of dust on unsold Euro PS3's gets too thick to see through, maybe they'll come back with a better ad. plan. Certainly hope so. Such a shame to see them making the same complacent mistakes as others have made before (Sega, I'm looking at you). darklord1977
you have to love the marketing departments..what were they smoking when they came up with this concept? totally pointless.
Atarifever
It reminds me of the switch from Atari with its finger on the pulse of America, to Atari = lame. To illustrate: Good Atari: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ1Qg-Ny75g Retardi: It should be so easy to make the PS3 look cool. It's like the PSP ads. Those original "Take Me Out" commercials almost sold me on the system before there were even any games (oddly, it was my N-Gage that made me hold off; weird hey). Later they have black and white dirt talking about playng carpet. Just show some games and the things should sell themselves.
Jess Ragan
Atari was just trying to catch up with late '80s trends. Only problem was, Nintendo's ads were so effective that they DEFINED late '80s trends. JR

"OMG TEH PS3 KAN LEVITATE EGGS N TEH AYR!!!!111!!!11!!!!1!" They don't make you want to buy the PS3, they just make you scratch your head as you try to figure out what the hell that was supposed to be. PS2 did those types of ads before, and did them well. n8littlefield
Sorry - that ad is nothing compared to what they did for God of War II recently - check out the link. Not safe for work (body painted lady and blurry dead goat - yes, you read that right) http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article...goat/article.do
Atarifever
Sorry - that ad is nothing compared to what they did for God of War II recently - check out the link. Not safe for work (body painted lady and blurry dead goat - yes, you read that right) http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article...goat/article.do We have reproduced the spread – headlined Sony's Greek Orgy – here, but have pixellated the image to spare readers the sight of the goat's decapitated head hanging by a thread of tissue from its corpse, with blood dripping to the floor. Oh isn't it nice of them to spare us? How thoughtful of them. How high brow of them. Why, it isn't like they were worried about censorship at all and simply figured they'd get around it easier if they reproduced 98% of the image and then vividly described it to us in truel gory detail. In fact, i can't even tell if they might have been trying to be funny there and I should read it as sarcasm. But I mean, seriously, unless you have no imagination, that description is almost certainly as bad as the published picture. Come on: "hanging by a threa of tissue...blood dripping on the floor". Yeah, really good job of sparing people.
Jess Ragan
This is what we call "desperation." People don't start resorting to promotions like this unless they're swirling the drain and are scrambling to climb out of it. See also Acclaim. jbanes
To be fair for a moment, it's not quite as bad as the British tabloids are making it out to be: http://kotaku.com/gaming/meat-soup/goatgat...tory-256325.php That being said, it still lacked some serious taste. No word from Kotaku on if topless women were actually present at the event. Personally, I just can't figure out what Sony thinks they're doing? Let's see, rootkit your user's machines, shut down a popular import store that isn't hurting you, release exploding batteries, try and convince your fanbase that "all I want for Christmas is a PSP", freak out everyone with baby dolls floating in rooms, show wacked out commercials in Europe, and now use a dead goat as a centerpiece? Dear God, someone make it stop!
