moycon
I suppose if I was ONLY playing with a tight group of personal friends that I knew then that would be different, but in any game where you're forced to meet up with complete strangers I won't do it. Too many freaks... Tempest Yep, I agree, Even games without VC can be frustrating online. Diablo 2 comes to mind. Kid gets into your game and starts spamming the hell out of the messenger, same with Guild Wars, folks are always clogging up the chat channel with market spam. Thing is (and I dont know how it worked on Dreamcast, PS2 or Xbox because I never went online with those systems either) but on the 360 you keep a friends list. You can check if they are currenlty online, what they are playing, send them invites to games etc... Provided they want to be bothered. If they don't they have the option of showing up as busy, or away, or not showing up at all. it's very easy and very nice way to "hook up with a tight group of personal freinds. I play with a guy from work all the time, lately we talk away about work while co-oping the bad-guy bosses on Crackdown. Very fun. Also I dunno about FF XI but the 3rd party voice client that came with Guild Wars was TeamSpeak it might be the same??
