Thank you again, in advance! Timothy Kline Hey Tim, save some for the rest of us. Just kidding. I sold you the one with the ClearPic 2002, R63 and Rev 11 OS. Are you trying to corner the market on 1200XLs? Definitely my favorite Atari 8-bit machine. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/107234-1200xl-owners-club-serial-tracker/page/14/#findComment-3512026 Share on other sites
Timothy Kline
Hey Tim, save some for the rest of us. Just kidding. I sold you the one with the ClearPic 2002, R63 and Rev 11 OS. Are you trying to corner the market on 1200XLs? Definitely my favorite Atari 8-bit machine. That was definitely one of the two best 1200XLs that I've been able to procure! These latest ones have been infected with bad mylars, primarily. And to be honest, I'm not sure. Just feeding the addiction right now, I think. Never had a 1200XL in my life, and now I have a family of them, each with their own personality. But one things for sure: I intend to restore and refurbish them with, at a minimum, the basic recommended mods that you mentioned. The first one I am saving for a special personal project. And once the SALT equipment arrives, I'll give them all a thorough shakedown. After that, I'll need to decide which one will get the VBXE and U1MB mod. I haven't really thought beyond that point (apart from being deathly afraid of doing something to ruin one of them!). I'm just enjoying having them when there was a time I never could have afforded them. And given the wide array of mods now available in the Atari community, my brain's afire with ideas that I wouldn't mind exploring, including programming two specific games that have been in my head all these years that look like they are now technically possible with the 8bit. But I suppose most of it is part of my addictive personality disorder. --Tim Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/107234-1200xl-owners-club-serial-tracker/page/14/#findComment-3512059 Share on other sites

freetz
Hi, mine has the serial number 83S DA 022759 183 Has been modified by the great tf_hh to run as a PAL machine. Unfortunately the previous owner has cut(?) a large opening in to the left side, probably to get better access to the module slot and/or joysticks - or is it generally just a missing piece? In the latter case, I'd sure be happy if someone had a replacement ... Cheers, F. freetz
Thanks for the prompt response - I assume there's no place where I could get such a part other than taking it from another 1200XL... Timothy Kline
I do also have an "orphan" Atari 1200XL. I call it an "orphan" because the bottom label has been completely scrubbed. The only identifier is that of a sticker on the riser to the right on the mainboard: DA 015387 (Both the 83S and 72R contain "DA" in their serials, so no love there.) On the bottom of the mainboard: MC4 VO 0383 REV 13A / CO60585 © Atari 1982 --Tim Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/107234-1200xl-owners-club-serial-tracker/page/14/#findComment-3581057 Share on other sites

If it's there, you'll have the rest of the primary serial (DA 75????) although it won't list the final 3-digit number (production week). It's possible that the production week number is stamped on the mainboard, though, as it seems I'd seen it there on some of my 1200XL family. --Tim 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/107234-1200xl-owners-club-serial-tracker/page/14/#findComment-3582250 Share on other sites

Tempest
My 1200XL is pretty heavily modified. It has the PBI mod, the video mod (not sure which one), a RAMBO memory mod (256K?), 32-in1 OS mod, and Bob did a few mods inside to make it 99% compatible with games. It also uses a DC power supply now.
