Well off to a rough start.... keyboard was toast of course, fortunately the mylar-peel-n-clean did the trick for the most part.

The solder joint were cracked on all three LEDs, but they are fixed now.

So, looks like I'm in business.... yay!

Hi Karl-

Yes, I just double-checked "033"

Do I win a prize? :)

-Larry

Well, you woul have the earliest manufactured unit, but with a serial from late March.

83 S DA 019879 033 Larry USA 019879 1983 03 01/17/83 - 01/23/83

Compared to:

83 S DA 017938 133 tjb USA 017938 1983 13 03/28/83 - 04/03/83

But, I've seen some other strange orders as well.

Mgustafson has the lowest serial number... 000423.

Would you mind opening up your 1200XL and seeing if there are any white stickers near the keyboard connector and bottom side near the RF unit? The stickers have a date on them, but not all units have them. If you have a sticker from April say, but your serial is 033 then things get even more confusing.

I took apart the "033" 1200XL for some work, but but no sticker(s) such as you describe. There is an orange QC inspection sticker "WIP" #20 (work-in-process, I presume.) There are two 28-pin sockets, though, so upgrading the OS will be easy.

Just received mine in the mail today. Don't have a power supply yet so I can't test it. From the tag on the back: Made in U.S.A. Serial Number: 83S DA 001855. There is a "073" stamped in ink in the lower right corner of the tag.

Reading back over the posts in this thread, I interpret the "073" to mean Jan 7th 1983 date of production. This would appear to be the second oldest recorded here thus far.

Openned up my 1200xl today to add +5v to the SIO and found the words "Auto ENSP D.10" handwritten in black magic marker across the front on the large silver boarder of the pcb where the press-rivits go through. On the bottom of the pcb is a bright red-orange circular sticker (about 3/4" diameter) stamped with an octagon boarder and inside is:

Mod QA

W78

MSP

20

Not exactly sure about the 2nd and 3rd lines of the stamp because they are smeared.

The pcb is marked C060585 REV 13A . ATARI c 1982. Above that it says MC4VO 4882.

The only other markings are a yellow circular sticker on the top of the large 16V capacitor on which is handwritten "IST PASSED"

All chips are socketed.

Doesn't the 073 mean 7th week of 1983?

Yeah, you're right. That would put it's date of manufacture in February. Any idea what the writing on the motherboard might mean?

I have a 1200XL serial KeyGen if you are interested..

:?:

It's a joke.

These days.. If you want the full (registered) version of a piece of software, you either get a "Keygen" (which is a program that generates bogus serial numbers (or registration keys) for a specific piece of software) or you get "cracked" versions of the executables for the program, or another program written specifically to "patch" the executables and/or make the necessary windows registry modifications.

This thread is about collecting 1200XL serial numbers.. I was JOKING that I had a program that creates bogus 1200XL serial numbers. Most people got the joke..

Well, that one went right over my head. That's ok 'cause it wasn't all that funny anyway. ;)
