  1. 1. What are you thoughts on dumping the Flashback 1 onto cart?

    • All Flashbacks should be crushed and burried with those E.T. carts

    • This is a sin against the spirit of Atari. These games are just crap.

    • You can't do it. I don't care how smart you are with code. It just can't be done. It's an NES chip so it's a no go.

    • I'd rather date Bea Arthur than to do do this.

    • It can be done, but only on a NES chip playabale in an NES.

    • The code can be changed enough to work in an Atari 2600.
      2
    • The games suck, but it would be cool to have a super cart with all these games.
      4
    • I like the games. Yeah, they are not perfect but still it'd be fun to play them on my Atari 2600.

    • I love the Flashback 1. It rules. I threw away all of my Atari games and consoles once I bought this.

    • ATARI WHO? I love Nintendo. I wish I was Super Mario!

I don't understand the question -- I think it's because while the answers are funny, the ones about putting the games on the VCS don't make any sense. I think it would be semi-interesting to dump the ROM so that it could be played on an NES emulator. I wouldn't pay any money for something like that, and I doubt it would hold my interest for more than ten minutes, but it would be cool in theory to do it.

I really wanted the Flashback 1 to not suck. Food Fight, 7800 Asteroids, and Solaris are among my favorite 8-bit games.

I think it's wrong to deliberately bring another copy of the FB1 software into the world, yes.

If you really want to perform an important service, figure out how to add an NES cartridge slot to the FB1 so we can replace the built-in software with the NES games of our choice. I've still got two FB1 consoles sitting in the box, patiently waiting for a brain transplant.

You can dump it all you want to. Just don't post the dump here.

(Actually, the poll really doesn't have anything to do with dumping...)

Can the Flashback 1's contents actually work on an Atari 2600 cart(s)?

I'd love to see the Flashback 1 Games posted as a bunch of BIN files.

It seems like Al has a bunch of competition for Bea Authur's love and body!

Survey Says:

I'd rather date Bea Arthur than to do this. [ 5 ] [17.86%]

Nope. The FB1 was a NOAC-based system, not a 2600 or 7800, so the best you could do would be to run them on an NES (real or emulated). I'm not even sure that's possible, though, since the FB1 might be too different from a stock NES.

If you dump the FB1 and know what mapper it uses (Heck it might even be a custom mapper) then you could put the dump onto NES cart(s). It will NEVER work on a 2600 cause it's nintendo code. That would be like trying to plug a NES cart into your 2600 and expecting it to work.

I don't know if anyone here has a device that burns Nintendo Eproms, but I think it'd be a cool project for someone to do. I think enough of us have Nintendo's and would buy a Flashback 1 Nintendo Cart just for the novelty of it.

Count me out as someone that would buy a Flashback 1 NES Cart. I paid $4.95 for my FB1 (secondhand) and feel like that was too much. I keep it for the novelty factor and I like the mini-7800 case design and mini-7800 controllers. Other than that, I have plugged it in exactly once since I owned it and played it long enough to confirm that the ported games are, indeed, utter crap.

Why anyone would want a cart they could plug into their NES to play these games ported abominations as opposed to playing the originals on Atari hardware is beyond me. I say let's leave the game code in the FB1 and not let the beasts out. These titles need to be remembered for how they were originally, not for how they were bastardized.

It seems that you see Flashback 1 Released on Cart as some kind of Frankenstein Monster. What if a mad scientist decided to go ahead and make one or better yet release the code here.

Or better yet, let's keep the thread entertaining and avoid the usual mudslinging so it doesn't end up being locked (now I've probably cursed it... :ponder: )

AND NO BLOODY FB1 BINARY POSTS HERE
