Ross PK
Desmonds Dungeon is a pretty good platform game. The only maze game that I know of is Capture The Flag. And Star Raiders II is a good space game. Edited June 9, 2007 by Ross PK
+davidcalgary29
Are you looking for great games that are unique to the A8 platform? If this is the case, perhaps a European AAer can help you, as almost all of the best games that were commercially released for the A8 in North America were also available on other platforms. For a maze game, I'd try MIDI Maze. It was the first/best/only FPS for the A8, and certainly a unique achievement for the system. Versions of this game did appear on other systems, but it's amazing to see it play with a smooth framerate on A8 architecture. Draconus is a great space shooter. Jurassic Park 2 and The Terminator are decent side-scrolling adventure games, if a bit difficult. Hawkmoon has rather nice graphics. Xagon is a fun Q*Bert clone, and an arcade favourite. Ross PK
Journey To The Planets is another great space game, out of the space games I've played on the A8 I think it's the best, it's also a puzzling game as well.

www.atarimania.com
Defender, Dropzone and Zybex are great shooters. Would also recommend Alien Swarm, which is really unique. Montezuma's Revenge, Bounty Bob Strikes Back!, Bruce Lee, Cavernia, Deimos, Spelunker, Pitfall! II - Lost Caverns, Mr. Robot and His Robot Factory and Whistler's Brother are really nice platformers. There are some great arcade adventures to choose from as well: Spellbound, Krucjata, Miecze Valdgira, Miecze Valdgira II - Wladca Gor, Dwie Wieze... Maze games? Do Mr. Do!, King Tut's Tomb and Diamond Mine qualify? A lot of people don't like the conversion but Gauntlet is, IMO, a lot of fun. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com Edited June 10, 2007 by www.atarimania.com
deathtrappomegranate
Defender, Dropzone, Zybex are great shooters. Agreed, and all would qualify as space games, too! Edited June 10, 2007 by deathtrappomegranate
The Eidolon
Platformers: Spelunker, Jumpman, Pitfall II, Bruce Lee, Montezuma's Revenge, Miner 2049er Maze Games maybe... The Eidolon? Space Games Ultima 2! (j/k)
Goochman
Platform - Mr. Robot, I have some killer levels if anyone is interested . emkay
Is Boulderdash a maze or a platformer? Alike, it's on top of both here. Platformers following: Montezuma's Revenge, Spelunker, Drol (colour version), Pharaoh's Curse Maze.... hm: The Eidolon, 3D Pac plus Space Games: Bandits, Dropzone, ... Hyperblast also. Best "Ego-perspective" games : Encounter, The last Starfighter, Dimension X, Rescue on Fractalus. Hm.... where to put games like "L.A. Swat" or "Joust" on? Ross PK
I'd say LA Swat would come under Twich Game/Shooter. Yeah, I forgot Shamus is a maze game, I'd say it's definatley better than Capture The Flag, I think anyway, it's been a long time since I played CTF. Urchlay
Favorite space game for the A8 will probably always be Star Raiders... Does Alley Cat count as a "platform" game? How about Necromancer?
Goochman
Huh? Second release? -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com SOrry you are correct - the 2nd release was Gateway to Aphsai which included Temple of Apshai and another module I think. My bad
www.atarimania.com
Actually, the chronology should be: Temple of Apshai Upper Reaches of Apshai Curse of Ra Gateway to Apshai [cartridge] The Temple of Apshai Trilogy Gateway to Apshai [disk] -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
