I doubt very much I'll see it. It's been nearly 2 years since I last went to a movie theater, when I went to see Flightplan with Jodie Foster. If I were to go to a movie theater this year, I'd probably be more likely to go see the new Fantastic Four movie since I did enjoy the first one. I might get DOA when it comes out on DVD, though...basically, I just am not a movie-going person anymore.

Oh man, I can see not going back after watching that. That was a horrible movie.

I had no idea there was a DOA movie. Is it based on the games? Honestly, I know nothing about it. Is it about Volleyball or fighting? Either way I don't care; I'm not going.

Oh, of course, the US has just got this. I was a bit confused as this particular gem has been out on DVD for a while now.

I have absolutely NO intention of seeing it though. Hollywood films are predictable and dull at best, but this just looks truly excremental.

At first i thought you were talking about the group Dead or Alive from the 80's! You Spin Me Round Like A Record! :)

Not seeing Dead or Alive or any other video game movie for the foreseeable future, unless there's a dramatic turnaround in quality.

It would be amusing to see a DoA movie done with CGI, though.

My fiancee just saw me looking at this thread and I had to explain what this was supposed to be. It sounded crazy. I said that it's a movie, based on a game, that is largely founded on the fact that some people like to size up cartoon characters to the point that the games are sometimes about volleyball. So the movie is like a live action version of cartoon porn, without the nudity.

WTF? I have my ten year old brother here! I am sure glad his eyes were on the tv screen!

Very few good movies are bassed on video games.... And none I can think of bassed on fighting games. And none even made based on volyball games I can think of. So no....no...HELL NO I won't go.

I dunno, I think the best VG to movie was the first Mortal Kombat. Resident Evil was okay. Doom totally sucked. And there are a couple of VG to movies that were so bad they're not worth mentioning.

Well, given that the, er, assets of DOA's female characters are the main selling point, and seem to be a tad lacking (largely for logistical reaspns) from the movie, I'd say no.

I've never wanted to see a movie in a theatre based on assets. There are more assets online for free, including all of the assets from the theatre. Why pay $10 for something that is free online? I actually knew a guy with no interest in seeing Fantastic Four who went just for whatshername. She's online in bikinis, in spandex, in interviews, IN THE MOVIE FANTASTIC FOUR, so why pay to see her in the theatre? I don't see how those types of assets still gets anyone to the theatre.

Actually, it's Gamer Cinema, the quality isn't relevant at all. As gamers we have an obligation to support gamer cinema just like comic book fans have an obligation to support Comic Cinema. Obviously, our job is harder, but c'mon, movies about videogames!!! We're in the mainstream now, all we have to do is to help these movies be successful for another decade or so before their quality improves and then we've got it made!

Look at Science Fiction and how awful old sci-fi films could be, and now they're pretty cool at least 40% of the time. Comic Cinema had to go through some really awful films, too, and they've been making them since the 30s and 40s right? Then, finally, along comes Sin City! Completely worth the wait!!!

Eventually, if we show them there's a market for it, someone is going to make a truly incredible movie based on a game. Until then we have to do our part by renting Super Mario Bros and Silent Hill while going to see Dead or Alive and whatever the next Resident Evil movie is called. By the year 2040 we should have some quality stuff to watch at the nursing home in our virtual reality capsules.
