FND
Since this has to do with a 8-bit game and I am not sure were to post the question I will try here Anyone know how to stop this type of Paper disintegration? I just received this item and I believe it to be rather rare but as you can See from the scan the label has some type of rot happening. At first glance it looks like it has been torn but the paper is actually being eaten away from some type of Fungi ? Interesting coincidence is the name of the game and the problem its label is having I removed the label but need to figure out some way to neutralize this problem This may even be a prototype as it was part of a collection of 10 Atari 8-bit prototypes I recently received Just as a side note I have attached the only information I have been able to locate about this company, they seem to have been only around for a short Time and lost there archive to a flood http://armchairarcade.com/neo/node/
www.atarimania.com
You have a real rarity! AFAIK, the game was only released on tape (in the UK). Is this a cartridge you have? What are the other prototypes you got? Other Tymac programs? Thanks! -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com

Thanks! -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com Just pluged it in and it WORKS The hand written N/G on the label had me worried that it meant NO GOOD maybe it stands for new game ? I cant seem to open the case, the screw is removed but it seems to be really stuck closed ?
www.atarimania.com
That's excellent So the game looks exactly the same as on the screenshots? -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
Tempest
The other proto's arePLATO Disk Diagnostic AtariWriter Rev# 16 Serial # 90 Tennis Pole Olsition Rev#0 Seial #11 A interesting SALT cart , It has an Atari Rejected sticker that looks like it says 1250 XL I opened it and it has 3.03 on the eprom stickers which I believe is the last revision for the 400/800 Now that's interesting. I have an AtariWriter that is REV #9 and it tested the same as the final version (version A), I wonder if yours isn't version C? Pole Position is probably the final or close to it since it was originally developed on the 5200. Then again, I've seen stranger things... I'd be interested in seeing dumps of all those protos, you never know if something is different until you compare the code. Tempest

It seems this has support for 80-column printers the options are 1 Atari 1025 2 Atari 825 3 Atari 1020 4 Atari 1027 Still testing the rest I will put up a scan of the SALT Label in a few
Ross PK
All I can think of is disinfecting the label somehow without damaging it and then to spray it with something to give it a clear protective covering.
FND
All I can think of is disinfecting the label somehow without damaging it and then to spray it with something to give it a clear protective covering. There must be some sort of chemical to use on paper items as I have seen other paper documents in this state that have been protected somehow? I just cant seem to find anything on line to point me in the right direction Thanks for your response I will keep trying to find a soulution and post it here if I find something fnd
FND
Here is a scan of the SALT Label I loaded the cart and the title screen reads ATARI 400/800 Super Salt System Test Rev 3.03 1983 So the label does not seem to fit the actual program. Interesting when I pulled the Rejected sticker back so I could scan it fully I found the 400/800 SALT written behind it ? fnd
FND
That's excellent So the game looks exactly the same as on the screenshots? -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com Sorry it took awhile to get back to this game. The screen shots look the same with the exception of some colors The start screen on my version has a blue boarder around the "TEMP" and the "ENG" status display at the top of the screen, Your screen shot has a green boarder Same difference with the patent screen, the TEMP, ENG and SCORE dispays are boarderd in blue The infection screen is a totaly different color, Yours is pink/red with a dark gray player/score box mine is yellow background with brown blocks and a light blue player/Score box

A.J. Franzman
Anyone know how to stop this type of Paper disintegration? I just received this item and I believe it to be rather rare but as you can See from the scan the label has some type of rot happening. At first glance it looks like it has been torn but the paper is actually being eaten away from some type of Fungi ? "Eaten" is right! This damage is not from fungi, but insects. Most likely silverfish in this case (it looks as though the paper was damaged from behind in some places, and only silverfish can make themselves thin enough to do that); but crickets, cockroaches and other types will also eat paper (and all of these are especially fond of some kinds of glue). If this sort of damage is common among your stored paper goods, you can buy products that will kill the vermin. Edited June 15, 2007 by A.J. OK Thanks for the info I have already removed the label and put it into a card saver thin case so that should stop any further munching, I will also put the cart into a sealed plastic bag for time being and get some type of poision to hopfully kill any criters inside. Just got it so hopfully nothing has crawled out into my house. btw thats the only cart I could not get opened, all the others were clean and no sign of label damage the likes of this one Are you sure its not some type of fungi it seems to have only attacked the paper areas without ink, as can be seen in the scan the "D" has been eaten inside and around the outside leaving just the ink area ? Not sure if silver fish would be so selective but I am certainly no expert on there eating habits

Tempest
You should really get these dumped when you get a chance. I'd love to review them for my site. That PLATO prototype is especially interesting... Tempest
