Dutchman2000
Another update: Keithen found some time over the Labor Day weekend to get some more things done. The only things left to get done are the Pulsars, Enemy shots and Zooming. The new graphics by Michael Kosaka are a lot better then the ones in the existing prototype. The flippers are no longer as blocky and they flip a lot cleaner. Once Keithen sends me his latest build I will try and get some screenshots up. It's getting closer!! Dutchman2000
What? Not even a picture or two? C'mon! Ron- Keithen wants to fix a few vexing bugs before he sends me a playable version to evaluate. When that happens, I will post some new screenshots showing the new enemy graphics. I haven't even seen them yet, but I am really looking forward to it!!
+Allan
Anybody know what 'zooming' is? Is that when you finish a wave and you fly by it? Allan
PacManPlus
I wonder how much of the code / graphics would be re-usable for a 7800 version? I know the DLLs are completely different, but as far as game logic and just the definition of the sprites... Does it use character mode as well? Dutchman2000
Anybody know what 'zooming' is? Is that when you finish a wave and you fly by it? Allan Yes, that is when you finish a wave and "zoom" through the tube (avoiding spikes if there are any) then fly through space and land on the next tube. birdie3
This is sounding wicked!! I only have an A8 though. Same thoughts for 5200 Adventure II... Wish I was a 5200 man.

Dutchman2000
bump. Nothing new to report, Keithen hasn't had time lately to do any coding but he did promise me a playable version soon. More news when that happens.
Jess Ragan
Michael... Kosaka? Wasn't he a developer at Electronic Arts before they went all Darth Vader on us? That's pretty impressive that you were able to get him involved in this project!

That's pretty impressive that you were able to get him involved in this project! Started at Epyx working on the Games series before moving to EA, a large part of Skate or Die and working on a bundle of other titles. I think he was at EA until the end of the 90s. Not sure what he's doing now... care to inform me? Edited October 3, 2007 by Mayhem
Gabriel
I don't like being on this side of the waiting game! Suffer! I'm psyched by all this. It's fun waiting on hot new Atari 5200 titles.
yuppicide
You sound like you need to buy a 5200! I'm don't have one, but damnit I'll get one. This is sounding wicked!! I only have an A8 though. birdie3
I used to think this but.. No. I doubt I ever will. My XEGS works for me.
TunnelRunner
The pricing is not yet known, Albert might know as he is handling all the publishing. The main problem is coming up with 300 cartridge cases. I bought a box of Berzerk/ Pac Man/ Super Breakout carts off eBay a few years ago. Is 80 a lot? T2KFREEKER
Hmm, too bad you can't do a speacial cart that is transparent with a blue light in it when it turns on. That would so be awesome, especially because it is Tempest!
Dutchman2000
UPDATE: Keithen has added the spinners and the spikes so things are progressing. He just needs a few more programming days before he can send me a playable version to test. I will try to post any screenshots that I can once that happens. Tempest
That would so be awesome, especially because it is Tempest! Thank you. Thank you very much... Actually you probably could do that somehow. All you would need to do is get power to the LED's somehow. Isn't there a power line in the cartridge port? Tempest

Tempest It has been done with a 2600 cart before (Tronman) Yes, but someone would have to create molds for 5200 cartridge shells (which to my knowledge has never been done) and then produce a run of translucent carts. Would be very cool, but also crazy expensive, especially for the 5200 where you'd never recoup your investment in the molds. I sure would have liked to have new cartridge shells for Adventure II, as I spent a great deal of time removing labels, removing glue residue, disassembling the carts, and finally scrubbing the cart halves under running water (mainly to get rid of all the crap that gets stuck in the grooves along the sides). If I was to make a new 5200 shell, it would be a much simpler design!! ..Al
