+atari2600land
I cleared the board with the spider design! I've owned the game for a little over a month now, and this is the first time I've done it! The dragon at the end is pretty cool. Yay me! (I know, most of you don't really care, but I'm excited.)
dogcorn
Congratulations! I don't think I cleared Shanghai even once during the brief time that I had it. Quite an accomplishment. So are you gonna go for the other 6 levels now?
+atari2600land
Yes. I just need to figure out which design to tackle next. Edited July 12, 2007 by atari2600land
+LS650
I remember the sense of accomplishment when I first "saw the dragon"! Shanghai is a really great game on the Lynx - it's well worth getting if you like thinking games.
JagChris
What is the deal with the Lynx version of this game vs other versions? My friend plays the new tablet versions and even on the same tile set/map whatever such as Dragon she wins 3 out of 5 times. But on the Lynx(which is her favorite by far. She loves it) She's lucky to win 1 out of 8 times. Wouldn't the odds be the same with the same kind of tile map?
Isgoed
I don't think that it always has something to do with odds or luck. If you don't mind the running playtime, and take your time to think forward before making a move, chances are that you'll beat the map. It's easy to just select the matching tiles that are displayed, but you have to consider that hidden ones might be needed later on. Maybe that today's games are made easier (to achieve something) for the mainstream "gamers" ?
+jgkspsx
I have played a lot of mahjong solitaire in many versions and the Lynx version feels like the hardest. It would be interesting to see if somebody programmed an AI to see of that’s true. Maybe the Lynx version doesn’t prevent unsolvable layouts and others do?

Good question, but I can agree and especially like the lynx version. For a long time I regularly played a few rounds of shanghai before sleeping. I used the simplified tile set and also beat every level. It's one of my few lynx originals I've kept.
