Any software like APE for 8 bit on the ST to use a PC as a image server?

A null-modem is probably the easiest option, although I suspect it would probably be limited to a low bitrate.

But even then, you'd still need to transfer to floppy, or an ST hard drive.

It is a good question. I was looking for such thing too for a long time.

Since the compatibility of PC 3.5" disks is so much higher (compared to the atari 8bit formats) I think there where no needs to make such program.

I know there was GHOST LINK... but that was more something like a file-server.

If you know an APE look-a-like program that emulates a FLOPPY DISKDRIVE on PC (or MAC) to boot your Atari from it. Let me know!

I made Image Runner, for running image files on Atari, without writing them onto floppies, from hard disk.

Now, it can be combined with some communication PC-Atari, for people without hard disk.

Actually, if there is a proram which can mount some PC directory as logical drive on Atari, then you can simple run images from that virtual drive.

I don't know is there something like that - PARCP maybe? (or what is exact name of paraller port cable+SW ? )

No, you need a hardware solution, not software. The reason for this is that contrary to the A8 where the SIO port is the means of communication to the floppy drive, the ST has a floppy controller. So you need a piece of hardware that will emulate a floppy drive or some kind of cable to your pc which will still need to emulate a floppy. In that sense check these two sites:
