BeerGnome
I've been having a problem as of late with dissapearing sprites, they dont flicker, just vanish.. For example Jr. pacman.. its pretty easy to see the line where two sprites do not want to co-exist. usually the conflict is between Junior and the walking Prize. either junior or the prize will vanish. of course its only a pain in the ass when junior wants to vanish.. oh, how many games have been lost! this problem doesnt occur in the emulation version so it doesnt appear to be the game.. a simular problem is happening in missle command, this time, several incoming missles will fail to draw and you wont know that they are even thier untill a city explodes I'm thinking a A/V mod might correct this problem. I have had problems with the units picture flickering out on me any thoughts on this are more than welcome Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/11543-the-amazing-dissapearing-sprite/ Share on other sites
lonesome_pa
I noticed that if you directly hook up a 2600 to a tv using an phono to coaxil adapter (at Radio Shack) give a lot better picture as well as sound. I connected mine using an A/B switch that way it's always hooked up and just press a button when I'm ready to play. It's a lot better than those manual rf switches. This might fix the video problem you are having. BeerGnome
that's actually pretty much how I have the system hooked up at the moment. No RF switch, Im using the phono to co-ax I forgot to mention however that im running into the co-ax port on my ATI all in wonder video card, so I'm sending all this information through my computer and using the TV tuner on the card to display on my monitor. perhaps there's something with that? BeerGnome
figured it out! everything is fine with the VCS. the problem was that the video interlacing on the Video capture was set to one field of video interlacing. switching over two field interlacing solved the problem. the only thing I can rekon was that the interlacing effect the units flicker and the code of the games was cheating flicker to make too many things happen at once, hence, flicker made the sprite dissapear all together. in any case, all is good now thanks lone for the help Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/11543-the-amazing-dissapearing-sprite/#findComment-116476 Share on other sites
Osbo
this might sound stupid... but when I was a kid, I used to play a lot of frogger, and I remember that every time the croc came out in the frogger up row they start to flicker, I used to think "oh they are just scare!!" Oh well... Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/11543-the-amazing-dissapearing-sprite/#findComment-116554 Share on other sites
