Foxsolo2000
That video about the making of Atlantis and Imagic was great. Imagic was surely one of the best companies at the time. Its just a shame that they didn't survive the crash of 84 like Activision
Rom Hunter
Take a look at this overlong Worm War I commercial with its 'state of the art' graphics: http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...VERSION_ID=7911

tremoloman2006
NICE work! I've never seen half of those videos. Bad thing is, I have that cheesy "WORM WAR ONE" theme stuck in my head now.

Rom Hunter
Almost every field on a game's entry page is searchable now: http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...VERSION_ID=8220 Enjoy!
Cybergoth
Almost every field on a game's entry page is searchable now:http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...VERSION_ID=8220 You're sure? It looks like it is just retrieving pregenerated lists for everything. What I'd really love to see would be a real expert search, something allowing a customized query like: "Give me a list of all games from 1983, parents only, that have at least 10 votes, ranked by voting average, descending". That would be amazing. Or, maybe even better, offer a public SQL query interface!

LOL That would be great, now wouldn't it? Well, the Advanced Search screen has quite some search options: http://www.atarimania.com/rech_advanced.ph...amp;TYPE_CODE=G But unfortunately not all the ones you mentioned. Perhaps Controller Type and Number of Players windows will be added in the future for even more cross-searching. Cybergoth
Uijah... how are you supposed to get there? I didn't even know that an advanced search already existed. And, will the A8 section soon also get the "original version" checkbox?
Rom Hunter
Ah. That explains your reply. It's very simple: In the 2600 section, click on Games and then click on Advanced Search (top of the screen). Original versions for the 8-bit? Who knows? You'll have to ask Bertrand, our 8-bit maintainer. Edited January 8, 2008 by Rom Hunter

www.atarimania.com
And, will the A8 section soon also get the "original version" checkbox? Cybergoth
And, will the A8 section soon also get the "original version" checkbox? As in "original version from multiple releases" or "original dump"? I meant the first, so a search can ignore stuff like later low budget releases. No easy task and probably many debatable choices to make. For example would I tag the Novagen release of Encounter as original, not the Synapse one.

For example: for a better overview, I decided to leave out the Sears originals and choose for their Atari counterparts instead, although the Sears versions were often released somewhat earlier. I don't know the exact period of time between both releases though. Maybe Rolenta knows more. Edited January 9, 2008 by Rom Hunter
www.atarimania.com
I meant the first, so a search can ignore stuff like later low budget releases. Sorry for the late reply... To be honest, I'm not completely sold on the idea for the moment, probably because this is determined by the year of release most of the time. Also, the Atari 8-bit and VCS markets were very different, as few A8 titles were distributed by different companies. Finally, there are no label variations listed on our site. No easy task and probably many debatable choices to make. Actually, it would be extremely easy as the Atari 8-bit market was a lot more "legible". I don't see a single point of controversy apart from the example below... For example would I tag the Novagen release of Encounter as original, not the Synapse one. I believe the American version would be the original. Paul Woakes probably sold the title to Synapse Software so he could set up Novagen Software. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
