Michael_
Has anyone ever tried programming something with the Magicard? I´ve been reading the manual from start to finish these past days now and figured I might want to give it a try. Is it worth even having a go at it or is it way too "simple"? How well does it compare to actual "real" programming or can it in fact be construed as actual programming for the 2600? Any help or comments will be much appreciated. +Psionic
Well, Ed Salvo taught himself how to program for the 2600 using MagiCard. Take that however you may. The main problem with the MagiCard is not its effectiveness, but its utility...there's really no effective way to save whatever you've programmed. Appendix E: Constructing and connecting a cassette interface.
Prodos8
I would avoid serious programming with the MagiCard like the plague. No one does machine language programming anymore, besides there's too many cross-macro assemblers, for 6502, available now to even entertain the idea at this point. Oh, there is, it's just a pain in the ass. In addition to the technical issues that Prodos8 mentioned, who wants to mess around with tapes nowadays? Michael_
Thanks guys for the comments. Even though it´d be a royal pain in the butt to do it the hard way, I figured I´d give it a go if it was at all possible. The romantic in me still wants to try to program like it was done in the golden age (if that makes sense at all)
