On Sunday at 3:00pm the place to be at Classic Gaming Expo is under the net that contains 400 empty Atari 2600 Dig Dug boxes. Now you may be wondering why in the world you'd want to stand under a net with 400 empty boxes in it. The answer is simple...one in every ten of those boxes will contain a coupon worth a valuable prize!

The Great Dig Dug Drop of 2002 will consist of a net containing roughly 400 empty Dig Dug boxes. At 3:00pm on Sunday, the net will be opened and all these boxes will fall to the floor. Dive in! Start opening the boxes and look for a red coupon that will be in about forty of them. If you find one with a red coupon, you have won a prize. Some of the prizes include Infogrames software, Atari lab label prototypes, Atari 2600 Berenstain Bears, Atari 2600 Custer's Revenge, Dragon's Lair figurines, among many others. Not only will you have a chance to win some very cool prizes, but the Great Dig Dug Drop will also be a whole lot of fun!

I wasn't there, but I heard about what happened at the '99 show when a similar stunt was pulled by John and Sean. I know I've seen pictures somewhere of the chaos that quickly ensued. This year I'll get video of the event, which I'm sure will be quite amusing for anyone sitting on the sidelines. What? You mean I'll be the only person not participating? :)

The Dig Dug Drop sounds cool.

By chance did you get this idea from the old zayer's stores in the early 80's. The Zayer's store by my house back then used to do a similar thing

with balloons (it was called the great balloon drop and they used to do it a

midnite madness sale I believe)

Dan Iacovelli

(ps: I hope to get some goodies from the drop :) )

Nope. Never heard of Zayer's. We got the idea from trying to figure out what to do with all these empty Dig Dug boxes we had lying around.

We figured we'd get the most fun from trying to hit the attendees in the head with them as they walked under the net. :)
