Giltygear
I'm thinking about buying a 7800 with a few games, so for shits and giggles i looked on the 'bay to see what people were selling them for. surprise surprise, shipping is outrageous, but what bothered me the most is that a lot of the starting bids were $50+! i checked the 2600 listings and the same thing. a lot of the times the auctions were ending fairly shortly and no one had bid on the higher priced systems. This was a perfect example im almost tempted to email some of these guys and make them what i think is a fair offer, but part of me thinks that it would be just a waste of time because if theyre that stubborn that they think that they can get that high a price for a vintage system, then theres a good chance that i wont even get a response Would this be a good idea, or would i just be wasting my time? and why do these people think that they have some sort of holy grail that they honestly think that someone will pay that high a price? +Psionic
Would this be a good idea, or would i just be wasting my time? Waste of time, generally. and why do these people think that they have some sort of holy grail that they honestly think that someone will pay that high a price? Because they're idiots or the people buying it from them are.

Wait until after Christmas, people can get a lot for stuff this time of year just due to demand. It gets kind of crazy.
+Charlie Cat
I would be patient & purchase a 7800 (or anything in general) in January. Usually, the vast majority of consumers are broke after December, and you can purchase items at "Cut-Throat" prices around this tine!! Anthony.... Dauber
Seriously, don't pay more than $30 plus s/h for a 7800 plus a few games.
MCHufnagel
Hey, just look at these craigslist "deals". http://detroit.craigslist.org/tag/505038968.html http://detroit.craigslist.org/tag/505034927.html http://detroit.craigslist.org/tag/505040762.html
Rybags
Rediculous all right. Here's 7800 Joust http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ATARI-7800-CARTRIDG...1QQcmdZViewItem You'd get a bargain bin 2 year old PC game for less. I think it comes down to waiting for the right opportunity. I picked up my 7800 pretty cheap, they often go here for $30+ just for a system with a couple of games. People are also putting joysticks and paddles up for absolutely rediculous prices - I want some paddles but no way will I pay $30+ including postage. Lynx is much the same. But, the odd one slips through - I picked mine (+1 game) up about 2 weeks ago for all of $4.30 (but postage was $10).
Recycled
2600.com has them without any games for $60, not incl shipping. At least you'd be getting a good one with a 30 day warranty. I got burned twice buying hardware on ebay..a CV and a 2600; now I have 2 broken consoles I got a good deal on sitting around....I'll pay more for quality.
