thgill
Hello all! I am new user to this message board and Atari Computers in general. Got a couple questions for you all. 1. Recently I picked a second hand Falcon 030 and I am curious about the audio output quality on it. Seems to have a type of hiss or noise on the headphone output. I have read that there is a headphone amp gain and a light bass boost that is builtin to the audio out. Is this what causes this noise? I read that the Cubase manual talked about fixing this. Would this solve the noise output and give a mostly clear noise free output? 2. Can anyone point me to some good resources on the Falcon and TOS? Can i download a newer version of the OS? I would like to cleanly reinstall on my Falcon, but I didn't receive any software disks with it. Thanks for any help!! sonnenhexer
Can i download a newer version of the OS? That´s why you don´t get any disks. thgill
I tried to locate the application xcontrol.acc, which according to the manual is the control panel and I can not locate it. I did a search for it with no luck. So, the OS is not contained on the Hard drive at all? sonnenhexer
The OS not, but the xcontrol.acc should be in the root-directory. Michael Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/11944-question-about-falcon-audio-output/#findComment-116406 Share on other sites
thgill
Well, i don't see it there.. any way to get it back? Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/11944-question-about-falcon-audio-output/#findComment-116429 Share on other sites
sonnenhexer
Hm, I personally never owned a Falcon, so I cannot help now. Try search the hard drive, maybe it is in one of the folders. When you have found it, copy it to the root directory, then it wil be loaded every time you start the Falcon. You find every Accessory in the Info-menu. Todd You can't do much with that awful audio out (well, it's not that awful, but...) To get a SERIOUS audio out you should abandon that thing and buy an FA4, or FA8, or JAMin/out, or something else that gives you a lot of CLEAN ANALOG AUDIO channels, with a external D/A conversion. No hiss, no humm, full frequency range. About resources, it depends on what do you need. let me know, i'll point you.
