Giltygear
I have a very small 2600 collection, but within that i have a a good number of duplicates. they're all R1 and some are missing the end label... the defender and combat are missing the ends... May question is: is there any good ideas as to how get rid of these? i plan on grabbing some more systems and games and dont want dupes to become an issue, but i dont want to throw them out. any suggestions??? orangest
donate them to your local thrift store, or get the $3 worth of atari age store credit.
Zwackery
Recycle common stuff with AA as per the buying guidelines: http://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?main_page=buying Keep your other extras around, and when you accumulate a big enough pile of duplicates, sell them as a bundle. Quadhorn
Get some 'boards, EEPROMs and a programmer and use them as the cases to make yourself some new games...?

Omegamatrix
Try having some fun by looking for minute differences. I always look for differences in copyright dates, size of the Atari Fuji's, font sizes on the end labels, date stamps on the end labels, etc... Some games have different versions that you'll have to check for. For example Asteroids comes in two flavours. The first flavour has the bold taste of programmeroriginalus, and starts straight into the game. The second flavour has a strong aftertaste of Atarihackedmygamus, and you will see a copyright screen appear when you turn your game on. Both flavours come with identical labels so try them to see which one you have. * I'm not responsible for anyone who licks their carts. Lord Helmet
I usually wait until I have a bunch of them accumulated, then sell them as a lot.
shadow460
Local stores offer 25 cents trade in for Atari games. I do one of two things with my dupes. Either I trade in a bunch of them at a time, or I'll offer one of each title to beginning collectors as a free lot. I know some places are completely dry for any Atari games, so that's an additional outlet for duplicate carts. If I had swarms of the older Atari dupes, I'd send them in to Al as well. Speaking of, I wonder where he gets the cases used to make 7800 games. I could certainly clean a few third gen carts up here and there and send 'em his way if needed. poker_plus
Print out new labels for unreleased, prototype, (or hell, imaginary) games. Replace the labels on your commons with these new ones and hide them in plain sight at various thrift stores around your town.
Video
I build stuff out of them. We got a whole house made out of nothing but Pac/man carts, and the driveway is paved with ET. Seriously now, I useually just hold onto the dupes. It's not even really worth selling at the moment, as it actually costs more to ship them (especially one at a time) than it does to sell them. I just give them away to upstarts around here, and mostly hide the pile in the closet and hope nobody looks.
Crazy Climber
Keep your other extras around, and when you accumulate a big enough pile of duplicates, sell them as a bundle. Even a pile a commons can be hard to sell, you have to put at least one rare in with them to get anything I suggest giving them to a friend, wait until one shows interest in your collection then say I have a few extra games if you want them? Then you will convert another to the world of 2600

We just got a new game store that takes atari games but has none. I traded my dupes in hoping others would see them and bring some more in so I can buy the later. I think they give a quarter each and resale them for a dollar. maybe it will pay off for me.
accousticguitar
I keep a trade list and make a trade here and there. Not too often, but I do have some games that I wouldn't have otherwise.
[d2f]Iggy*SJB
I'd not have some games that I have, had I not gotten a wild hair up my ass when I saw it for sale somewhere. But, noooooooooooo....I had to have it. (Does this sound familiar to anyone, even if used in the reverse context?)
Schitti
I must confess that most of the duplicates stacked in my game room, because I am too lazy. Sometimes i sell them on ebay, but i must have a lot of time. and if you sell a lot, you get no good price for it. otherwise change with other collectors is very difficult. who needs the commos. and who has some rares to change at home ??? mostly they're gone at ebay i think.
