bdog_147
Went out to buy a Gamecube controller today only to find ebgames and Wallmart don't have them anymore. Wallmart still have the Gamecube systems but no controllers. Ebgames didn't even have used controllers. I did find a third party controller at Blockbuster so I bought that. If they have stopped making them I guess it makes sence since the Wii has been out for over a year now. I'll have to hit the pawn shops to see if they have any cube controllers. The controller I bought is okay but I'd rather have an offical Nintendo controller. Same for the memory cards. I need one of those too. However I did see one of those (used) at ebgames. Should have bought it when I was there the other day. I'll see if it is still there tommorow.
Atariboy
Has been for quite a while I think. Most places I go to have been out of stock on everything GameCube besides systems, third party accessories, and a select few GameCube titles for quite a while. Gregory DG
Saw a BUNCH of Wavebird controllers at both Sears and Toys R Us. Maybe you could look there?
nathanallan
GameStop has a bunch of white Cube style controllers here. I know they're EB Games but they had them there. Store brand, but I have one of the black ones and it's pretty good quality. Nathan
Jess Ragan
Get some Wavebirds if you can. I hate the GameCube controller design but this is the best one you're going to find on the system. It's got excellent battery life and a flawless wireless connection on par with what we're seeing on today's systems.
Lord Helmet
I really want one of these: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=119553 but I can't find one ANYWHERE
HammR25
Nintendo doesn't sell Wavebirds at their website anymore so I'd guess they're no longer produced.

You know what else is hard to find? That stupid Perfect Shot attachment for the Wiimote. It's just a plastic shell! How hard is that to manufacture? It doesn't even have microchips in it! joeybastard
I know this isn't a regular controller like being discussed but I picked up a Intec Pro Mini 2 Racing Wheel for the GC at Goodwill. It was brand new and only $6. It wasn't worth it. What an incredible piece of crap. The right/left buttons which should be the accelerator/brake don't work properly and seem to be digital rather than analog which sucks ass for gas pedal. If you see it, don't buy it unless you want it just to have it. I should have bought a sandwich at the Quizno's down the street with the money. NE146
Won't the Wii classic controller also work for the gamecube?
KrazyKaiju
Won't the Wii classic controller also work for the gamecube? You would think so, but unfortunately it doesn't. Apparently something in hardware switches off the bluetooth when the Wii goes into Gamecube mode. You can't even power off the system with the wiimote when it's in GC mode. The Wavebird seems to work fine for VC, and it's the best option available for the N64 games. Lord Helmet, that Thrustmaster controller isn't all it's cracked up to be. The sticks and buttons feel pretty good but the d-pad really sucks. I'll stick with the Classic controller's d-pad, at least until they come out with a Genesis 6 button version. nathanallan
Won't the Wii classic controller also work for the gamecube? The classic has the little square plug that plugs to the wiimote, not the round connector of the GC console. So I don't think so. The Hori one looks really cool. Atariboy
What's the big deal with that 3rd party GameCube wireless controller? It's looks that sort of compliment the Wii? Think I'll stick with my WaveBird.

DragonmasterDan
I see regular wired GameCube controllers quite a bit, ToysRus, Frys and a number of other stores still seem to have them. I haven't seen a new wavebird in a while.

We never get nuthin Yep. What makes it really interesting is that I was actually looking for one! I had just picked up a couple of classic compilations for the GCN and found the stock controller to suck (the dpad is too small). So I googled around and saw the Hori gamepad and set out to find one. The Gamestop I usually frequent didn't have one, so I stoppped at another one while on my lunch break. They had one on clearance with the rest of the GCN accessories. Lucky me I suppose. I didn't realize they were hard to come by. Here's one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Gamecube-Wii-Hori-Cont...1QQcmdZViewItem Pelican made one that is nearly identical...and there are several of those on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-Gamecube-Peli...1QQcmdZViewItem http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?s...op=1%26fsoo%3D1 Edited January 30, 2008 by Lord Helmet
nathanallan
Thanks for the heads up! I have a gamestop branded GCN controller, a shiny black one. It looks like the Pelican is the same one. I mean exactly the same one, rebadged. I didn't realize they were hard to come by. The Hori ones, they seem to be hard to come by. The Pelican ones maybe not so much. Like you showed, there are a bunch. Awesome! Nathan
DragonmasterDan
A few notes, I also have the Pelican GB controller, I think I paid 6.99 for it. Anyway, I went to Frys Electronics today. they had about a dozen first party GameCube controllers. No Wave birds though. While they may no longer be manufactured. They're not difficult to locate.
